Pre-Orders are Now Up

The Assassinorum board/tile game is now available for pre-orders. The first images of it also make it look like a very beautiful game with some nice looking models (overall I think the Celuxus model got the best overhaul). Here is what is now available for pre-orders.

  1. "Currently" the only way to get these minis. Sounds to me like they'll be coming out at a later date.

    2. apparently they are slated for release later in the year, probably in the autumn or run up to christmas, as i guess june to august will be whfb

    3. It's an effective technique, that's for sure. I think it's apparent they'll be re-released later, but I asked my local HobbyTown to hold one of the three boxes they were allocated just in case.

    4. Still a great value box (if you play Chaos).
Most clam packs is about $30, so the assassins alone is $120, and the chaos models cost you $65.
Basically you get some Chaos for free :)

  3. i dont generally mind things being stylized or a little wacky, but the culexus' face just looks FAR too cartoony

    1. Makes me think of Harlequins

    2. Yes, Harlequins were a let down. The masks are hideous.

    3. They where more or less exactly the same as before!

    1. He said right before it sold out.

It's a complete, self-contained board game. Not just four models for 40k.

    2. Same price as Space Hulk with fewer models

      Delete
    3. by that logic space hulk is also terrible as it had fewer models than stormclaw or deathstorm did.

assuming £16 per assassin (i'd call that a conservative estimat with today's clampack prices) when they are released, this set contains £103 worth of models before you count any of the board game parts themselves.

    5. As Aria said, the assassins separately will cost nearly as much, may as well get the Chaos models and the board game.

Is even better if you also have a chaos force (not an amazing number of chaos models, but a nice supplement to existing forces)

    6. I already have 2 of the 4 assassin models, and I like my vindicare looking down the scope better.

The only way this box set is worth it is if the game is actually fun like spacehulk and there is no way to tell that from this preview.

    7. Let's be honest, yesterday 4 assassins models was like 60 each, it isn't a good deal to pay 125 for them today, the only justification is the game, which you couldn't try before it came out because it sold out immediately.

I'm fully prepared to pick up the game on its own on eBay when people have actually reviewed it, but I wouldn't pay the old retail price for any of the new assassin models, let alone $30

      Delete
    8. 60 total was of course what I meant.

    9. Just to point out, I checked out how much the current models from this would cost: £75.70
so for this is 70p less than buying all the models separately(and those are the metal/finecast assassins)

      (At least in the UK)

    10. i have two assassins, metal, and those cost me all of 10USD.
      GW is off its rocker.

  5. As cool as the models are, that is a lot of money to drop on a game that's only description of game play is "it's great! trust us!"

    1. Apparently the game is Co-op against card/random chaos...

    2. There's 4 pages in this week's WD describing it and a further 5 page walkthrough of a game. Plus the datasheets for the individual assassins and their formation. That's a reasonable amount of info.

    3. Just more of GW flexing the inelastic demand of anything in the universe that has their logo on it.

  6. The Australia tax on this one is absurd. $210 AUD.

    4. Yes they do.
You dont Pay "normal" exchange rates. If we did, we would Pay 30% less in central europ & ireland.

  7. The poses are what kill these new assassin models for me. I don't like that the Vindicare isn't sighting his Exitus Rifle for a kill, the Eversor is impossible to rebase without sticking him to a piece of scenery, and the Callidus' hair looks like Rapunzel.

The old ones look much better. Nice to have a break until the Cult Mechanicus is unleashed!

    1. Yeah, I'm not pleased with any of their poses. The Callidus's hair is ridiculous, and it's aggravating that he's placed on a pillar which makes her so tall. The Eversor likewise looks dumb on his attached terrain piece, and I really wish he was running flat on his base instead with his head straight. And the Vindicare should actually look like he's taking a short with his rifle. Disappointing, all around. Thankfully I still have the pewter models.

    2. The old vindi lookin down scope is better, the new callidus even removed from the scenic base is still bad. However the new Eversor is awesome. He is much better then the old lump on log Eversor. If u don't like the scenic base which is great use the cities of death lamppost or a tree or rock all of which he will look great on. He is completely awesome and dynamic for an infiltrating unit that is made to deploy inside your opponents side of the board and not hiding in your backfield.

    3. Real question is, is the new eversor better than this one?: http://dogstargames.com/files/1329089/uploaded/GK%20Eversor%20Power%20Sword.jpg

      Delete
    4. I like the original Eversor best, the one not holding a severed head.

      Delete
    5. Eversor is definitely awesome. We complain when GW gives us static models and then complain when they're dynamically awesome. So stupid. The colexus looks good. Vindicare is a wash. Callidus just looks goofy.

      Delete
  8. If I were to get that, I wouldn't put the Eversor or the Callidus on those bases. Not a fan of over the top scenic bases.

  9. Notice that "Time is running out" on the GW homepage assassin splash has a red fuse along the top. This is lower in some regions than others eg. UK is at about 50%, USA ~75% and NZ also ~75% currently.
    Presumably an indicator of stock?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Difficult to know. There are only 2 different lengths: some countries have the line ending over the 'g' in 'game', and some roughly over the red die next to the culexus. Unlikely that demand across the world would yield only 2 stock levels - there would be a much wider spread of values, surely. Unless GW have made 2 global stock allocations: 1 for US and Aus/NZ; 1 for Europe and the UK.

Unless anyone has logged then lines changing its more likely just an accidental thing.

    2. Doesnt even matter.
If 10 guys hop in & buy 10 each they can be sold out in a snap.

  11. Well... It's still available. I actually find this quite funny. There is a guy on eBay already selling the Assassins for £20 each STARTING BID!!! Looks like this could be the Dreadfleet of 40k. I laugh at the scalpers because if nobody wants to pay the actual price for it then nobody is going to pay their ridiculous prices!

I'm not paying anymore than £12 each for the assassins on eBay, even if that means I have to wait for a seperate release to get my 20% discount fro Element Games.

  12. Anybody else think the Culexus is a dud? I mean looking at his rules, he's only awesome if your opponent has a seer council on the table. And even then, the Culexus doesnt have infiltrate or deep strike (correct me if I am wrong) so how exactly will he get into position to make the most out of his profile?

    1. He'd be good against a Mono Tzeentch list too.

It's specific roll is Psyker hunter so it's not supposed to be a good all rounder.

    2. Maybe vs Grey Knights as well? Arent they all psykers?
