Faeit's Rumor Tarot: Tyranids, Imperial Guard, and the Future

This week was all about Games Day UK and the events that unfolded since. So it was a big news week, and a light rumor week. Of course we have rumors about Tyranids and what is to come. So lets take a look at the rumors and a brief look at this weeks news stories.

Each week, Faeit's Rumor Tarot will take a look at what rumors came up among the myriad of games that were covered here on Faeit 212 to divine the future of what is going on in our hobby. On occasion I will be breaking any weekend developments that were discovered or revealed, so keep a watch out, for on the Faeit's Tarot, you never know what secrets may be revealed. If you think you may have missed something, here is your chance to catch up.

News Stories of the Week

This weeks news stories were mostly about three things. So we are not talking Dark Elves, because they have already been released, with a very nice wave of models. So here are some of the big news stores that was being talked about this week

The Horus Heresy Book 2: Massacre

Digital Releases: Sentinels of Terra and Sisters of Battle

A New Dark Age

Massive Tyranids Release

Rumors have it that the Tyranids release will replace any metal and finecast models in the line, on top of one or two new units for the codex. Of course we are expecting Tyranids in January, and I think the last hold outs have given in to a January release.

The emperors tarot points straight on January for the big release we are all waiting for.

A Lictor of mine told me, that the skymother will bring us new goodness at the start of the next year.
Magos Kelly asked about this, just smirked and reminded me about the trouble he got into the last time something passed his lips.

You should have seen the glitter and the endless hunger in his eyes...

No new Hormagaunts or Termagaunts
Have to let you down.... no horma or termagants coming up...

Release will emphasize new plastic kits.
Every missing model will ship with the release.
Smaller amount of new unseen models, higher amount of reworked existing models.
All old metal models replaced with new plastic kits (aka NO finecast survives)
Roughly 10+ new models in the release (including replacement kits and combo-kit build options)

Release Schedule Changes

Release schedules get adjusted all the time, which is literally a fact of how things work, despite the popular opinion that they dont, and the rumors are all wrong. So this weeks, slight bit with a little shuffling around does not come as a surprise.

via 40k Radio ***
First 5 months of releases for 2014
Jan – ‘Nids
Feb – can’t recall at the moment (Might be Hobbit related)
Mar – Dwarfs

May – Wood Elves

On September 19th 40k Radio had this schedule up.
Oct: Dark Elves
Nov: Holiday Releases(boxed army type stuff)
Dec: Hobbit
Jan: Tyranids
Feb: Dwarfs

No Rumors Beyond this Point
I am rating what I personally think of the rumors (not the source). This is based off of behind the scenes knowledge, what different sources are saying, and general logic and guesswork. It goes like this

5 Stars. If its got a 5 star rating, I personally have probably seen the release information. (think Natfka has seen this stuff personally)

4 Stars is a very reliable rumor, and comes from someone I generally know to be in a good place, or the rumors match up well. These are not facts!, These are still rumors, and even great sources can have some information wrong on occasion. (think hastings-like, or close to that)

3 Stars, is a decent rumor. Should be looked at with some truth in it. An average rumor (most will fall here). Rumor based off of real information, discussion, or we do not know where it falls. (Like I said, most will fall here, and this is the baseline.)

2 stars. Most likely speculation, but sound OK. Every once in a while these have something (think Natfka doesn't really think this is happening, but ya never know)

1 Star. Way out in left field, and I feel that these are probably just wild speculation or made up. (think whoa, where the hell did this come from, and generally posted up because its fun, or Natfka was bored)

  1. Are there no new Innocens/Inquisitor rumors? Or Blood Bowl? Was there ever a black mystery box?

    1. The guy on Warseer who correctly predicted the Dark Elf dual month release, as well as the prices, rules and cost is the one who had called the rumored Inquisition box Innocence. He said he was 95% sure it would be released in November. He was right on Dark Elves, I really hope he is right about a 40k skirmish game as well. It's basically the only 40k release I care about right now.

    1. yes?! they are now the oldest codex....
and they are not really playeble except with mass..

    2. Someone is always the oldest codex by definition. They may not be super amazing, but they are definitely playable.
Lots of things need lots of bodies to be good, and I don't expect a new codex to change that, it's part of their shtick.

They're probably still coming, in like july or something.

    4. I've tabled 'Cron Air lists with Orks since the start of 6th and they've been doing fine ever since!

  5. I think you should change it to cheeses and award 5 cheeses to the most unreliable:) I may have to start reporting rumours again just so I can award them cheesiness!

  6. So, what's the situation for November? Dark Elves 2: Dark Elver only, or "Innocence" too?

  7. Can't be too surprised Brets fell off the rumor train, I suppose.
