Images of the New Website Found

New website rumors have been rampant here for the past 6 months, and this morning someone found images of the new site on imageshack. Of course they are in German, so I cant make out too much of it, but they are here.

Please remember that these still could be fan-made, so consider them rumors until something official is seen. I have heard that the final testing is taking place, and these are most likely them. Just consider them rumors for now.

here is a little bit of information from a new source separate from the images.

I think it will be launched on April Q2
You can mix the races by ticking the boxes next to their category/race name

We will of course be on the look out here for more information across the internet as it appears on the new site.

  1. I don't see a FW header anywhere....

    1. Maybe it's because the rumor of them merging is false?

    2. Either that or the products will be mixed within their respective games... though I guess 30k counts as it's own game, eh? hmm.

    3. Never going to happen, FW nearly got closed a couple of years because GWHQ felt that people would spend the same money on their plastic products which have greater profit margins than FW. So think of it as more of reluctant service they let us have than something that will get folded in and pushed.
And no I won't reveal my source but its a former FW employee.
But the fact that they have concentrated almost exclusively on 30k since then would back up his story.

    4. I've spent more on FW stuff for 40K in the last 2 years than I have on Citadel minis... It would be a crying shame if GWHQ shut FW down; however, given the apparent success of The Horus Heresy/30K, hopefully we're past that point...

    5. I really hope so too,. I think that they must've realised that there are different sorts of buyers and that we won't necessarily buy GW. I like some of their stuff like the vehicles but theres no way I'm going to use the new Sternguard over the old finecast or a FW kitbash. I'm sure lots of people like them but they're not sharp enough for my tastes and to DA looking.

  2. Well in either way, better knuckle up folks. April is only a few weeks away X3

  3. Looks like it'll be a lot friendlier for the typical scrolling mobile device, with nice clear areas to click on, though some of the lists on the left side look a bit clunky for that purpose, but maybe they'll be different in the mobile version.

Looks slick, but really... obnoxiously bright. It really looks like a shopping website, but that's not really.. a good thing to me.

    1. Obnoxiously bright? As in it has a white background?

    2. I pretty much agree DrBored, I'm just not sold on the design choice, its really not that divergent from the current site either, hardly worth multi-year development, makes me wonder what we're not seeing. Maybe the rest of the site features the more advanced features?

    3. I just hope for an improvement in their drop-down menus. The selection options are too small with that tiny font they use, difficult to hit what you're after on the first click, and even harder on the iPad. Fixing that would help a lot, IMHO...

    1. As in a buy our products or we go out business? What a terrible business move that is. No wonder they are the number miniatures company in the world, they keep trying to make it easier for you buy their products through their site. How dare they!?!

    2. I think what Fore Shame is trying to say is that the Games Workshop advertising team is pushing too hard. If a car dealer is pitching a car and says if I don't buy the sports car then people won't take me seriously, I probably won't take him seriously. If someone is begging me to buy as opposed to showing their wares and letting me make the decision on what to look at, then I'll be less likely to return.

Now, I don't think Games Workshop has done a whole lot of this overpitching stuff, but I understand the sentiment that Fore Shame is going for, and got a kick out of Stoeks stoic reactionary reaction.

Be skeptical is the #1 thing a consumer should be.

    3. I think what Stoeks88 is trying to say is that buyers of Citadel products need an easier way to complete their transaction on the Games Workshop website.

Because we all know how difficult that is.

You know, to buy things on the internet.

      Christ.

  5. I prefer the current version of the site to what we see here.

    1. You mean the site where you literally have to click four to five links to get to an image of the specific model you are looking for, super efficient.

    2. Its better than the previous one back some 10 years ago.

    3. Not particularly reaching for the stars here are we :)

  6. Looks terrible. It's like a blog site that's been terribly converted to a tacky looking shopping site. The design must have only taken a few hours. Also look how much white space there is! I really hope its a fake, I was hoping the shop would only be a small part of the site, not the entire thing!

    1. Wait and see really. As long as it is mobile friendly is all that matters to me.

  7. decent site designs ... if true you can see that the black library site has already taken steps towards this vision.

