Eldar Rumors

While way off still, there is some Eldar in the rumor mill this morning. According to the latest rumors, Eldar are somewhere towards the end of this year, or early next.

Please remember that these are rumors.

Eldar will receive new miniatures releases this year, but probably not a new codex. Eldar will be part of one of the year’s two 40K campaign sets. Miniatures listed are: 1 Small Vehicle box (chatter says a Jetbike based unit) 2 5-model infantry boxes (2 more Aspects move to plastic) 2 Clampack models (chatter points to 2 updated plastic Phoenix Lords)

  1. Remember the striking scorpions and eldar with Halebred rumor? I bet this is Vect, scorpions/incubi, and Karandras along with Ahra/ Drazhar. Kind of goes along with current rumors...

    1. I'm sorry that just makes no sense. Have you ever seen GW release a dual kit for multiple factions? They don't even have one that goes across Space Marine Codices.

    2. It wouldn't be too far off with Striking Scorpions and Incubi, head swaps and arm swap, voila. That said, just because they've never done it doesn't mean they won't.

    3. while i generally advocate "anything is possible" i dont see them releasing a dual-kit for two different factions. primarily cos its bad for marketing.

what do you mean you cant find the dark eldar incubi models you want? just go look for striking scorpions in the eldar section! thats them!

    4. obviously this wouldnt be such a problem online, but im thinking if youre looking for the kit in-store itd be a bit of a nightmare, especially if it were to spread to multiple kits

    5. You're right, it's highly unlikely, but I don't think it's impossible or such a bad idea, but when you put it like that, yeah. I'm only deriving it from a past rumor.

    6. Where Aspects have fixed equipment, they're ripe for the sort of one-box-two-units style of thing like the Zoanthrope/Venomthorpe.

    7. Only once, scions were dual branded MT and AM

    8. no space marine things released across other factions (since chapters/legions are "different" factions within a faction not including chaos, again same deal) we have:
      Land Raider
      Rhino
      Predator
      Dread

could be more (most likely is) that proves that there has been multiple SM cross faction miniatures.

    9. for example above all but dreads are imperial kit with a chaos spiky sprue. sure this is a technicality but technically it still counts

    10. The Taurox literally said Astra Militarum Taurox/Militarum Tempestus Taurox Prime on the same box though

    11. Visually though Scorpions and Incubi look different, so I doubt it.
A multi kit that makes more sense would be:
-Fire Dragons / Dire Avengers (although the avengers has a kit)
-Guardian Jetbikes / Shining Spears /Warlock Jetbikes.

  2. Eldar, CSM, Tau, Mechanicus... and where are Dark Angels????

    1. Well Dark Angels do need a new codex, and desperately, it's just the codex they need. This sounds like just new models for Eldar with no rules, which the Eldar desperately need as well. ESPECIALLY the Warp Spiders and Phoenix Lords. The bikes need updating as well but at least they are plastic, have you seen how old the Warp Spider sculpt is?

    2. They bring in a ton of money because a lot of new people start with them through Dark Vengeance and then quickly realise they're not the best and buy a second new/better army. And with the rumor of a new Space Marine codex this year I really wouldn't be surprised if they get included in that.

    4. Tau where rumored at one point to get a big land vehicle, and a kroot supplement.

    5. Dark Angels have Azrael, Belial, Samael, Ezekiel and Asmodai (plus the DV chaplain who was errata-ed into the book) 2 specialist flyers, 2 specialist speeders, black Knights, and deathwing Knights; plus 2 specialist command squads. SMis already GW's largest codex, they aren't going to add 13-14 units to it.

And the rumor is no new Eldar codex.

    6. and I'm reasonably sure the "no eldar CODEX" means the rumors of a new SM codex are bunk too

      Delete
    7. No new "redone" codices for the foreseeable. These are supplements.

    8. Space marines will absolutely not get a new codex anytime in the next 18 months that's for sure. Dark Angels however might get an update in the form of FAQ/errata to bring it more in line with the current edition.

  3. I would think it would be really easy to add the Phoenix Lords into the Aspect Warrior kits just like Nork Deddog was added to the Ogryn kit.

    1. This makes more sense to me, them they don't have to worry about a clampack losing sales too much after a release

      Delete
    2. it would however mean they may not appear as imposing as they should in model form, as theyd only be as big as a standard aspect warrior (minus head/weapons of over-sizedness)

      Delete
    3. if they made aspect warriors like the wyche kit had a stock standard body armor type, then they had arms/weapons and heads different. then call it the aspect shrine upgrade set or something. make 5-10 models of either hawks/banshees's or dragons/scorps.

that would draw me closer to buying into eldar (for custom shrine creation)

      wishlist that will never happen.

    1. welcome your new foam overlords

    2. Yeah, I just invested in battle foam. Even if not I would choose them again over seeing those new citadel ones. To much foam smooshing for my comfort.

      Delete
  7. What I want to know is did all the old carry cases get sent back to HQ? What are they doing with them? And can I get some old foam cheap?

  8. Based on the current model appearances the most likely combination of dual kits would be: Fire Dragons & Striking Scorpions, Howling Banshees & Swooping Hawks, Warp Spiders & Dark Reapers, Shining Spears & Windriders.

These kits would all share the same armour types as well as having poses that would allow the legs (which are always the limiting factor in GW boxes) to be used for each choice.

    1. it'd be good if the legs are separate of the torso, then you can get different posed aspect warriors. also i'd imagine if they ever did combo shrine kits then they'd be like above as you mentioned.

conversion heaven (for eldar of both varieties and the clown car variety)

    2. A Guardian box that allow for Storm Guardians would not be to bad either.

      Delete
  9. Wait.
Is the rumour saying that they ARE Aspect Warriors?
Or guessing that they could be Aspect Warriors?
Because reading that it could just as easily be Guardians, Rangers, a Warlock and Spiritseer.
Of course, saying that. I do hope that if/when Warlocks get plasticised, it's a box kit and not a clampack of just one sculpt.

Ortherwise, if this is AW then the Jetbike could easily have the parts for Shining Spears, one 'light' kit with Banshees, Scorpions, those winged flying ones and their associated phoenix lords and one 'heavy' kit with Reapers, Dragons, Spiders and their associated Lords.

  10. I remember Jubby Munky mentioning an Eldar Plastic release a while ago, I think it was plastic Warlocks and new Jet Bikes and some others, fingers crossed :)
