Happy New Year! Forge World is starting 2019 with a swathe of new releases, including Star Players for Blood Bowl and heads for a huge variety of Necromunda gangs. Let’s take a closer look.
The plastic Necromunda kits are wonderfully versatile. They have loads of ways to combine bodies, heads and weapon arms to create a gang that is distinctively yours. The various weapons packs available for different gangs increase this variety, and so do this week’s releases, which comprise new packs of resin heads for no fewer than five different gangs.
The Orlock Head Upgrade Set contains 13 different resin components, each of them giving your gangers from the House of Iron a different look. Some sport goggles, others rebreathers, and some a mix of both, as well a few different sinister masks.
The Escher Head Upgrade Set leans less on accessories and more on outrageous hairstyles for the 12 resin heads it contains. From a spiked mohawk to some ambitious feathered hairdos, there are plenty of fierce new looks for your gangers.
The gangers of House Cawdor tend to shroud themselves in hoods, and the 16 resin parts in the Cawdor Head Upgrade Set exemplify this with a wide variety of different hoods, and a few other looks too, such as spiked faceplates and some terrifying masks.
The Van Saar Head Upgrade Set includes 12 new options for the technologically advanced gangers, many of them sporting radiation burns and other signs of the horrors consuming them, along with rebreathers and some surprisingly fashionable hairstyles.
Goliath players are being particularly spoiled, with two Head Upgrade Sets, each sporting 13 new resin pieces for their gangs. Set 1 features a variety of rebreathers and other facial protection, while Set 2 consists of bare heads – and of course, they all have hugely impressive mohawks!
It’s not all underhive action this week though – there are also two new Blood Bowl Star Players ready to take to the pitch and cause carnage.
Karla von Kill is one of the sport’s natural Blitzers, blessed with a tendency towards violence that’s enough to garner respect from even Orcs and Ogres. Her model, which can be used in Human, Amazon, Norse and Halfling teams, is poised to fight, arms ready for that crucial block, blitz or sack.
Helmut Wulf is equally violent but in a very different way… Rather than natural athleticism, he relies on a chainsaw, which means he’s often ejected from games not long after he enters. His short time on the pitch doesn’t harm his body count much though, thanks to the whirring blades. The model is rushing forward to slice through a no-doubt terrified opponent and can find a place in Human, Amazon, Norse, Lizardmen, Vampire and Chaos Renegades teams.
All of these new resin miniatures and accessories are available to pre-order now.
