The Nova Open seminar happened a few hours earlier and there was quite a bit revealed, but my personal favorite was that the Sisters of Battle.... Adepta Sororitas will be getting beta rules before the end of the year.

Lets look at what was revealed for them........

Via the Nova Open
Sisters of Battle

  • Sisters of Battle will be included in this years Chapter Approved 2018 book sometime before Christmas.
  • New heads were revealed. This is after the weapons were revealed for the new models last weekend. We will be getting reveals bit by bit apparently. The heads revealed will be shown on the Warhammer Community site here in a few hours, so stay tuned. They were good, but the reveal was less than I had hoped.
  • The Idea is that the Beta Codex with the Chapter Approved will give everyone a good look at the rules for existing models and provide a lot of extra opportunity for people to give feedback. Then we will see a new Sisters of Battle Codex release next year.

Orks......

  • Speedfreaks will be coming before the Ork codex in Orktober.
  • The Speedfreaks box game will be supported and there was mention of campaign play.
  • Warboss on Trike was revealed
Kill Team
  • Kill Team Command Roster coming soonish.....Free online army builder

Imperial Knights.....
  • A big performance by Duncan at the news that House Griffith will get Transfer sheets that also includes some minor houses
Warhammer Underworlds Nightvault
  • over a 100 new cards
  • New Warbands
  • New Magic dice and mechanic
  • the rules will include all existing warbands and rules and not leave them out
Age of Sigmar......
  • Realm of Chaos  Wrath and Rapture is coming out
  • It will include new models for both Khorne and Slaanesh!!!

  • The new Khorne and Slaanesh models will be for 40k as well
Warhammer Quest...... is coming to 40k!
  • Blackstone Fortress will be the first installation of Warhammer Quest in 40k
  • It will include new Chaos Marines! 3 were mentioned with another 7 as coming later.
  • The video for the Blackstone Fortress narrator is a new Rogue Trader Character........ sounds awesome

Here of course is the Warhammer Community Reveal!!!!

300 lucky fans have just had a chance to peer into the future at the Warhammer Community and Studio preview at the NOVA Open – and now it’s your turn.
We’ve got new models, boxed sets and awesome stuff you didn’t even know you were excited about until right now – so we’ll get stuck in immediately…
It’s an incredible time to be a Warhammer 40,000 player. Over the past year, you’ve enjoyed a massively fleshed-out new edition, with codexes for nearly every army in the game, radical new ways to play and incredible new models.
We’ve got big, big plans ahead – having almost completed stage one (our Unification of Terra, if you will) we can now begin our epic voyage onto a Great Crusade of incredible Warhammer 40,000 goodness.

Orktober Comes

You’ve waited, you’ve watched the other armies get their moment in the sun, and the time has finally come to unleash the Waaagh! upon the galaxy.
Speed Freeks is a high-Orktane racing game set in the desert expanses of Vigilus, pitting Orkish bikes and buggies against one another in brutal, unpredictable death races. As well as containing the Shokkjump Dragsta and the Kustom Boosta-blasta, you’ll be able to bring all the rest of the new Ork buggies to your games.

After you’ve played a few games, you’ll notice that you have enough models to start your own Speedwaaagh! in the form of an Outrider Detachment’s worth of buggies and Warbikes – but what Warboss could possibly keep up?

The Warboss on Deffkilla Wartrike is a brand-new, vehicle-mounted leader for your armies that allows you to field a force of nothing but Ork vehicles. Armed with boomsticks, jet-propulsion engines and a team of very angry Orks, it’s the ideal commander for your Speedwaaagh! – or just a very effective way to deliver a massive, klaw-wielding Warboss directly into your enemy’s lines.
The upcoming Codex: Orks is, quite frankly, the best Orks book ever. If you’re a veteran warboss, this is the book you’ve been waiting for, while if you’ve always been tempted to start a Waaagh! of your own but never quite got round to it, this is your chance.
We’ll be looking at the new rules in detail soon, but here’s something cool from the new book – Dakka! Dakka! Dakka!:
Previously seen as a Stratagem in Chapter Approved 2017, we’ve added this as a special rule on EVERY Orks unit that works ALL the time. You’ll never, ever hit on worse than a 6 – and you’ll get an extra shooting attack for free when you do so. If you believe in yourself, you can hit anything…
Orks are about to get a lot shootier – and that’s only part of it. Watch out for more Orks vehicles and more rules previews as Orktober approaches…

A Head Start on Sisters of Battle

You guys want some Sisters of Battle news?
We thought so.
Here’s a little peek behind the curtain at some early designs for the visages of the faithful – from pious initiates to battle-hardened Sisters Superior.

