  1. Sad - only one week for the pointy ears :(

Guess those shining spears aren't happening then.

    1. Get the new bikes... get converting :)

    2. while the Eldars do need A LOT of updated models (the majority of their models are quote old and ugly imo), they get so much love in term of OP rules than 1 week is well enough for those bastards :P

    3. Yeah, I don't mind waiting. With the new Warhost detatchment I have a small legion of Guardians, hoverguns, War Walkers, and Vypers to paint. I'm just glad to have a real incentive to finish them now.

    4. Didn't you see? Both the Shining spears and autarch on jetbike are getting repacked and moved to being webstore exclusive this week.
Disappointing, I know, but there's no guessing at all.

    5. I find it hard to believe that bikes have been totally redesigned without including the option for Spears?

  2. Not commenting on the validity of the redirect as an indication of what's coming, but there is a Horus Heresy novel called Age of Darkness, and GW does occasionally sell Black Library fiction on their main page. Just food for thought.

    1. I thought the same... GW has a lot of HH books on their page, both hardback and paperback... And Age of Darkness is missing so I would say that this is not the game, it's the book. And why would they name this game like this particular book?

      Delete
    2. Forgeworld kinda confirmed age of darkness as a game by adding it to the rules of the new marine flyer. Saying it can be used in games of age of darkness.

    4. In a game played using the Age of Darkness expansion, a Xiphon pattern Interceptor is available for
use in a Space Marine Legion Crusade army as a Fast Attack choice.

      very interesting...

    5. Battles in the Age of Darkness is the official name of the existing Horus Heresy rules produced by Forge World (pg183-185 The Horus Heresy Book One: Betrayal).

      Delete
    6. on further reflection, age of darkness is the general term used to represent battles in the HH books

      Delete
    7. Doesn't mean something isn't coming out in the future though. Hopefully something pops up to clarify what this redirect actually is for.

      Delete
    8. Oh, I didn't know about these FW rules... Well... then I can't wait to see what it'll be!

  3. Any guesses what Citadel Legends is? Have they run a feature with that name before or is this possibly something new?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Well, they have a Citadel Vault for discontinued or vintage models. Might be a re-launch of that thing.
      Or something entirely new

      Delete
    2. Wonder if it could be the revamped visions launch? Making it something in-between the old citadel journal and old wd eavy metal sections... Can but hope

      Delete
    3. it's probably the name of the new paint brushes

      Delete
    4. I think nakchak hit it on the nose. The new Warhammer: Visions might now be Citadel Legends. It makes sense.

      Delete
    5. it doesn't really...GW now use the Citadel brand to represent their modeling, supply and painting products

    6. Not saying it can't happen but I think they'll keep the Visions name

  4. I'll be glad to have a wee break until it's time for Dark Angels again. Then depending on how well that turns out, I can either sell off my Dark Angels in favour of Skitarii, or keep them as mindslave thrall allies to Skitarii. :-P

I'm just sick of GW jerking us around with Dark Angels. It's got to be the most underdog faction they've ever designed for any of their games. I still remember when it took the Bolter & Chainsword forum writing to Jervis Johnson to get them to change that silly intractable rule that had each squad essentially standing around doing nothing on the roll of a 1 each turn. Then after 4th edition Space Marine assault cannon spam, Jervis felt the need to punish the Dark Angels for it, by making the weapon nearly inaccessible and/or too expensive in points to field.

    1. +1

We are the red-headed stepchild of the Adeptus Astartes. Quite looking forward to seeing how we turn out though. If the utter insanity of the new Eldar stuff is anything to go by, Dark Angels might actually become half decent!

*prays that the Codex creep continues*

      Delete
    2. Sisters players have no sympathy for you. We didn't even rate failcast.

      Delete
    3. Any non-DA/BA/SW faction is the underdogs of the Adeptus Astartes =P

      Delete
    4. Yeah, right, white scars = underdogs...

      Delete
    5. Yeah, right, white scars = underdogs...

      Delete
    6. At least Dark Angels have ATSKNF, one of the best special rules in the game

      Delete
    7. ATSKNF loses quite a bit of its utility when combined with stubborn. Sometimes it would be nice to actually fall back from combat

      Delete
    8. Make that, one of the most stupidly overpowered rule in the game

      Delete
    9. ATSKNF is bonkers, I agree, but it's not really a replacement for... Well, the rest of our codex being utter gank =P

      Delete
    10. Underdog? Try Slaanesh Chaos

      Delete
    11. Tzeentch is so much worse then slaanesh...

      Delete
    12. ^ that and sisters otherwise most others have had love before. these two get gank and stank and left for dead.

      Delete
    13. My Slaanesh daemon army is regularly blasted off the table! I want to assault from Deepstrike or have an assault chariot transport. Then I want the moon on a stick

      Delete
    14. I gotta stick for your moon...

  5. I'm still not convinced that Dark Angels are the underdogs of anything. Their FOC modifiers basically make them untouchable in Maelstrom games. Objective Secured Bikes and Termies screw my Crons and Nids every time.

    1. If you are consistently getting beat by Deathwing, it might be time to try something new. Deathwing are the worst build in a subpar codex.

What's infuriating as a Dark Agels player is that the rules look like they were written by interns. Dark Angels can be played well, but you are working with a handicap.

      Delete
    2. He didn't say he was playing against a Deathwing only build

      Delete
    3. My experience of facing Deathwing is either:
      A) Everything I fire/hit them with bounces off while they stomp over everything
      Or
      B) They fail virtually every save and die horribly almost instantly

      Delete
    4. Obj Secured Bikes and TDA will be a thing of the past in the new Dex though (what scars ftw then?)

      Delete
    5. Unless the new style detachments allow for it. After all you can take an eldar windrider primary...

  6. Vid of next white dwarf

  7. Well other than being 40k, next weeks teaser is... Very vague... Codex: Guardians of the Galaxy?

    1. lol... I was pretty sure *no one* could save the galaxy in the 41st millenium! Too far gone and the Tyranids are eating everything.

  9. Pardon my ignorance, but what is the community's confidence level that dark angels are coming soon?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. very high

probably only 1 week. Codex + interrogator chaplain

      Delete
    2. All the best sources agree that they're coming soon =D

      Delete
    3. And Space Marines will likely come 2 months later with everything better and cheaper....

      Delete
    4. Exactly. Same story, different year.

      Delete
    5. The only things space marines need: (honour guard), tech marine and servitor models; proper legion of the damned models and codex (print); and proper deathwatch models and codex. That may feel like a long list but compared to other codices it's quite short (yes you SoB, eldar, orks and chaos marines)

      Delete
    6. I still feel the Space Marines need a new land speeder model....those javelin speeder from FW are so much better looking. A new razorback box that included all the FW turrets + a new grav cannon turret would be nice too. I also wouldn't say no to some new scout models...

      Delete
    7. Those I agree would be nice but not something we desperately NEED. After all they are all plastic already. GW's real challenge is to get rid of all the fine cast units over the next two years (not including special characters).

  10. Every week it seems forge world is mentioned in next weeks hints, what has this actually materialised as?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Each week they show off some Forgeworld models in the White Dwarf. So far, that's it, but they're definitely making people aware of the models, which is nice.

      Delete
    2. more coverage for FW......that's one of the benefits that has materialized out of all this. so there is that.
