Forgeworld Re-directs on the GW Webstore!

We have talked about Forgeworld becoming more mainstream and available for quite some time. It appears that the day is right around the corner now, as Forgeworld re-directs are now on the GW Webstore.

What is a re-direct? When typing in the address, the site autocorrects and finishes the address for you.

The list of re-directs is huge on this.... all for Forgeworld categories. there is even a more interesting page that shows up.... Check this one out.

  1. What exactly does this do for the community?

    1. Community? Not sure.
Accessibility to FW sales? Huuuuuge increase.

    2. I don't get it. So instead of directly typing forgeworld.co.uk you can type games-workshop.com and buy the same stuff. Doesn't exactly rock my socks off.

    3. Right now, those path bring you to a blank page that will be fill soon with items to purchase.

That mean, easier access to FW products!
Right now, you still have to go to Forgeworld.co.uk, but that will change soon

    4. £40.00 order for free delivery from GW homepage, think of the savings dude!

    5. Since you can order it from gw directly, Im guessing you can have your order shipped to a store for free postage.

    6. It makes Forge World allot more visible.

    7. I'm wondering if we won't see set pricing for currencies other than the pound. If so that could have a bit of a kick for certain people. GW doesn't like to deal with fluctuating exchange rates and would likely set a price that is overly favorable to the pound to deal with any fluctuations on a long term basis.

    9. Forgeworld isn't any less accessible now. You order, and they ship it to you. Unless they plan on dropping the VAT I'm not sure how it's any more "accessible".

      Delete
    10. Maybe it will help with people allowing FW in games.

      Delete
    11. It'd be more accessible assuming they offer other currencies, and combine orders with non forgeworld orders. Might not be a big deal in the UK but for me in North America, it'd be a nice change.

      Delete
    12. It will also mean a huge savings on shipping, and stores may be able to start getting FW stuff Direct.

    13. Being able to ship FW items to a local GW for free is a pretty big deal for me. It would also be nice to be able to see through the books in the store.

    14. Have you ever had the annoying experience of having to buy a Hive Tyrant from GW and the twin linked devourer upgrade from FW? You have to buy them from two separate sites, meaning you pay for shipping twice. With this, your items get grouped together. It's awesome.

      Delete
    15. The hope is that by putting it on the main site, it will become available for stores to buy through direct. It is a pain for stores, but it is better than not having then available at all.

    16. Just a note:
For everyone thinking "you will be able to save money! ' you will save vat!"
You really think GW would pass any savings on to us?
      Really?

    1. It's for the Corn, I mean Khorne release. They've been doing this stuff for previous releases like Games-W-Ork-shop

  3. Does this mean we can use GW e-vouchers to buy forge world stuff? That would be great!

    ReplyDelete
  4. Just give me free shipping at a reasonable cut-off price for the total purchase and that's the only way this means anything. And please make this happen before FW discontinues every last fantasy sculpt!

  5. Is GW getting it together guys or what? Seems like some great things are happening.

    1. If by great things, you mean 30$ single figures instead of the old 15, yeah. It's pretty great.

      Delete
    2. "Great things" such as the annihilation of Fantasy, the continued stasis of SoB, the kitchen sink/model sales-centric approach to armybuilding, rules getting increasingly obtuse, or...?

      Delete
    3. Ok, by great things I mean Cult codexes, Mechanicus, Harlequins, and, if it pans out right, FW available on the GW site. Jury is out on WFB we do not know what will happen. Sororitas I feel are coming. Formations are optional. No one likes price hikes, obviously, but it's not all doom and gloom.

    4. ^ it is if all your wargaming buddies are priced out of the hobby due to price increases (it can't happen? it did for my mates)

    5. I'm with you Luke Smith, they've come a long way since the chaos of January 2014 and it takes a while for a goliath like GW to put changes in motion but they've moved way faster than I expected, and managed to keep some secrets for pleasant surprises. Sure, the hobby is expensive and that's not gonna change. Hobbit priced itself out fast, but who knows what happened there.

Seems to me they did listen to feedback and have given us lots--but you'll never make everyone happy all the time. Adepticon is tomorrow and with all the new stuff out over the past year I can't wait to see the painted armies and presentation for 40K and Fantasy. Hell, even all the FW stuff for Horus Heresy event.

BTW: for fellow Americans the pound is lower right now 1 = $1.50 and that's good for FW orders. 250 pounds was $417 US but today is $374:)
I agree that the inclusion of FW on GW site would hopefully reduce shipping charges and I would hope would adopt the same fulfillment terms as GW mainstream ($65 + is free).

      We'll see! :)

  6. What is the future for Forgeworld if it gets merged under the GW umbrella? Will FW items get a stamp on it. Will IA book continue or will they use the FW resources to produce more mini-dex and campaign books (sort of similar to IA books)?

  7. My local Gw store is doing a great crusade campaign in the coming months 30k and 40k armies are welcome. Dunno how relevant that is

  8. What a load of shite. The Forgeworld site is still up and running and all categories work normally.

  9. Love when they play with the logo and give hints. Orks was fun. That first WD Weekly even had the price $4 equivalent in Teef! :) It was subtle and missed by many.

  13. Well on the 16th of May, Warhammer World is opening the worlds first Forgeworld store with access to the full range and exclusives. That could mean that FW stuff is becoming more widely available elsewhere too.
