The new Forgeworld blog is showing up a cool pic of a new space marine model that is heading towards production, that in my mind looks like a Salamander Marine. I think its more interesting that they are doing Salamanders, rather than seeing the actual model right now.

If you have not yet seen the new Forgeworld Blog or want to check out the pic, its worth checking out. Here is the link to it.

  2. I saw this earlier today also. My money is on it being a Pyroclast Squad. Very excited for these :)

  3. I tell you what - those Cataphracti Termies are absolutely bad-ass.

  4. Definitely Pyroclast. If you read Vulkan Lives they mention the veil of drakescale. God please hurry up with Vulkan. We need FireDrakes too!

    1. Yeh i would really love to see some Firedrakes Terminators, specially in Cataphracti armor, although i have a feeling all we might get for that is some shoulder pads or something :/

    2. I'm pretty sure I remember seeing some Fire Drakes at the HH Weekender last year

    3. So how "corny" would HH models in a modern Salamander army look? Just wondering if any would still be around from that time frame..

    4. I don't think its farfetched to believe that a handful survived through the HH events. not more than that though. But they would still be really cool as characters, etc.

    5. Rule 1: Rule of Cool - if it looks cool, do it.

If nothing else, they may simply use the old patterns of armor as cherished relics, and continue to send them into battle similarly equipped. Makes sense from most Imperial/Astartes background I know of, though I must confess an almost negligible amount of knowledge on the Salamanders.

    6. I doubt any HH characters would be around as Bjorn the fellhanded is the oldest warrior in the adeptus astartes, 13th coy aside. However Im sure they have different armour to other chapters and maybe some relics from 30k.
I say go for it, its your army!

    7. Also, as for the fire drakes, FW said they will be doing atleast one PA and one TDA for each legion. I guess they will be the TDA.

    8. @James Flanagan: Considering how fans of artificer and master crafted gear the salamanders are I think it's rather plausible that they have some 30k era gear still.

  5. *it could also be alpha legion. Both salamanders and Alpha legion have the scaly/lizard/snake theme.

    1. It's Definatly Salamanders. First, is hinted at by Forge World in the comments on their Facebook page and Secondly they are/have been only releasing models for legions already in print from the horus heresy books.
They may have some other legions painted, but not the special units modeled.

    2. Aye, I've never read anything about Alpha Legion having scaled armour. The Salamanders' icon is based on an actual lizard from their homeworld and their armour incorporates the hide of these on occasion. The Alpha's icon is purely metaphorical rather than based on any creature from their homeworld; the hydra's thing is to cut off one of it's many heads and another one or two grows in it's place which echoes their creed of misdirection, outmanouevering, survival & attack.

I'm not sure that we'll see many Alpha models with scales...maybe one or two with some scale-mail hanging from a pauldron or sabaton maybe but probably nowhere near as prominant as the Salamanders.

    3. They paint the scales on their armor though. But yeah that mask looks very much like what we see on the Vulcan model in 40k.

  6. Hurry up and release those myrmidons already! My burgeoning ad mech army demands it!

  7. Could maybe be Black Dragons?

  8. Black Dragons didn't exsist in the HH

  9. Black dragons are 21st founding, though possible, it is likely HH and pyroclasts. We can assume that since HH shoulder pads are done, then salamander units are inbound within 4-6 months. 4-6 months is the time it takes to make master molds + completion of the model + early low stock levels for pre orders.

Side note: they must be using modified rules for kill team, terminators are not permitted due to 2+ armor.

    1. 1) i like the overlapping scale style helmet.
      2) it is possible they might name a unit or chapter black dragons during the HH. I doubt it, but would be foolish to not think it possible to throw a possible hint at the Black Dragons origins...would be neat if they hinted/teased us.

  10. Salamanders would be for the HH part 2, amirite? Having the book already out but no models, it was a given that sooner or later we would see them.

That Salamanders would also work very well in a possible Armageddon supplement/global campaign is an added bonus.

  11. Looks like I'll need a few of those just to mix in with my regular 40k Salamanders. They craft their own armour it fits in anyways ;)

    1. Same. :) they would be nice to work in to normal units for regular 40k somehow too. definitely want to get these.

  12. Awesome

But Terminators in Kill Team? 2+ armor... Oh well, fund it.
