Lots of Dwarven Models MIA

There are quite a few Dwarven models that are no longer on the GW site. Dwarves are rumored to be next for the month of February, so something along the lines of models being removed from the GW site is right on par with a release. Of course as always, a release doesnt always follow the disappearance of models.

So what is missing? I am not an expert on what units the Dwarves have in their army book, but here is what I have been told are missing.

Hmmerers, Longbeards and Ironbreakers missing again.
The only metal models remaining are Flame Cannon, Hammerer Command and the Slayer sets.Finecast has Bolt and Stone Throwers, plus the Gyrocopter.
The only army more "dead" than Dwarfs on the UK site are Bretons

  1. I think under GW’s nomenclature it’s actually “Dwarfen” since they’re “dwarfs” and not “dwarves” (weird spelling even for the british). :P

Now we just have to wait and see if Dwarfs are going the way of the Squats or if they just get a new rulebook and models.

    2. I may be an American but I have an English degree….so…y’know…*shrugs*

    3. An American English degree doesn't mean you can speak or spell it properly.....;-p. OK, OK I jest, I'm not looking to start another war that we'll lose....;).

Although I do wonder why your founding fathers didn't think.. "
Do you know what, since we starting afresh here, shall we just invent a new language? Because if I hear "speak the Queen's/King's English man" one more time, I swear I'm going to raise a fleet, cross the Atlantic and invade lime-eating-douchebag-land

    4. According to Tolkein, only his Dwarves were Dwarves; all other kinds of Dwarfs were meant to be Dwarfs.
...Now Dwarf doesn't look like a real word to me.

    5. My understanding is that Tolkien, producing a work containing invented languages, was plagued by his editors who made "corrections" to his work before publication. Namely altering "dwarves" to "dwarfs", "elvish" to "elfish", "further" to "farther", etc, Worst of all to Tolkien was "elven" to "elfin".

So the correct english is "dwarfs" and it is only Tolkien's "dwarves" that are spelled as such (type both in your spell-checker and see what happens).

As an aside, i agree with how funny/irritating it is when americans accuse british people of not speaking correct english, when it was us that invented the language. More accurately the english instead of british, as Welsh, Scottish, and i believe Irish as well, all have or had their own language either before or after being subjugated by the english.

What the americans speak/write is a bastardised form of english (as do Scottish people for example) using the same/similar vocabulary with altered spelling and/or usage. In Europe the english that is taught to foreigners is "english", whereas in Japan and the rest of asia they are taught "american-english" when learning it as an extra language for business and commerce - as it's most probably americans they'll be dealing with.

So because there are more americans than english does not mean their language is the correct english. Americans speak excellent "american" but not very good "english", just as we Scots don't speak good "english" or "american" - most of us speak pretty good "scots" though. (",)

  3. The picture on the UK GW site of the new white dwarf is cut off just above the picture on the cover but a tiny bit of the model is peaking up and seems to have a Rune - could be wrong though?

    1. Looks like it could be the top of a standard, or the top of the back of a throne.

  4. The picture on the White Dwarf made me think of Lizardmen, but of course it's not enough to actually tell what it is.

    1. even so, cover will refer to a week of time instead of a month

  5. Kinds stupid to get rid of dwarfs when they kept the name of the weekly magazine white dwarf seems like a good chance to change it if they got rid of them

  6. GW really has a way of making releases seem more frustrating than exciting.
Why can't they just lay out yearly plans so people can set themselves up accordingly? Right now, it just looks like Bretons and Dwarves are sold old/unavailable, which isn't enticing to new players that don't yet realize they have to follow rumor blogs to even get the slightest idea of what GW is playing at.
On top of the fact I think it bites them in the ass because people don't save up for new waves/releases unless they seek it out as well.
I knew a guy who didn't even know until I mentioned it a few weeks ago that 'Nids were changing or expanding in models at all, because he plays 40k, but doesn't follow the drips of info they don't even officially offer, and old WD was useless outside of 'THERE OUT NOW! RIGHT NOW! BUY BUY BUY!'
....just feeling irritated today, I guess, haha.

    1. My thought was they don't announce a plan because people (like me) would say "oh, this models getting redone/updated, i'll wait 'x' months and just buy it when its out, instead of buying this one or kit-bashing another". They wouldn't get certain existing models sold if updated/new ones were in the pipeline.

But i'm also of the opinion that GW are behind a lot of these rumours that circulate as part of their marketing ploys. So i can't make up my mind as the two seem to conflict: why leak upcoming releases but not officially announce them? Me wonders...

  7. The poor Dwarfs sorely need an update. I've was about to make a move and start an army last year when I discovered that you can no longer buy the army box off Games-Workshop.com...??? Come on GW, what's happening? Fingers crossed they're next.

  8. I'm a bit late to this party but there is really only 1, 5 unit missing, ironbreakers are totally gone and the hammerers still have their command.

The longbeards are supposedly made from the basic warrior kit (according to GW) and the old metal models where just a collectors sort of thing.

I'm a bit surprised by the lack of meaty dwarf rumors, their model line is in nowhere near as bad a shape as the brettonian model line which is missing at least half its units instead of 1 and a bit.
