The Green Tide on the Horizon

There are a lot of rumors flying about the internet right now, and the very latest is that Orks are coming sooner than expected. One of the sources here on this site said August, but those were not very reliable rumors. So I am going to go with June as the guys over at 40k radio are saying.

Please remember that these are rumors.

Orks are due in June and not September.

  2. I was just thinking that Ork Armies probably prosper when Orks are a part of the Boxed Set. Now that the boxed set is Chaos and Dark Angels, many people who want to start Orks are intimidated at the value. This is why Imperial Guard/Orks should be the starter set.

    1. Space marines will always be in the starter

    2. Megatron0 is quite right. Marines (apparently) account for over 50% of GW's sales. Thats not just 40k either, thats across the board. One Army, over half of all sales. They'd be crazy to take them out of the box entirely.

Plus I gather they also like to have them in there because new customers find them easy to relate to, as they are more or less Knights in Space.

    3. Not ot mention, being probably what everyone thinks of when you say Warhammer, 40k, or space marine.

They are THE brand, plain and simple.

    4. He is right, I bought the starter box for the space marines. (im new to the game 2 years) and I ended up making a 2500 point Ork army. Go figure.

    5. They kind of did take out the marines. Dark vengeance has dark angels. While they are nice models they are covered in their iconography. The best thing about the old sets it's they were generic. Paint them blue and they're ultramarines. Red and they're blood angels. Green and theyre dark angels. Now I have to scrape off the angels stuff to use the current models as ultramarines.

    6. Space marines are 50% of the sales because they're 50% of the army books. 40k should be renamed to "Power Armor Party and those other guys."

    7. This! I regret taking a haitus during 5th Edition because i missed out on the boxset. And orks are the only army that can satisfy my need to make Luchadores.

    8. Luchadore orkz. And here I though luchadore reaver Titan was funny (paint face mask mark like mask, two grabby hands).

    9. Still 100% Marines though.

Works quite well for me as I've collected Dark Angels since Space Hulk's Deathwing expansion :]

  3. If done correctly, Codex: Orks should be a big game changer for 6th edition. Orks deserve to be a serious threat to the imperium.

    4. Chaos are in fluff but on the table top its a different story.

    5. In the fluff I would argue that Chaos and Tyranids are ridiculously broken, as in there is no way for the Imperium to survive both of them (or for anything to survive the Tyranids). Many "die-hard (starting a year ago)" Tau fans don't realize that Tau really are only a small race with no warp travel on the fringes of space.
Anyways, I really hope they do something with orks to make them represent the fluff. As it stands an ork army can get pretty much negated by one thunderfire cannon.

  7. My son will be thrilled. His 6,000 points of orks don't need the new starter set though.
