Imperial Knight Lancer Rumors

Forgeworld has been rumored to expand upon the Imperial Knights in some way, and today we have the first rumors that they will be doing just that. An Imperial Knight Lancer is said to be on the way from Forgeworld later this year.

Please remember that this is a rumor, and salt is required.

  1. That's good and all, but I don't understand why GW can't make it themselves, instead of having forgeworld do it...

Hey, you like this stuff? Well check out all the stuff these guys make too!

    2. I get that, but I think a second knight kit would sell better if it were made by GW. I've already got three knights, and I know I'd buy two Lancers if they were at the riptide price point for a smaller size

    3. I was thinking the same thing. Plastic would make so much more sence.

Then i read that this "rumor" comes from Larry.
      Its 100% made up!

  2. Codex Imperial Knight Lancer incoming!
Soon I will need a bigger case for codexes rather than for the actual army...

    1. Really? All my books fit in my pocket and are available almost anywhere, any time. Even if I forget my phone.

    2. Drew, please turn on your sarcasm detector. However, I don't go to tournaments with my tablet, since it is very likely to have it stolen.

    3. I would have made more knights if i was making the codex. The errant/paladin isn't two different knights imo, more like the same unit with different loadouts (replace cannon with flamer thing for 50 pts, etc.) much like a dreadnought with storm bolter on his power fist but can be changed to a flamer for 5 pts or something.

I would've made smaller units occupying FA slots (enter Lancer) with a weaker hull but faster movement with Hit and Run, etc. The standard troops being errant/paladin. Then maybe have a bulkier one for the HS slots; not necessarily taller but more bulkier with thicker armour plates giving it a better save able to accommodate heavier weapons (if there is such a thing) but would be more vulnerable to flanking attacks and melee units etc.

In short, i would have made a full codex with more than one unit (the errant/paladin is the same unit imo). Now GW can't release any more knight models until 7th ed rolls around, unless they release a dataslate with a model - which would send the community in to an uproar: "why wasn't this in the original codex? why do i have to pay MORE money for something that should already be part of my army?" you get the picture.

I'm excited to have more knights, just not impressed there's news of them so soon after the codex was released. When you launch a new army/faction i'd imagine you would wait until you had decent amount of models for them to be released together...

    4. The good thing is that FW with initially (at least) PDF the rules for free before they get bundled into an Imperial Armour volume :D

    5. Agree 100% Rixus. Codex of what amounts to one unit with two weapon options when you know other knights are planned just doesn't sit right with me.

    6. Agreed. They really should've made Knights a full-fledged army list. The Knight types already exist in the background, and could've easily fit into all the Battlefield Roles.

      HQ: Baron
      TROOPS: Knight Paladin
      TROOPS: Knight Errant
      ELITE: Knight Warden
      FAST ATTACK: Knight Lancer
      HEAVY SUPPORT: Knight Crusader

They should've also included wargear options, principally vehicle upgrades. They should've also been a lot cheaper with Knight Apparent stats, and had an option to upgrade them to basic Knight stats and a second upgrade to boost them to Seneschal stats instead of that ridiculous random table.

They really screwed the pooch with "Codex: Imperial Knights." They could've done so much better than writing a 64-page book around a single model with only two options for its right arm. The kit itself is also a bit of a rip-off. For the same price you can get a Baneblade kit which can create all eight Baneblade variants. Would it have killed them to include an extra two or three sprues in order to make all six Knight variants?

  3. Very interesting if true, might open up to other mark's of knights and maybe, just maybe, the chaos knights. (If only to stop the moaning from chaos player ;P)

    1. Anyone who's read the imperial knights codex will bet a [small] sum of money that chaos knights will be brought into the fold. Don't know when but we'll definitely see them - specifically House Devine's fall into decadence and becoming thralls of Slaanesh.

There are others but that's the one that springs to mind. (",)

    3. @Rixus Actually I read the codex, and the fact that it explicitly states that CHAOS Knights are Ultra-Rare, would lend me to believe you'll never see them.

  4. Not that I'm a chaos player, but chaos knight models would be incredibly awesome.

  5. Ho yeah!
I hope it will be released. (I also Hope it would be easy convertable from a GW Plastic Kit to the Lancer, I still prefer Plastik to Resine)

  6. Seriously doubt this one. No word has come out of usual FW sources. Add in the fact that GW has an established plastic kit, likely it will be an add on to the normal frame like previous FW/GW hybrid kits. I suspect that we will see a crap ton (14 tons) wish list rumors like this in the near future...or right now.

We are likely 3 months away from the first dataslates for the other versions of the Knights. That's all I have to say right now, gotta go to the doctor and get some meds for this much sodium.

  7. "Fills a FAST ATTACK slot in an Imperial Knight Detachment"

And this right here is all the doubt you ever need for this rumor. Imperial Knights don't have Fast Attack slots to begin with, so... X3

    1. They actuary do mate, read your codex again.

    2. They don't use the normal FOC, just 3-6 Knights for Primary Detachment or 1-3 Knights as a Imperial Knight Detachment. No HQ, Troops, etc...

      Delete
    3. No they don't, Crusader_Weber. You should try reading the codex, since apparently you haven't. Neither Knight Paladins nor Knights Errant have a Battlefield Role. There aren't any HQ, Troops, Elite, Fast Attack, or Heavy Support choices in the book.

      Delete
    4. @Crusader_Weber - The Codex and GW Design Team does not support your claim.

Please try to troll someone else.

  8. If true, it'll be just another target for my Warhound's 2x Turbo Laser Destructors :D.

Well, I'd have to buy the Warhound first... What the hell? I've got 2 kidneys!

  9. If the Knights get more slots ie fast attack then they had better be cool enough to compensate for not being scoring in a primary IK detachment.

Of course the other question is ... What makes something "fast" when the normal version moves 12" ?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Yes, this is an odd rumour, and likely not true.

Historically, in EPIC at least, Lancers were HQ's. It was reasoned that only the piloting expertise of a Senechal was sufficient to weave and dodge through enemy fire to keep the Lancer's faster, but substantially more lightly armoured frame intact long enough to reach assault where it excelled.

I would dearly love to see these as well as the bulkier, more armed and armoured Wardens, but I think since there have not been even any teaser shots from Forge World they are quite a ways off.

    ReplyDelete
  11. More options than just the two knight variants would be cool, but IF this is true (even if its just an upgrade kit) I ask myself why they did not wait and include those in the codex too instead of having just two pages of units in it.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Agreed, more variants are desperately needed!

I'd actually prefer to see some variants with WEAKER weaponry - maybe like Twin-Linked Autocannons or Quad Multi-Lasers or something, anything, just CHEAPER!

It would be nice to be able to field a Primary army of Knights at 1850 without being locked into fielding just 5 x Knights Errant!

  12. I doubt it. Two things targeting that as BS::

    1) FA slot? In dett? In dett there is 1-3 (add) or 3-6 (main) knights not normal FOC

    2) Lance on knights was close combat weapon not cannon (in opposition to eldars Lance)

  13. In codex and novella Lancer is only for House head, not for even elite of house.
In novella it's equiped with thermal lance and battle canon with relic blade under it.

    1. Honestly, looking at GWs prices and FWs ones, it's not too bad... If you compare a repressor with a hunter you see what i mean

      Delete
    2. Forge World really isn't that expensive for "normal" sized stuff. Sure, Titans and Thunderhawks aren't cheap, but they're also ~huge~. Look around the FW site and you'll find a lot of interesting stuff that you can use for conversions, or strait out of the bag as-is... Just because it's from faze doesn't mean it's "absurdly expensive"...
