The 2019 New Year Open Day is coming this weekend!. January 5th which puts it coming this Saturday at Warhammer World.

It should be a big weekend with lots of Gloomspite Gitz being previewed to start off the new year for the Age of Sigmar. However, there should be a little bit more that we will be seeing........

Here is a  brief on the event.
Seminars: There will be a host of seminars ranging from Black Library authors to Forge World designers, discussing what it was like to work on projects both old and new. Then, of course, there’s the ever-popular Warhammer Community and Design Studio seminar that, amongst other topics, traditionally offers a tantalising glimpse of upcoming releases…

Studio Area: Meet and greet the many creative minds behind the last 20 years of Warhammer. From games developers and background writers to miniatures designers and painters, illustrators and graphic designers, there are countless talented individuals involved in the design process and production of the games and model ranges, and many of them will be on hand to show you how it’s done.

Black Library Signing Area: A selection of Black Library authors will be attending to join in the seminars and sign copies of their books – be sure to bring your favourite novels along with you! If you ask nicely, they may even drop a hint or two about what they’re writing now…

Painting Clinics: Warhammer TV’s Peachy and Duncan will be on hand to offer painting and modelling guidance. They will be joined by members of the legendary ’Eavy Metal team, who will be discussing how to achieve world-class miniatures painting. Whether you’re relatively new or a painter of the highest caliber, you’ll be able to pick up some great tips.

Painting Competition: Bring your best miniatures and enter them into the painting competition that will be taking place on the day. An elite team of judges will be tasked with picking the winners and top entries from each category, as well as choosing a single overall victor for the event. Evena less experienced hobbyist can learn a lot by chatting with the judges and many of the high-end painters who frequent such competitions. There will obviously be a huge selection of beautifully painted miniatures to check out, too!

Open Gaming Area: A trip to Warhammer World almost wouldn’t be complete without a game or two! With that in mind, there will be an area dedicated to ad-hoc bring-and-battle games on a selection of tables, ranging from standard battlefields to highly detailed and thematic war zones.

Demo Pods: A number of staff will be on hand to teach a variety of games. Never tried Blood Bowl? Fancy yourself the Princeps of a god-machine in Adeptus Titanicus: The Horus Heresy? Seeking to enter the Blackstone Fortress? These games and more will all be available for you to try out!

Latest Releases and Event-exclusive Miniatures: All of the weekend’s newest releases will be available alongside the full selection of event-exclusive miniatures from Citadel and Forge World. And in the unlikely event of any of these items running out of stock, fear not – they will be shipped to you anywhere in the world postage-free!

20 Years of Warhammer World: To celebrate this milestone, some of Games Workshop’s most iconic games and miniatures will be out on display for the first time in many years. Do you know what an Ambull or a Zoat is? What about the Squats? Come along and check them out – they’ve missed you!

I spent some time talking to a lot about what was going to be there this weekend and the biggest news (speculation from the conversation) was all about Genestealer Cults.

While Games Workshop gave us a list of things to look forward to in 2019, some of these will not be coming right away, but Genestealer Cults Ive been told several times will come early this year.

Other surprises Ive been hearing about?
Crimson Fists, Primaris Marines Wave 2, New Primarchs.......... These are what I am hoping to hear mentioned this weekend. So we will be looking out for anything coming in this direction.

So if you are local going to be at the event..... keep your eyes and ears open. I know the rest of us not in the UK are waiting and watching....

Oh yea... Did you see that they mentioned squats above? yea, reset or smash that clock!
