Here is some additional information regarding the new Campaign being worked on by Games Workshop with many different shops in the US. There is definitely a lot of interest in a campaign like this, and its worth checking out for those of you lucky enough to be in an area that has it going.

Damnthevalley sent in the following email with additionl information. Apparently he was the original source of information which was on the Gamershaven forums. I have included his original post there, as well as a link to it.

If you have any questions, by all means, please ask them, and I will see if I can relay them to him via email if they do not get answered here in the comments.

Just a heads up, I wrote that write up for the campaign and it is real.  Here is a link to what I wrote:

http://www.gamershavenco.com/forums/showthread.php?32501-Conquest-of-Kaiserslautern-VI-Campaign-Pack!

Our store, Gamer's Haven in Colorado Springs, Colorado, was contacted by another Gamer's Haven in Washington coincidentally asking if they could use our write up since what GW put out was mostly geared towards using Dark Vengeance and the two armies contained within.  I had to modify the army building portion of the event accordingly to accommodate armies besides those two.  We had no problem with them using it at all, and it was actually very polite of them to ask us before doing so.

As for the event itself, there are three missions that are written basically as missions 7, 8, and 9 of the Dark Vengeance campaign that comes with the 2 player starter box set, The first two missions are very small and only involve 1 squad per player, but utilize them in a non-traditional way.  The third mission uses both of the squads a player used in games 7 and 8, as well as what I decided was a 600 point army.  This was decided by writing up army lists for both the Dark Angels and the Chaos Space Marine armies that are included in the Dark Vengeance kit and averaging out the point costs.

There is also quite a bit of involvement in other areas, such as players earning points for the event by coming up with a painting guide for their army similar to how they are done in the White Dwarfs, and the sheets for it are included in the kit that GW has sent out.  You also can earn points for getting a new player to try the game, painting in store with other people, etc.  This is a LOT more than just playing a game or two, as it actually focuses on 40K as a hobby and as a social event, which I personally love.

GW has told us that there are roughly 20 stores within the US who are doing this test program for GW quarterly events.  This has been put together by only a few people within GW, and isn't an official event yet.  They are collecting input from these stores to see how it boosts sales and growth in the player base before presenting the numbers up higher and attempting to make this a reoccurring quarterly event, which would then include complete campaigns, prize support, and what ever else their creative minds come up with.

The thing to keep in mind is that this isn't an official GW event yet, this is some of the sales and marketing guys finding ways to do more to help both GW stores and independent retailers grow, so if player input and participation is good, it has a much higher chance of becoming an official, regular event.

Conquest of Kaiserslautern VI Campaign Pack!
Our store has been selected to test run a new GW event pack, and we would like to invite all of you to help us! This event will be run on Friday, January 24th, as well as Friday, January 31st. Most of the games are designed to only last 30-45 minutes, so while you might be able to finish in one night, we will be holding it for two nights to accommodate more people who are interested. This will not prevent anyone from playing regular 40K games on Friday nights either, it is just something fun we are working with Games Workshop to put together.

"On the remote imperial planet of Kaiserslautern VI in a distant sector the servants of the Dark Gods open a new chapter in their unending campaign to destroy the Imperium of Man. Having planted the seeds of rebellion among the populace for centuries, Chaos Lord Krannon the Relentless is now ready to reap the bitter harvest. There is still hope, however, for the citizens loyal to the Emperor. Company Master Balthasar and his Dark Angels stand ready to defend Kaiserslautern VI with their very lives, if necessary. The fate of the planet is now in your hands. It is time to choose sides and once again let slip the dogs of war."

You will need a few things to play, mainly a small army that uses a modified Force Organization chart.
- 600 point army that has 1 HQ, 1-2 Troops, 0-1 Elite, 0-1 Fast Attack, 0-1 Heavy Support, and 1 swing slot that can add 1 more slot on any part of the Force Organization chart. Alternatively, you may use either one of the armies from the Dark Vengeance Starter Set. The Dark Angels player may not use the Limited Edition Chaplain however.
- 1-2 additional Basic Troop choices without upgrades, such as Kabalite Warriors, a Space Marine Tactical Squad, Chaos Cultists, etc. These should be in addition to your 600 point list as they will be added to your army later in the event.
- 1 Fast Attack choice without upgrades
- 1 Elite choice without upgrades

All of these unit are important as this is a story driven campaign that starts with a few small games and builds up larger as you get further into the story. The actual missions will be posted in the store, and score sheets for the event will be handed out on the nights of the event. This is designed as a fun and friendly event, so feel free to come out and have a great time with us. There will be small participation prizes for everyone who shows up such as lanyards and patches, so come out and get some free loot as well!
