Please remember that these are rumors and are to be taken with salt.

i just post what i've been told by GW friends, and we're not talking red shirts or just store managers. When I have thoughts of my own or personal hopes, I state them as such.
The new Codex is done, and yeah, it should be leaving the printers shortly, to be stored up in ware houses for distribution within the next couple of months. As for models, apparently 4 waves are planned...there's a lot of Chaos to be covered. With the Daemons to be redone sometime next year (2013) for both 40K and Fantasy, we'll see the new Greater Daemon models then.
Interesting that vehicle upgrades have been brought up, especially for Legion specific types of weapons, and apparently we do get some similar to the old "3.5" codex in these. Poisoned flamers for Nurgle, higher strength/lower AP for Tzeentch, sonic weaponry for Slaanesh and brutal blades for Khorne? Raptors are Night Lords, where as Assault Marines are all Legions and can be marked.
As i've already mentioned, HQs will have an affect on the types of units/marks available to your Army. IF 6th Edition returns to Percentages, the Codex will make more sense...

Nothing more on a DA codex then?
ReplyDeletethank god the DA is such a lie and waste of time
DeleteI'd take Chaos over Dark Angels any day of the week, and twice on weekends...
DeletePersonally, I beleive that if we see Chaos Legions in May, then Dark Angels will be in the 3rd or 4th Qtr.
DeleteIndeed I would say Dark Angels are at some point this year from what we have seen, I would be shocked if Chaos was not first, tons of rumours from most rumour holes. Even if half of them are wrong Chaos still has more chatter.
DeleteIn May we aren't going to see chaos legions, we are going to see necrons
Deletecould also be a June release. Who knows.
Delete[sarcasm]
Delete2 Marine release in a year and nothing else it would seem. Truly we are blessed. Thank you so much GW...
[/sarcasm]
Well, there is that whole Sixth Edition thing...
DeleteAnd the Black Legion remains weak???
ReplyDeletelol You're really going to critique the codex based on three paragraphs of rumors? Really?
Deleteno, but there is not anything special to them
DeleteGw hq: "know those popular armies full of models that can't be substituted for half of the other codices? Let's ignore them and make more spess mareens!"
ReplyDeletedeath to the false emperor and DA hope the DA dont get done this year or next year or the year after that or ever, i hope that they just get forgotton cos they take up shelve space and design time that could be used for better armies. The only special thing about them is that their green( cough cough salamanders) and they wear cloaks ( cough cough scouts) ( so hang on are they actually special nope their just another spess marine chapter cough cough) yes so as i say special. :-) DA are very special cough cough "last words of the tau tank kept in secret storage until 2014 before he died of bordom of waiting"
ReplyDeleteDark Angels actually wear robes, not cloaks. I will agree though that there really doesn't seem to be much to differentiate them from codex Marines. Their two special features are Ravenwing bike troops, which codex Marines can also do, and Deathwing Terminator troops, which codex Marines should be able to do. If they do release a new Dark Angels Codex, they really need to come up with some fresh ideas for them
DeleteI do think it is fair to say they would spice things up. Also on the mention of development time it does not take more or even the same amount of time to produce a space marine codex then an alien one (or even Chaos with the ton of new stuff possibly coming)
DeleteWhen they first came out they were actually pretty different, which is why they need an update. And the Raven Wing squads are more than just Bikes.
DeleteAnd seriously, since they are in the starter kit it looks they they are going to be the new poster boys for Marines. Would you rather see more Space Smurfs taking up shelf space?
Be nice, I'm sure there are more than a few DA players that would take offense to that.
ReplyDeleteI'm a DA player, but the most important thing to remember is It's only a game. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, even if it is wrong.
DeleteSome people are threatened by Chapters that follow their own path. I can understand that when lock-step prostrating is the norm for other Chapters. ;)
DeleteThe problem with Dark Angels is that they don't do anything different from the other chapters. Apart from the Ultramarines they're probably the most generic chapter out of the first founding.
DeleteI assume you're talking rules-wise because their flavor is quite different. From what I understand, in previous editions, they were quite unique and that a new codex could accentuate those rules differences.
DeleteHaving said that, I actually do feel as if the Dark Angels AND the Black Templars would be best served by being rolled into a new, large, hard-bound Space Marines codex along with the other chapters highlighted currently for 6th edition. But that's one man's opinion.
I was talking rules-wise, yes. While I quite enjoy the Dark Angels flavor, there really isn't a need to have a separate rulebook unless they actually need different rules. Most of the rule differences they've had in the past have felt very tacked on. Black Templar I could see having its own rulebook since they are quite different in terms of organization and fighting style, but it probably would be better to just fold them back in as they seem a bit left out at the moment.
DeleteMight have to dust of my Iron Warriors or Emperor's Children once this comes out, I had mothballed them both ever since 3.5 became outdated. Or I just might start some Nightlords, assuming they get some plastic models, since I always liked their fluff.
ReplyDeleteBlack Legion are most likely still boring, yet continue to be the GW's Chaos equivalent to the Ultramarines.
The difference being the Ultramarines get a nice model for their special character.
DeleteDon't forget at one time thy were all stubborn, with a lot of plasma. Also I can't wait to field my sonic dread, and my 40 fully sonic emperors children. DEATH TO THE FALSE EMPEROR!
ReplyDeleteHope new plastic greater daemons and not finecast ones.
ReplyDeleteI'm waiting for Squats....
ReplyDeleteIm squatting while I wait.
Deletethe DA codex released the last month. isnt a roumor
