Eldar and Space Marines

According to the very latest, Space Marines will get an updated codex this summer. The rest of the timeline that Lord of War Gaming is predicting has mention of Raven Guard, Eldar, Tau and Admech.

Please remember that these are rumors.

-Don't know about a Raven Guard supplement but Adeptus Astartes: Space Marines will release this summer.

-Lords of War Gaming Yes. After Admech it will be codex Craftworld: Eldar. Plastic jetbikes and Artach.

  1. He also denied the DA Tzench rumours if I am not mistaken.

  2. LoW leaked the Ad Mech stuff months ago right?

    2. ... he has leaked nothing tbh ... he just said "ad mech in april, tanks will be walker" .... well, that information wasn't new back then ..

    3. The first Skitarii information came from this site back in the first week of January. The ad mech in april was a very recent rumor.

    4. yep, and we had real artworks of the vanguard back in january ... and real URL's a few weeks before the release :P

  3. If the Marine Codex does get redone this year, I bet it has more to do with I.P. than anything else.

    ... Adeptus Astartes: Space Marines

    1. No matter how much they want to protect their I.P. I really don't see them putting out a new codex less than two years after the last one. The shortest time between release (off the top of my head) is about four years. It would make so much more sense from a business perspective to work on things that aren't as well supported rather than refresh something that is still quite current. Of course this is only my opinion and it is still GW we're talking about but I would be extremely surprised to see printed 6th ed codices redone this year.

    2. Although you're theory that I agree with still stands - that really is the only reason to redo them this year (and not a great one at that).

    3. Rumors are that forgeworld products will soon be available for sale on the GW website. A new space marine codex could also include all the forgeworld space marine models (sicaran battle tank, contemptor dreadnought....)

      Delete
    4. That alone would be a good reason to redo the codex

    5. Come to think of it...

There were rumours at the end of 2014 that G.W. had redone most of the core Marine plastics i.e. terminators, assault squad etc..

G.W. Might release these kits to coincide with the Codex.

Just a theory - might all come to nothing.

    6. ^ if 9th fantasy flops then what does GW do often when it Fubars something? it releases space marines to overcompensate and to distract the consumer/player base.

    7. About the Forge and Space Marines. They could have done the same thing with Khorne Daemonkin book - it could include Blood Slaughterer and Khorne Decimator and a lot of other Khorne-y things. They didn't. I doubt that SMs will have something from Forge, since Forge won't be able to keep the production on the same level as the plastic models

    8. What they could do, however, is make some build other than Bikes viable. They could also make plastic the Techmarine and Thunderfire Cannon; not to mention unique detachments, formations, and Lords of War, which weren't in the previous book.

It would just be a more 7th-ed appropriate book.

I wouldn't be surprised if they removed some of the chapters for later releases as mini-codices too.

    9. All the FW space marine stuff is available through the imperial armour books, they can't fit all of that into a codex, the book itself is huge!

      Delete
    10. They have done it before with Tyranids and a Vampire Counts Army book, I would not be surprised tbh.

      Delete
  4. Really not putting any faith in these rumours at all. I think it's more likely that those armies will be getting supplemental material and LoW have their wires crossed or something. Both codices work fine in 7th and Space Marines have a pretty much up to date model range so what could they even do with the codex besides arranging it in the 7th ed dataslate format?

Besides, from a business perspective, it doesn't even make sense to update one of your core products (Space Marines) so quickly. Unless they've secretly been working on a crapload of new models to milk the release for as much cash as possible, it'd be a bit of a diminishing return to release a new Marine dex.

    2. 7thedn-izing the SM codex would make sense given just how many SM that GW sells...

  5. Perhaps this isn't a new codex. What if they're just re-titling the existing Space Marine Codex? This might lead credence to the rumors of a "new" Dark Angels Codex. They're changing the title to Adeptus Astartes: Dark Angels. Nothing to substantiate any of this, just thinking "aloud".

    1. It is a shame that since the end of fourth edition they have never reprinted books to update errors etc. The reintroduction of this practice would be welcome I'm sure.