  8. It's not French, it's German...

    1. Noelshack is a french-language site and when google asks you to translate it it does so from french to english. The text in the images is german and so i can see how you thought that.

Have a closer look and translate the page: you'll find the image text doesn't translate from german to english but the actual site text (you'll have to look at the very very bottom of the page) translates from french to english - google even tells you that french is the language it picks up in case you're confused.

      Delete
    2. So, to clarify, the text on the site is in french (and if you want to use google to translate it only this text will be translated) but these particular images are in german.

They must be screenshots/dumps of german which have been posted up on a french-speaking site (either french or canadian).

      Delete
  9. As a German: There is not much to translate.

On the left you have typical sort options:
    After slot: heavy, elite....
    after typ:bike, tank ...

Under each picture is a brief lore discription of the unit.

If you want something translated, feel free to ask

    1. Michael, was the Imperial Guard always called Imperiale Armee in German? No sign of the rumoured Astra Militarum name change then.

      Delete
    2. Jupp, always was Imperiale Armee.

As for FW. It says: Der Tyrann von Badab on the bottom right of one SS. Meaning the Tyrant of Badab and Badab campaign is FW only so far, isnt it?

      Delete
    3. @Cpt. Wynn , Yes always Imperiale Armee

@Florian Schweitzer Tyrann von Badab = Tyrant von Badab . Is it FW only ? No clue

      Delete
    4. Tyrant of Badab is both Lufgt Huron and Huron Blackheart, one is FW, one is 40k, so could be either

  10. Images certainly allude to a more mobile friendly site, which is good.

On a side note, can we please stop all of the "every move that GW makes is some evil money grab" mentality. The old website is not great, and now that they want everything "in house", it will be nice to have everything streamlined and more fluid. The site is quite bad as it stands. Breathing new life into it is not a money grab, it is a vital move to update to current trends and possibilities. Does the paranoid, anti-GW vitriolic comments seen everywhere by the same 15 people not get exhausting? Or are energy drink and Doritos fueled nerd tirades actually healthy actions? I doubt it, as early onset diabetes and hypertension are major contributors to early deaths and heart disease, primarily in the States.

    Keep calm and game on!

    1. What that man said!

What continues to astonish me in the 'evil GW conspiracy' crowd is their seeming inability to move on to a different hobby - perhaps to wit one they don't clearly find really upsetting!

    2. Games Workshop is a corporation. Everything they do is a money grab. Everything. If it weren't, they wouldn't exist. GW is not a charity deserving praise. It is a money grubbing corporation out for a profit.

      Delete
    3. Of course they're out for profit! If every corporation were a zen share-everything equally commune, there would be no money, and therefore no incentive, for R&D and advancement in, well, just about every aspect of every business.

Remember the USSR? Communism doesn't work, Comrade Drend; even the Chinese have figured that one out. LOL. If you weren't so hilariously over-the-top in your anti-GW tirades, it wouldn't be nearly as much fun reading your comments. Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk...

      Same here.
But at least one of those pics is showing off quite a few sisters.

I like the the new design, btw.

  12. As much as I would like for this to be real, there is something on page 3 that gives me pause. Most of us have heard that the Imperial Guard is now called the Astra Militarium, so why are they still called Imperial Guard on this "new" website? Would they not use the newer name of Astra Militarium?

BTW you can use google chrome to translate to English

    1. These are probably concept images made by the website design team, rather than screenshots of the actual, live website. The company I work for is going through exactly the same thing.

      Delete
    2. +1 to what Cheexsta said.

To reinforce, there are probably only a limited number of people who have access to the new website since its being worked on still currently. Leaking screenshots of their work in progress would be very easy to track. So I doubt the website design team would do it

Concept images like these would be more widely disseminated and therefore a much safer leak.

  13. The site may launch before the astral renaming and its probably in the works for quite some time now, so they have been using existing assets to build it.

Looks like the real deal to me.

  14. The site is under test at the moment, they wouldn't let me see it, but NO Forgeworld stuff, and yes a major slimdown. Or so they say! Mmm salty

  15. No Impressum.
    No Copyright or legal notic
    Website have to have those!

    Also a REFUND Button????
On the Main Site in big and not in small print hidden? So Not like GW.

    Fake rumor imo