The Sisters of Battle are a varied force, with members hailing from across the galaxy in pursuit of holy war. This time around, we’ve been able to represent that with a range of characterful new faces you’ll be able to include in your army.
If you’re a die-hard Adepta Sororitas fan with an army ready and waiting to go for the new edition, we’ve got even more exciting news. We want to nail every aspect of this release, from models to rules – and to do that, we’re asking for the help of the biggest, best playtesting group in the world.
You.
This year’s Chapter Approved will feature a beta codex for the Adepta Sororitas – and we’re inviting you to try it out. You’ll have access to a huge pool of units, Stratagems, Relics and Warlord Traits to represent the orders of the Adepta Sororitas in your games – and your feedback on how you find them will help us make the final codex as awesome as it can possibly be.

The Knightly News

Imperial Knights players have had a great year, with four new variants to add to their armies and a codex that brings these valiant warriors to life as never before. We’re not done with Knights just yet – September will see a hero from the codex land on tabletops.

Sir Hekhtur will be available in a brand-new box that features parts for every single Questoris-class Knight, alongside new weapons for the Knight Preceptor and components that let you build detailed interior cockpits and scions for your household. What’s more, it’ll cost no more than the Knight Gallant set – essentially, we’ve thrown in an awesome extra frame for free!
And that’s not all.
With the new codex making rules available for a range of fan-favourite Knight Houses, we’ve had loads of requests for some old transfer sheets to be reprinted, with House Griffith among the most asked for.
So, next month, alongside Sir Hekhtur, you’ll be able to get your hands on a host of Knight Household Transfers – perfect for dedicating your Knights to the most renowned noble houses.

Building Your Kill Team – The Easy Way

If you’re anything like us here in the Warhammer Community team, you’ll be building lots of new kill teams – and we’re working on a way to make doing so super easy.
Joining Combat Roster and Warscroll Builder, Command Roster will be a free tool that lets you build matched play kill teams in no time. Look out for it soon.

A Noble Chapter Returns…

Thought lost for nearly a decade, and at the Imperium’s darkest hour, a noble Chapter returns…
That’s right, Turn Signals on a Land Raider, the much-loved classic Warhammer 40,000 webcomic, has a new home right here on Warhammer-Community.com – we’re partnering with creator Stephen to bring you the continuing misadventures of Krem, Frep and the Emperor’s Pointy Sticks.
Coming soon.

And that’s not the only webcomics news…
A lot of you will be familiar with the work of Sarah Kaiser – her endearing portraits are a regular feature on our websites. We thought her art was so cool that we hired her as a full member of the Warhammer Community team, and gave her a webcomic to illustrate.
Teaming up with our new artist is the writing team behind the Regimental StandardHammerhal Herald and Roll Models. Vhane Glorious will follow the quest of Buck Vhane – Rogue Trader Elucia Vhane’s dashing, handsome and completely useless brother – as he attempts to avoid doing any hard work in a universe wracked by war. Say hello!

Underneath the Underworlds
It’s amazing to think that just one year ago, fans at NOVA were trying Warhammer Underworlds for the first time. We’re happy to return with news of a brand-new season – Warhammer Underworlds: Nightvault.
Nightvault is season 2 of Warhammer Underworlds, bringing eight new warbands, hundreds of cards and new mechanics to the game.

The Shyish Necroquake rocks the Mortal Realms, and not even the hidden city of Shadespire is safe. As magical energies wrack the Mirrored City, more travellers are drawn there in search of glory – and so, Nagash has opened the Nightvault, an arcane prison used by the Katophranes of old to perform horrific experiments…

Nightvault features some of Warhammer Underworlds’ most unusual warbands yet, with some fan-favourite factions making their debut in the Mirrored City – as well as some things we’ve never seen before. In the Core Set, you’ll find a lightning-wielding trio of Sacrosanct ChamberStormcast Eternals and a grisly host of Chainrasps, led by the wraith-witch known as the Briar Queen.

