Leaked Images This Week...Tape Measures, Paints, and More

This looks like an odd week out, with no model releases and instead just a set of odds and ends. New Shades, Dry Set, AoS Tape Measure, and Case Harness for your models is about it. Check out the latest for this week below.

    1. It's actually bully bait so said kid can use it as a S10 AP1 assault weapon.

    1. If it is actually made of metal and not faux metal plastic that is the bitchiest tape measure!
Sadly I just remember the one time I touched a servo skull tape measure and it just felt cheap.

    2. It was very cheap tape measure, the front part of mine that kept the tape from going in broke off after less than a year

    3. It looks awesome.
It may well replace my B&Q extra value one that I have had for 7 years...
      ;D

    4. Haha I've got one of them! Cheap and orange and nasty. But it does the job.

    6. I like vintage tape measures. My Stanley (inches only) one was made in 1954 and still going strong.

I also like folding rulers, they can be found very cheap and are often made really beautifully from box wood with brass hinges. A 6" one is brilliant as it folds out to become a 6, 12, 18 and 24" stick. I also have a 9" one that unfolds to 18, 27 and 36". Very very useful, I don't know why no-one sells these.

    7. I also had a GW tape measure, it didn't last long and now my homebase replacement is much better, I can just about measure 72" without it flopping

    8. I know some people like collectibles but $55US for a tape measure is absurd. I said the same thing about those stupid $70AUD dice cups.... my GW store still has them sitting on the counter. While stocks last.... forever because no one wants them.

    9. Its always the same thing.

GW logo on cheap ass side products with a 200% mark up.

You can get better cheap at best buy. And you can paint. So just paint the logo or symbole on.

How is this new to anyone? Its the same releases every year. Just no Army deals. So Its just a wasted week.

  3. There are no 'new' Shades, just the ones that're already there in bigger pots, for more money.

    1. Yep. the text says 12 Citadel Shade paints in bigger paintpots. These are £4.55 each for 24ml. The current pots are £2.55 for 12ml so the large pots work out as actually a saving of 55p over the price of 2 pots (or 11% off the total price, or 20% off the second pot). Nothing like the scale of the saving from the Betrayal at Calth box over the individual components but by GW standards still something of a surprise - perhaps this is more evidence of the price point reviews the new CEO promised?

    2. ^ we might have a winner. but seriously it is about the right time for us all to see more "broader price points".

    3. Vallejo
Better paint at lower price in better potts. New GW potts break all the Time. Then it doesnt stay Open. You got to really watch Its closed caus they dont close well, it drys out all the Time.
These bigger potts are just going to dry out and lose you more money.

    4. ^ i totally disagree there Seb on the paints drying out fast. where i live on avg it gets to around mid 30 degrees Celsius or above in summer, and not too much difference all year around. point: i have paint from 3rd edition and it's still "usable". the new paint might dry out but that is why i store my paint in a cool dry place. also not hard to add a bit of water to thin it every now and again. also another thing to prove the paint is ok for the money: i have left paint in the sun in the pot on a 40 degree Celsius day and it was fine the next day.....also Vallejo i find is too thin for what i usually paint. while it could be cheaper it's one of the few things i care about from GW.

    5. 3rd edition paints were awesome. I still have some and they work great. Definitely not the case with the new paints though. The pots always break and the paints dry out all the time. Really wish they would come up with a paint pot design that didn't suck.

    6. I can't say that any of my pots have broken so far. I did have agg with a pot of Runelord Brass turning into metallic jelly but I took it to my local GW and they just replaced it on the spot. Nothing else has dried out or broken...yet...

    7. Vallejo paint is much better try it.

    8. I find Vallejo paint very hard to use, it's like painting with watered down cream...
the pot's just make a mess and the colour consistency is non existent...
In my opinion GW paints are and have always been the best in on the market, I'm still using paint's I bought 20 years ago.
And with the other ranges of paint GW produce like the texture range and the dry range they tick every box.
      :)

  9. Did anyone actually ask for any of this? Overpriced tape measure? More Dry paints... which in my experience are terrible.
Seems like a "filler" week so that people spend more money on Betrayal at Calth.

Also... what changed with the liquid green stuff since it's now almost double the original price? Did the pot get bigger like the shades?

    ReplyDelete

    1. The filler weeks are standard GW practice around the holidays. This latest filler wave is actually quite a bit early based on releases during previous fiscal year Q1s.

    2. Anyway, I refuse to paint with Citadel Colour and I use Milliput instead of green stuff, so I am unaffected. :P
I'm not sure about the green stuff price point but I'd bet it's now in the larger size pot.

    3. What do you paint with? I want to move to Vallejo Game Air since they can both be airbrushed and painted on but I can't justify making the $250 swap right now

  10. Deffo interested in one of those backpack frames for when riding instead of driving. Nifty move!
