Are these an auto-include for your armies? Lets find out by taking a look at the latest preview for their rules.

Every unit gets one champion no matter their size (one unit can include up to 15 Blood Knights), and you can take more than one Standard Bearer as a bit of insurance. If nothing else, all those pennants streaming behind them will look very intimidating.

Their heavy Nightmare steeds baulk at nothing, trampling over all but the largest of enemies when bidden. Have an opponent that likes to hide the juicy targets behind cheap screening units? They might as well not bother.

Riders of Ruin makes Blood Knights ideal harassment units, striking at ‘safe’ targets and disrupting your opponent’s plans. They hit extra hard every time they charge, allowing you to chew your way through the foe’s battle formation with a devastating strike in each successive turn.

If the enemy general decides to divert resources to take out your Blood Knights, they’ll need to commit considerable effort to do so. Like all vampires, they can heal themselves every turn – as long as they’re making kills, that is.

These versatile heavy cavalry units deserve a place at the forefront of every Soulblight Gravelords army. If mounted soldiers are very much your thing, consider taking an all-cavalry army – enter the Kastelai.

Blood Knights of the Kastelai Dynasty
The most warlike of all the bloodlines, the Kastelai garrison the Crimson Keep, a mighty fortress that disappears and reforms at the dawn of each new day. This unpredictability means your force can strike from any angle, even behind enemy lines.

Because of their need for mobility, combined with their knightly bearing, Kastelai armies are often entirely mounted. Since they can take Blood Knights as Battleline units, there’s no excuse not to load up on them.

If your opponent decides to leave your Blood Knights to their own devices, they’ll soon come to regret it as their vampiric power swells.

While the Kastelai certainly make the most of them, any of the five vampire dynasties can put the Blood Knights to good use. They’re definitely an auto-include in any Soulblight Gravelords army for their power and utility – the fact that they happen to look amazing is just an added bonus.
