New Edition? Or New Chosen?: Dark Vengeance Being Removed From Shelves Next Week

Next week, rumors have it that all the Dark Vengeance Starter sets are being sent back to GW. Could this be a sign of a new ruleset and starter set? Or even a sign that the rumors of new Chosen and Havoc is right around the corner?

Please remember that this is a rumor.

all the starter sets (as in dark vengeance) boxes are being sent back next week. Not sure if this is just dutch language ones at my local or all... but something is happening...It also appears its happening to all the german ones too. Is this the end of dark vengeance or just the end of foreign translated ones?

    3. last weekend I was just at my local GW and he was unpacking some new DV boxes that had just arrived so I find this rumor unlikely

  2. They could just be changing the rulebook to the updated version, if there is one coming, then sending all the products back to the stores.

Don't forget that in the past, we have seen GW selling the starter sets as late as a month before the new release (with a price offer on the new rulebook, to replace the old one)

  3. Time will tell but I'd advise fellow Chaos players to not get our hopes up, that way if it really is new Chosen or similar we'll be ecstatic and if it's not we can just say "Didn't think so".

  6. Likely we are getting a reprint of the rules, and possibly a restructure of sprue. A new edition of 40k would have been on the radar if this was a move to 7th ed

  8. I would be very happy if orks got released after a new edition rather than right before the edition switches this time.

    1. It won't be enough of a rules overhaul to matter. Mostly FAQ'd tweaks, some tidying, and condensing of the excessively printed and digital material.

  9. Still seems way too soon for a new edition, especially with Escalation & Stronghold Assault only 6 months old...

    DOES NOT COMPUTE

  12. LOL! I haven't even finished painting mine yet. Oh god, I almost pee'd my pants. It was a really nice set though. I would like to see more like it from them. Hell, I wouldn't mind seeing small skirmish type sets of various forces released 2-3 times a year based on different wars or armies/themes.

    1. The people who got told in the comments section that there are apparently 5 TS heads included.

    2. I am! I really like the armor design and would like to make full marine squads using them. The ability to make new poses and character types out of them would be great. Space marines with spikes just don't do it for me.

    3. The problem is that even though they may look awesome CSM are terrible in games. I love them but there's no reason not to take cultists, or even plague or noise marines.

    4. I love the new armour design too, I would kitbash them with Forsaken parts into Possessed (I have done for a few DV Chosen) while others could be actual Chosen with more special weapons.

    5. Most people don't care that much about points efficiency and just want to use the units they like.

    6. I use aesthetically pleasing models as 'counts as' (Sanguinary Guard, anyone?)

  15. GW have not taken the starter sets down before just because of a new sculpted box. DV wasn't taken away when they released new Death Wing, there's no need whether or not new chosen are coming.

  16. Be curious to see if we will just get a reboxing with a new starter set and potentially a rules reprint.

  17. So when they send Boxes back. Does that mean we pay for forth and back sending via the model price?

Why dont they just give out the DV Boxes to people that buy from the store?
Better than sending it around -.-

    1. More likely they'll be collected from the store by the vans doing that week's delivery and returned to the warehouse on the run back that would normally be done for incorrectly selected overstocks, damaged stock or customer returns. Actual extra cost, if any, would be negligible and not worth carrying over to the customer.

I work in retail, this is pretty common procedure.

  18. Why would the release a supplement for the crimson slaughter, then pull the only models they have? Sorry, but I have a good feeling that starter set is staying around for a bit longer.

    1. Er...because hundreds of thousands of those sets already sold, so most people had the models before the Supplement even landed.

    2. So you're saying GW produced a book for models that people already own? Even though a book already existed for them (CSM)? Doesn't sound like GW to me. GW is a model company. They produce rules to sell models.
