2018 has been a game changer – literally! We’ve seen some major changes across every system, with classics returning, popular games reinvented and some brand-new games besides. Today, we’re rounding up the biggest news from across the year:
2018 saw Warhammer Age of Sigmar reforged with a magnificent second edition. Consolidating three years of lore and rules development, this edition has helped cement Warhammer Age of Sigmar as both an incredibly rewarding tactical wargame and a rich and detailed setting. Since the release of the new edition, we’ve seen incredible battletomes for factions old and new – and we’re just getting started…
This year also saw the return of a much-loved game system from Warhammer’s past – Adeptus Titanicus – reborn with brand-new rules and a growing range of models. Offering intense tactical action, this game transforms the Horus Heresy’s most titanic battles into nail-biting duels of wits, where careful planning and knowing your Titans inside out is just as important as applying overwhelming firepower. Plus, the tiny Imperial Knights are adorable.
Legions of hobbyists got into Warhammer because of the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game – and this year, legions have returned to it with a new edition. Bringing together the game’s best and most comprehensive rules ever and offering players the chance to battle through Middle-earth, it’s proved to be a smash hit, with many more expansions and models planned for the future.
Warhammer Quest is back – and it’s better than ever. This year, adventurers had the chance to explore one of the 41st Millennium’s most enduring mysteries in Warhammer Quest: Blackstone Fortress, and there are loads of exciting expansions on the way…
Lastly, Warhammer Underworlds continues to go from strength to strength, with Warhammer Underworlds: Nightvault adding magic to the game. With new warbands and cards on the way, the ultimate competitive miniatures game is deeper than ever.