Nightvault also features a brand new system of magic spells – powerful gambits and attack actions usable only by sorcerers. Spells add an additional layer of tactical depth to the game, as well as a number of interesting considerations when building your deck, promising to shake up tournaments (not to mention your games with your mates) considerably.

If you’re a seasoned explorer of Shadespire, Warhammer Underworlds: Nightvault is fully compatible with all the boards, cards and warbands you already own, while if you’re new, the Core Set is a great way to get involved, with a new rulebook, plus all the boards, dice and cards you need.

Nightvault will be out before the end of the year – in the meantime, here’s a sneak peek at another fighter from one of the upcoming warbands…
Squigs vs the eldritch horrors of a time-lost prison – it’s the matchup you never knew you needed.

In the Realm of Chaos…

Nagash may have shaken the Mortal Realms with the power of the Necroquake, but in a place beyond time and space, beyond all human comprehension, ancient powers continue their eternal conflict:
Now, who could that be? You’ll find out soon enough…

Gandalf the White™ and Pippin™

With the new rules available to pre-order, there’s never been a better time to return to Middle-earth – and it’s about to get even better. Having brought King Théoden to life in glorious plastic in the Battle of Pelennor Fields boxed set, more characters are due a long-awaited makeover – starting with Gandalf the White and Pippin as they appeared during this climactic conflict:
With the new Middle-earth Rules Manual and the Armies of The Lord of The Rings™ book gathering all the aforementioned forces and rules for easy reference, we’ll be supporting the game going forward with a series of in-depth campaign books designed to explore the most iconic moments from the series.
The first of these will be Gondor at War, covering the events of the War of the Ring as it sweeps across Gondor, from the ambush at Ithilien and the fall of Osgiliath to the Battle of Pelennor Fields and the march on the Black Gate of Mordor itself. You’ll find tactical primers, loads of scenarios and rewards for theming your army to the forces that fought in this time of war – like King Théoden’s final epic charge.

Event Endorsement

We love events.
Over the past few years, Warhammer Community has been lucky enough to attend tournaments and conventions around the world, bringing members of our studio teams (and a raft of exclusive reveals) to each. We’ve been really lucky to meet some incredible organisers, and we’ve been amazed by the dedication and commitment they show towards their events.

We want to extend our support to these events, creating a new, tiered system designed to keep track of everything from local tourneys to massive gatherings that draw hundreds of hobbyists together. The very best events will be receiving official endorsement – a Warhammer Community stamp of approval that assures you that if you attend this event, you’ll have a blast.

We’re very happy to name the NOVA Open as our first ever officially endorsed event. NOVA is an example of events at their very best, offering gaming, seminars and great company to all who attend. In our view, it’s a perfect representation of Warhammer at its finest, and we’ll be offering them our full support going forward. Keep an eye out for more news on Warhammer Community event endorsement soon.

Dark Adventure in the 41st Millennium

And one last thing you weren’t expecting…
Get ready to explore the world of Warhammer 40,000 as never seen before.
For years, you’ve clashed across the most war-torn battlefields of the 41st Millennium in hard-fought skirmishes and titanic conflicts – but the galaxy is a huge place, with many dark corners still to explore.
Just as Warhammer Quest allowed you to visit the sinister labyrinth of the Silver Tower and the bustling underworld of Hammerhal, now it will put you at the heart of one of Warhammer 40,000’s most enduring mysteries – a Blackstone Fortress.
Part role-playing adventure, part battle game, Warhammer Quest: Blackstone Fortress promises a cooperative narrative experience in the 41st Millennium like no other – and will feature a host of stunning new miniatures that bring all manner of champions and villains from the lore to life as never before.

Stand by for more news on Blackstone Fortress soon, along with everything else that’s been revealed. Of course, this is just the beginning of our coverage from the NOVA Open, with four days of Geoff and Frankie commentating on games of Warhammer 40,000 to look forward to.
