It looks like Harry has been chiming in a lot lately about 40k, which is a game he doesn't know much about (according to him). Today Harry has mentioned a couple codex releases that he expects to see for 2013. To be fair he was discussing his latest on the Autumn of flyers, however he mentioned this little bit.

via Harry
we get both Tau and Eldar next year and they both come with Flyers.

Also via Straightsilver
I would say Tau early 2013, and Eldar late 2013, but every time I hear about Tau I add about a year on now

Where this leaves the latest little bits about Chaos Daemons being early next year is still a mystery. However I put a lot of faith in Harry's rumors.

  3. Given that this is the year of 40k (apparently) I want to see at least three codices and a rulebook this year...
Unlikely, but at least we can live in hope... that they won't all be power armour!

  4. Craptuclar news for the Tau... once again...

also, they may change it up since they want to concentrate on Chaos. No more SM/IG - Xenos release. May go the route of Order versus Chaos... but to have two Order releases after 6th drops is hard to imagine as well.

  7. Tau was updated 7 years ago eldar 6 i think. tau is a hugely popular army (at least in my area) that needs new models and big rule changes. Eldar isn't just in need of an update because they are old, they need out because they are one of the staples of 40k. I don't know about you but when i think games workshop, i think marines chaos orks and eldar.

    1. But what GW wants you to think is MARINES MARINES MARINES!!!!!!!! You have been warned...

    2. He said Marines...

    3. Marines as in only thinking of them and no other army (like tau)

    4. Actually, I never think Eldar when I think 40k. Or Tau, for that matter. I don't really know very many people who play either. I normally think Chaos Marines, Siege of Vraks, Apocalypse battles. If I consider anything else, it would be Astral Claws (amazing fluff), Orks, Tyranids, Dark Eldar, Necrons, Imperial Guard, rest of the Space Marines. I've never heard anyone say that Eldar are one of the main 40k armies, even the select few Eldar players I know. And they might be old, but IMO, Eldar have better models than Chaos Marines...

  8. "but every time I hear about Tau I add about a year on now" Sounds about right. As GW continues its trend of updating factions with progressively more OP close combat units, the one race notorious for lacking any true melee fighting ability is looking more and more outdated.

  9. 2015 for a tau codex is sounding less and less like a sarcastic joke.
Oh well, my Tau have a good 6 months worth of dust on them at this point. What's a few more years?
    As usual thanks GW.

  10. On an unrelated topic, Has anyone looked at the minis in the 40k starter paint set? They seem to have Dark Angels symbols sculpted onto their shoulder pad. Have we seen those before, or could it be a mini from the upcoming starter set?
