This is exciting. Really one of the first hints we have heard on when we might be seeing a new Eldar Codex, along with what might actually be in it.

It looks like we might be seeing this codex, as either the first or second codex of 6th edition. This means by next year this time, we will all be talking Eldar and nothing else. Craftworld Eldar are the one army, I have always wanted to do, but I have waited, as I want to really take my time and create a beautiful army.

Enough Talk, Lets get to the meat.

Please remember that with all rumors, to take with a grain of salt.

Little spider passed along a few rumors.

Eldar mid to late 2012. Possibly 1st or 2nd official 6 ed codex

Guardians being redone. Will include new weapons platform and storm guardian bits.

Avatar getting new fine cast version with weapon options (spear/sword) not as big as FW model, but larger than current.

Lots of new mech options. Jump pack/jet options for walkers similar to new FW models, but unclear if this is new model or upgrade to current model. Upgrade packs don't seem likely, and current model is decent, so I have my doubts about this rumor completely.

New tank options...built on wave serpent/falcon chassis still. Hydra like flak turret, Bonuses against flyers and skimmers. Dcannon tank. And some pulse cannon monster tank...scorpion?

New jet bikes and vypers.

New warlock sculpts.

New aspect sculpts, aspects still likely fine cast.

Some sort of shimmershield device. Portable cover save for a unit, but static once deployed...model in design for it. Sounds fishy to me? But the de have the portal...who knows, I say unlikely.

From obvious dept comes the nightwing and some form of bomber. Neither look at all like de ships, or existing FW. Definitely eldar.

Drop pod of some sort that can carry 20 troops, 10 wraith guard, or 1 wraith lord. Deploys as firebase that has higher cover rating for guardians. Sounds like a bastion that drops into play with a weapons platform attached. Not sure I buy into this rumor completely, it seems too complex the way it's been described. And I never saw any evidence of this in design before.

  1. Eldar were the first army that got me into W40k (my first Warhammer experience was the Dawn of War series computer games.) They're my second favorite race behind the Dark Eldar and when I was contemplating which army to start collecting I only went with the Dark Eldar because of their newer codex. There's no doubt in my mind I'll be grabbing Eldar when they get updated.

  2. to many releases and to many releas dates to be serious info...
more than 4-5 releases is just wishfull thinking

if they do redo eldar i would put my money on jetbikes and wraithguard redone

but since this rumor is also building on that, BoK 6th ED for 2012, rumor to be true... i highlly dought we will see eldar any time soon.
caus the rumor orig. said tau, CSM & BTs for 2012 :D

  3. This isnt the first time that Eldar were mentioned for next year, nor is BoK the only source for 6th edition coming next year.

Next year is still up for grabs, and with this latest information, eldar are in the running for 2012. With these kind of details coming forward, and from a pretty reliable source, I am putting my faith in Eldar seeing the light of day next year.

However, rumors are rumors. Even GW may not have finalized all their release plans for next year yet. So only time will tell.

  4. All very exciting stuff! My Eldar is just sitting here collecting dust. Maybe this will give me a good excuse to get them back on the field again. That is if Eldrad can manage not to trip over dead Chimeras and die to guardsmen. ;)

  5. I would love to see a new eldar codex next year! The dark kin have been lording it over us for almost a year now with their fancy venoms and whatnot so the time is ripe for the craftworlders to turn the tables.....

I just hope this is true and not just wishlisting!!

  6. I feel the same way about a Word Bearers army, but the current Codex pales to it's predecessor. It's always a really bad thing when an older Codex was better than a newer. Just the other day I was asking you about the Eldar Jetbike and missing finecast models.

  7. This is the most I have heard about Eldar in some time. Some tidbits were floating around that we were going to see eldar releases next year, but nothing was specific.

As for the finecast models, I have not seen anything. If the codex is indeed due next year though, it may be they are not going to update them until the codex. Speculation though.

  8. Plastic Howling Banshees and new finecast Wraithguard makes perfect sense, though I doubt we will be seeing new guardians, not simply to incorporate the close combat variant. The new jetbike has been around for years. I have serious doubts as to the large amount of new tanks. The Wave Serpent, Falcon, Nightspinner and Fire Prism offer enough tactically flexible armored power.

    This is what I foresee for the Eldar;
Plastic Howling Banshees, Swooping Hawks and Fire Dragon Aspect Warriors.
    New Finecast Wraith Guard
No new Avatar as it has already been done in Finecast.
    Plastic Nightwing

    Speculation.

  9. just white dwarf the eldar, cut the point cost on heavy weapons and transports, 80 point wave serpents with twin-linked shurken cannon sounds about right, all eldar weapon mounts get shurken cannons for free, 5 point scatter laser 10 point ELM 20 point star cannon/bright lance. 5 point strap on shunken cannon, make warp spiders death spinners rending and pinning, add on rules that make the autarch simulate differnt craft worlds such as, jet bikes squadrens led by autrachs are out flanking(sam-hain) counts as warlock with 2 powers and any Guardian squad led by him at the start of the game counts as black (ulthwe). and let writh lords mount D-cannons and you are good to go for a few years

  10. I really hope eldar get a assault vehicle to use, would really help my banshees

  11. I heard yesterday that Tau's codex is coming first, then Eldar by early summer 2012. Supposedly source has been watching GW stock info leaking out to shareholders...

  13. thing i like to see most is basic gardians buff it be nice if you can opt to take up to 2 black gardians squads like in 4th ed with 4 ws and 4 bs.
i like to see a fully kitted out gardian squad have a warlock opertunity to use 1 heavy and 2 template weapon and/or fusion gun for every 10 gardians in squad
storm gardians should be able to be lead by a dire avenger exarch as a sargent or a worlock not both and per every 5 gardians may either have any fallowing wepons power fist, fusion pistol, flammer, euip any or all gernades
lastly i know the fluff say eldar dieing race but fluff was tossed out window 6th edd so allow gardians to possibly fild up to 30 man unit.

another fix is make the viper jet bikes a 5 toughness 2 wound jetbike with WS of 2 leadership 7 stubborn rules so they will alwayse rally automaticly if they meet the requirements too such as no enemy with in 6 inches

i think wraithguard deserve a 5+ invulnerability because they are made purly out of the same material as warlocks body armor that gives them a +4, same with the wraithlord.
i think if both these units were immune to poisen and psykic abilities friend or foe makes more sence to me.

    PLEASE bring back bonesingers!
PLEASE bring back the full harlequin army!
PLEASE bring back all the different craftworld eldar army list for more flavor and customization and fluf but put them all in 1 codex.