      Delete
    2. The thing is, that if they did reprint books to take into account errors, FAQs, etc, Games Workshop would be crucified by the community for selling the same book twice, instead of posting Downladable Updates.

Much better to bring out a "New" Codex, even though they'll undoubtedly take stick for it.

  7. LOW is pretty strong with rumors. But Nightfury contradicted earlier saying no new full codexes. Fingers crossed for Saim Hann codex with the jetbike release.

    1. yep, and now all of LoWG's posts from today are gone ...

    2. I'd believe Nightfury before LoWG. Mostly because NF has a Ridiculous track record and has a good source for information.

    3. Nightfury is better than LOW

    4. nightfury said no new full dex's: i wonder about Admech. i mean once their actual "book" drops we'll know for certain. however if it turns out that admech get full dex treatment.....that'd mean we will get new full dex's, also NF has mentioned no new dex's since latter part midway last year.
(i'm going to assume that we not only will see new dex's, but we already have)
note: assuming the skitarii dex is not the only dex for admech.

    5. It's possible that he just hasn't seen them, which is VERY possible in regards to his source.

  8. I see another craftworld happening. That makes sense to release all the jetbikes with Saim Hann, especially if it's not a "full codex" and more of a supplement. After seeing a Khorne Daemonkin, I see how that couldn't have been a supplement using 3 other books. Even GW has limits....

  9. All I saw was Codex: Exodite Eldar

  10. My money's on another supplement rather than a codex.

    ReplyDelete
  11. So, Codex: Craftworld Eldar (or some variation of colon placement)?
I believe it, but I think people need to be sure not to skip over the craftworld part. There was a Codex: Craftworld Eldar before, after all.

Probably like chapter tactics for eldar and fancy detachments and stuff.

    1. Codex Eldar
      Craftworlds

Sort of how Harlequins was spelled out.

I could see detachments, formations, and dataslates, as well as perhaps a few plastic kits to update some of the Aspect Warriors.

  12. No page for the jetbikes on GW website unless I'm doing it wrong. I buy this

  13. Total bullshit.. no new codexs.. supplements sure but cor 'dex's are "done" for the forseeable future. i seriously laughed my beer out when i read this.. if it somehow in a tzeenchian webtastically weaved way turns true ill eat my words but i wouldn't put any bets on it. my girl knows what's up and shed tell me if i had wasted my $ 6months ago on the SM dex i bought

    6. What's it matter? Nightfury is pretty solid with his stuff.
I don't care if his "missus" is his girl, his man, his mom, his alcoholic father, the dog that bit him when he was 6, the mailman who is possibly his real dad, whatever his rumors are very reliable.

      Delete
    7. ^ i'm just saying be careful. leak too much and it's off the books and his "missus" gets caught then it's no fun for anyone. NF has a penchant for releasing a bit too much *if you get what i am saying*.

personally i don't care if it is his pet goldfish informing him. but i do care about information's like the rest of us do (hence why we frequent this site)

  15. Its unfortunate if it happens. The current space marine codex is the only codex I would qualify as perfect. I would prefer for it to persist for a coyple more years.

    1. Bike spam and Centstar. That's all it's good for, and I'd like to see Centurions toned down, personally. There's a lot of balance issues they could fix with the Space Marine codex.

  16. Oh look: a hardback codex with a shelf life of 1.9 years, just like the shelf life of 6th edition. I highly doubt this rumor is true, especially if SM get a new codex before DA or CSM

But if it is true and actually does happen, I wonder how much % of Space Marine players who already have the current dex are going to buy the new one, especially if it isnt going to be something groundbreakingly amazing (can't really think of where the current SM codex could improve on, except making Scout Bikers worth taking, introducing jump pack command squads and toning down grav centurions)

    1. Thank you, someone else who thinks grav centurions need to be taken down a notch.

      +1

    2. Grav cents are only tuned up when you pair em with tiggy or some other shennanigans.. on their own they are a fairly cost balanced unit.. if they were av'd like a dread id say different but no major standalone issues i would call broken

    1. Nids received new models, and a ton of formations. As much as I'd like to see they're poorly balanced codex revamped for 7th edition, it won't happen anytime soon, I'm assuming.
