I am going to release a the racial build rules for The Genesys Project in a couple of days, and figured it was a great time to post up on a sample race created by it. This will give you an idea on just how varied and fun the building your own race in Genesys can be.


If you are new to the game concept, The Genesys Project allows you to create and advance your own faction. Its a new game system that I have been a part of for a couple years, and the push is to get the game released to everyone soon. The first release will be the racial build docs.

1. Sample Race Build, and we will go into more details about how this is done later. For now though, the selection of traits is what defines the abilities of our race. Our base racial build grants the abilities to all models in our faction.

We want our Mountain Orcs to be Feral savage beasts led by a powerful God King. Trolls and Giants would be wonderful as well to be part of our elite forces. 

Mountain Orc Warriors

Orc Warriors are our base for our race. These are a standard unit class, so will be available with all the traits we choose for race. Here is our list of traits we choose to make our race. 

Feral 4pts: Racial Variation, Increase Strength 1, Decrease Command 1
Bestial Attributes 6pts: Increase Movement 1 or Increase Toughness 1, Decrease Discipline 1
Slave Population 2pts: Slave Population
God Kings 3pts: Bonus Traits 2 (Unique)
Advanced Mail -/5pts (Armory): Special Equipment: Advanced Mail


2. Now that we have our base race, we will build some new classes that will fill out our Standard Classes, as well as our Elite Classes, Leaders and Uniques. When you create new classes, you get to select additional traits that apply only to the the specific class you are building. The class still retains all the abilities that you choose before, in addition to the class specific traits.

Our first class will be the standard Mountain Orc Warrior we made for our base race. This will keep basic warriors with a low point cost.

Our Second standard class will be Beast Packs, an Orc Warrior that runs into battle with his wolves.

We can't forget that we took slaves as well, This grants us an additional class that can only be fielded with primitive weapons, but at a reduced cost. Of course these must be puny orcs from other clans.

3. Elite Classes
These are built off of existing classes or the racial base. 
The first one we will do of course will be Dire Wolf Riders.

Each animal is 45pts.

Our second we want some large brutes to control our slaves, so how about some Mountain Ogres.

Last Elite Class. these guys will be elite orcs that have become one with their wolf packs. built off of the Beast Packs, these Orcs have the gift of Lycanthropy to transform into viscous creatures that still run with thier wolves.
