White Dwarf Leaks: Hive Crone, Exocrine, and More

There are a lot of picture leaks now running around of the January White Dwarf. You can see the new box releases, and pictures of the new models in the lineup.

Of course we have seen the information presented in these pictures, but its nice to go over and check them out.

We are only a few days out now from the actual release now of the White Dwarf and pre-orders going live for Tyranids. Here are two different links to the pics that are out there.

  1. BTB - So everyone knows, my local FLGS got their hands on one of the new Tyranid monsters (specifically, the one with the Hentai Maw) and was putting it together as we speak. I don't suspect we'll be seeing again until release day though. Nor do I have a Camera...

    1. One of the unfriendly shops in my area is starting the same except they claim to have the entire bid line. I highly doubted it at the time.

    2. I've gotten a hold of a fair number of "black boxes" a month before their release.

I thought they quit releasing them though?

    1. Wouldnt it be 2 unmentioned psychihc powers 6 you roll for and the primaris power? So 7 powers total?

    2. The other two are onslougt and paroxysm.

The army list in the battle report mentions powers too.

  3. Dominion ads 6" to synapse
Psychic sream is 6" Nova, 2d6 plus whats looks like a "3" minus ld of hit untis becomes wounds. No armour or cover save allowed.

    1. That follows the previous rumor almost verbatum.

  4. Nice to see more info. But we still haven't seen anything at all regarding Genestealers, apart from the data slate that will give them different rules. Will they be made viable again?

    1. I think the new rules for catalyst and army wide points reductions are what are going to make stealers increasingly viable...especially with a guarunteed horror power for synergy.

    2. The Genestealers are actually on the small pics taken from the codex. :)
      Same statline. Rending claws.
Still Fleet, Infiltrate, Move trough cover.
      14p each.
      Glands 2p, Sacs 3p.
Add a Broodlord for 60p, same stats on him as well,
He can take upgrades from the "Biomorph list"

    3. Captain,

Please let me know if you see anything at all about the Shadow in the Warp, it's the biggest unknown secret about the codex yet. When we find out it could be meta changing, or it could be shrug worthy.

    4. All I can see is that the Warriors still has it.. :(

    5. I appreciate you looking nonetheless.

    6. Good points (and thanks for the info Captain) but it's sad to see they haven't changed at all. Points reduction on other units just means I'll take the other units instead of the Stealers. Hopefully the data slate will give them something fun to play with!

  5. Someone on WarpShadow just broke some rumors that are 99% confirmed by an inside source at GW - said SitW is -3 LD to psychic tests, 12" range.

It means that marines will have to roll below average on 2d6 to get their powers off, and eldar will have to roll exactly average each time - very useful in deed!

    1. It would mean that Seerstars would become much less viable...as LD7 for fortune and LD 5 for the rest.

  7. Apparenlty I'm very lucky to have the WD already.
I do not want to have all the good stuff just to myself, so I made a vid for all my fellow Tyranidfans.
Select full screen and HD, then you should be able to pause and read for yourself.
    Happy New Year! :)

  8. I can't believe how cheap that battleforce is!!! I will definitely be buying one.

  9. Something I wanted to point out, not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet. In the army listing in the WD, they have a scythed heirdule as a heavy slot. Yes we know they threw the FOC out, but look at the point cost. As far as I am aware, that is cheaper than the current cost. Cheaper now than the Barbed heirdule as well.

Basically does this lead to an update of the scythed heirdule coming, or am I not aware of the most up to date rules?

    1. 535 is what it costs in the current IA apocalypse

    2. Thats why i'm asking, I'm looking at IA Apoc 2nd edition, and I see 600.

    3. I'm not sure what edition it is but I have the current one with the recent necron units and the heirophant biomorph update and it has the scythed heirodule listed at 535 points

  10. Does anyone else think 'Alphakrieger' is a better name than "Prime"? In fact, I think I like all the German names better...

  11. Captain Gallas, is there anything in the white dwarf battle report or in the blurb about each species that gives us any insight that we don't already have from the rumor mill?

Anything that points to close combat being more effective, or something that helps us get there while taking less damage, etc? Anything about assaulting after run? Mitigating over-watch?

Also, is the exocrin/haruspex on a different sized base than the tervigon/tryanofex? The image from the WD showing the size comparisons almost looks like the exocrine kit is on a larger round base rather than an oval base - can you shed light on that?

  12. Will the pyrovore be the new must have unit? Would totally make my day
