I have been working on hard on my own dark eldar lists, and trying out just about everything under the black suns of Commorragh. What I have found is that I am going in two different directions with my lists, one of heavy shooting with a good numbers of infantry and vehicles, and the other going the way of the webway portals and Haemonculi.

I will end up posting both, since both have been having great success on the tabletop, and I will eventually have to decide between them. Here is my latest Dark Eldar list that is next going to hit the table top. It's a working list, so Any suggestions are very welcome.

Both lists use Asdrubael Vect in them, so that is a constant. This list is meant to capture both the heavy use of Darklight technology with just as much or even more splinter weapons. Vect is used simply to grab a hold of when I start the game, not to mention he will be jumping around in the middle of my trueborn to kill whatever comes his way. This army is meant to kill quickly anything that it chooses to engage at the medium ranges of the weaponry the wield.

I am one point over, however this list is not ready yet, so I am looking to improve it, refine it or wipe it.
The heavy numbers here are meant to give this list some holding as well as provide round after round of firepower on the table top. It also allows them to hold objectives, with or without pain tokens.

The list has 29 Darklight weapons, with 10 splinter cannons, not to mention the 8 shatterfield missles. The Trueborn in most cases will move to take advantage of the raiders to move into a midfield position to gather maximize their shooting vantage. The Splinter Cannon Warriors will move forward on the field toward objectives, firing all the while, while the Lance Warriors keep up backfield position in cover while firing the lances at the enemy. The two smaller 10 man warrior teams, will move to midfield in support of the trueborn while the Voidravens will come in from along one edge or the other to pick off the enemies flanks or whatever gets exposed.

Following any blown up mech or units on the ground, an overwhelming hail of splinter rifles and cannons should keep any infantry at a distance.

Let me know what you think. This is a list I am planning on testing the merits of on the table top next.

2 Comments:

  1. Eh, only 5 Raiders at 2500? I don't think that'll end well. Also, where does Vect go? He seems wasted. A few Haemocolui or Venoms seem like they could make the list a lot better.

  2. The raiders are only there to get field position, as 5-7 really don't make that big of a difference. The most transports you can get in a game is 9. Since raiders die in the first half the game most of the time, I prefer the raider at lower numbers, since I will be popping their armor during the time they are still functioning. The splinter cannons are nice on the venom, but I need those splinter cannons late game as well, so I prefer the Raider most of the time unless fielding 7-9 transports in my list.

I agree though on Vect not having a close combat unit to run around with. Even the haemonculi tokens would help with the trueborn staying alive. It came down to the trade offs of more men with more guns.
