Metal Models Returning to Stock

In an email from Games Workshop, many models were set to be returned to back in stock. While I don't know exactly how this effects the rumored metal to resin, or orders, I figured I would post this and let other people make all the assumptions and projections.

Here is the list, please take it as a rumor since I have not seen the actual email. Add salt.

  1. Interestingly enough, there are no Tyranids in this list. Nor there are any Eldar HQs. What will become of them?

  3. hi ghost21 here its just stock from the uk... if you want a metal mini of sth get it soon

  4. These are just units that are going to GW MAIL ORDER. They will no longer be carried in stock in GW shops as standard nor made available to Independent Retailer.

If retailers or customers want them these items they can be obtained through GW Mail Order and stores can obtain them through their Bitz Service, albeit at a reduced retailer discount.

The reason GW is doing it this way is to cut down on amount of inventory, and thus casting out of stocks with new metal resources. These are all the lowest turnover (least selling) codes.

Think of it this way. If every GW shop has a facing of 3 Inquisitor Karamazov's (which is pretty standard) multiplied by approx. 50 North American shops = 150 boxed sets. When the average turnover is one of these sets per quarter is it really necessary to have that much inventory sitting there static?

By returning the stock to the warehouse that is less inactive product and eliminates the need to waste finite costly metal resources on recasting these codes.

Instead that metal will be used to recast top turnover codes which will still remain available in shops, for now.

This is just an acceleration of the metal reduction policy GW has been practicing for the past four years.

  5. @Dobi - Tyranids aren't on that list because they are high enough sellers to remain on the 'Active' stock list and will remain in shops.

  6. oh so gaunts ghosts: the founding is now with metal pages: id have actually quite liked it in resin! :P

  7. Ghost21 and Trent, thanks for clearing up what is going on.

  8. @ "While I don't know exactly how this effects the rumored metal to resin"...

    Not "effects", it "affects".

  9. That is one of those grammatical errors I really do not have much interest in, but thanks. I did spend the time to look up the differences for the future.

  10. The New Astron .... you tilt the table, such as knocking the corners off square stock before turning on a lathe. Cool blocks are graphite replacements for the metal guide pins. ..... It's ackward
