We all get it that there is no model, no codex entry, and no near future release of this model. However, its very difficult anymore to have a conversation about the Dark Eldar without Vect coming up. It's been a long time since the last model was released, and even then it was not the best of the range. The only thing you can still get are the slave girls from the Asdrubael Vect Dias of Destruction model. OK, they are called prisoners (don't want to offend). So literally we have the girls from the same model surviving and still available on the GW site much longer than Vect himself, which is interesting.

Will GW eventually do an Asdrubael Vect miniature? I have to hope its a yes, but we have seen the reset-clocks from Duncan which Vect was not listed, so that puts him somewhere behind a Plastic Thunderhawk. So with no reset clock, and the one model that many Dark Eldar players dying to purchase not anywhere on the horizon, even a very far horizon...... What are we to do?

Got some ideas Dark Eldar players.....

  1. Create our own rules, and customize out a new one (Ive already done this one)
  2. Shelf them.... (Hey, Ive done this one too)
  3. Wait patiently.... (OMG, have I already done all these possible answers)
  4. Rage and right articles, and question GW at every possible moment until we will get him.... (well, article done now, so cross this one off the list)
  5. Buy Duncan a new reset clock with Vects name on it......(might be on to something here)

Disclaimer: I cannot be responsible for any clock or clocks with Vects name on it being sent to GW for Duncan to hang on the Reset Wall. Please do not do this..... shhhh maybe its a good idea, natfka quietly steps backwards fading into the looming shadows.

Next up will be "what ganked natfka in those looming shadows."

  • Vect himself
  • GW Agents, ya know the ones that arrive at your door
  • the clockmaker for not wanting to make all those additional clocks.
  • Duncan, who is literally Asdrubael Vect in disquise

Codex released, and yes... its not just me that wants this model!!!!!!!
This is from all the most respectable players in the 40k universe asking and commenting on the most important question in Warhammer 40k and includes an answer that we all know.

There is no model for Vect, so he is not in the Codex. Imagine this conversation:
*Eager Young Hobbyist enters Games Workshop store and approaches Games Workshop Staff*
GWS: Hey how you doing today?
EYH: I'm really good! I just got the new Drukhari Codex! It's super awesome!
GWS: It's brilliant, isn't it?! So, what have you come in for?
EYH: Well, I read about the character called Vect! He's so cool! I can't wait to have him lead my army! Can I buy him please?!!
GWS: No.
EYH: Oh. That's weird.
We want to avoid that situation as much as possible, so we do not include rules for things we don;t do a model of. I hope that makes sense!

Dave Cole Simply because they don’t sell a model for vect anymore so they didn’t include him in the codex

Charles Davidson But I've seen Vect across the battlefield before and it was a GW model.

Dave Cole That be the old model discontinued a long time ago and it shows it’s age badly.

Ross Chippendale It does make sense, just a shame that the old 3rd edition model of Vect didn't get reimagined in plastic when the 5th edition codex came out.

It would be nice to see a Vect model for future editions.

Kevin Lefevre well that doesn't explain why GW doesn't make a new model for him then.
Especially when they do new models for new factions and new units in existing factions while some factions are missing models for pre-existing units.
It seems a bit weird to create new styles of marines, yet another power armor imperium faction range, when there are so many missing or outdated models all over the place.

Peter Haynes Vect is mentioned 99 times in the new book.
Malys is mentioned 17 times.
The Decapitator, only 1 (which was surprising considering his role in saving Commoragh during the Gathering Storm)

Of the 16 Codex releases since the new edition of the game, only a handful have received new models, and only 2 have even received new cover art. They are currently prioritising rules updates over models in this new edition, which is something that the game has needed...

Rod Sokiar Maybe one day we'll get a LoW Vect in a very badass raider, during a campaign like magnus... wait and see. But we have a fu**ing insane codex it's just far beyond my craziest wishes. So... be happy of what you have and enjoy it!

Douglas Reid @ Games Workshop - There’s no model for the Grey Knight Grandmaster in Dreadnight armour either. But he has rules. I think this is the biggest problem I have with the new edition, so much ability to customise has been cut down or over complicated. Heck...See More

Peter Haynes What about players who built warriors with shard carbines for their units of trueborn over the past 7-8 years? What do they do with those models now? This was a much easier "conversion" than a Grey Knight Grandmaster in Dreadknight armour...

Peter Haynes Eric Emerson I think the underlying reason is that minis are more expensive to produce than books... It takes sculptors and engineers months to develop a single plastic kit. Something as big as a Vect on Dais of Destruction is a complicated task.
Also, most kits are in a long production queue waiting their turn, which is why it's not uncommon to see the previous year or even earlier, stamped on the plastic frames.
