Faeit's Rumor Tarot: Inquisition, 40k Expansions, Forgeworld for Normal Games

This week was just packed with rumors and news. From Codex Inquisition being officially announced this week, to rumors of 40k Expansions, Forgeworld changing the Wording on all the products, and much, much more. There was so much this week, that it really does help to see it all in one place sometimes.

I carry with me an Inquisitorial Seal. It is a small, unassuming object contained in a neat box of Pluvian obsidian. It is a modest thing. Relatively plain, adorned with a single motif and a simple motto. Yet with this little object I can sign the death warrant of an entire world and consign a billion souls to Oblivion.

-Thraviam Flast, Inquisitor of the Ordo Malleus

Please remember that above all else, that everything below is a rumor.

Forgeworld No Longer a Question of Use in Standard 40k Games

This came as a part two of the information we received from a good source who was talking about Codex Inquisition. This gets right to the point and led to some great discussions about the legality of Forgeworld models. If you want to read more on this, and I highly suggest you do, Aaron Dembski-Bowden made some comments to the below article, and they are collated at this link. He makes it very clear about what is legal and what is not when it comes to Forgeworld. http://natfka.blogspot.com/2013/11/40k-rules-expansions-escalation-and.html

Here is the rumor that started all this, and I for one, love the variability that Forgeworld can bring to the table. The more options the better.

immediately afterward (codex Inquisition) we'll be seeing the Forgeworld forces of the space marines and inquisition to update all those rules as well.

Also, while written to be polite, the sentence that says "while this should be considered official, check with your opponent" in the Forgeworld books is being changed.

In the new forces of the SM and Inquisiton it says "these are official, but make sure your opponent knows the rules of any models chosen from this book." (quoting from memory so syntax may be slightly different)

So... Let's all welcome Forgeworld to the table.

Codex Inquisition

Codex Inquisition was announced officially this weekend, and is due for pre-orders on November 9th, with a release for the 16th. This will be a digital exclusive item, at least at first. I am sure that this will be popular enough to warrant a print copy release later, but for now, if you want the codex, you will have to buy it digitally.

So this being a full codex, there are a lot of questions on what will be in this release. A year ago we had rumors of mini-dexes coming, like Kroot, or other allied books, and this release looks like it will fit the mould. So check out what a long time, source has revealed for us about this upcoming new release.

Codex inquisition still uses your allies slot.

They were written as "battle brother allies" in witch hunters and grey knights before the allies rules were actually implemented an edition later. Now they'll play that way, requiring a troop etc

The difference now though is that the troop choice can be the retinue, full of fun stuff, or the retinue can be an HQ choice without taking a slot so that you can take storm troopers.

It's not a full codex in a sense, you'll find fast attack and heavy support a little light on options.

It's the first of what will be ally intended codexes which as I explained about a year ago can stand alone, but not with the same breadth as other armies.

Also, immediately afterward we'll be seeing the Forgeworld forces of the space marines and inquisition to update all those rules as well.

40k Game Expansions

Potentially Game Changing, these releases are rumored to be for all of our standard games of Warhammer 40k. That means once December hits, that a new Lords of War Foc slot will be open, and new fortifications will available. I am overly excited for these releases, and already see that Games Workshop is taking our game to the next level. War in the 41st century is about to feel and look much like what we read about in the books, and in our imaginations. Machines of Destruction marching forward to collide with impenetrable fortifications is about to become part of our game.

Tyranids

Tyranids are coming soon, and will be next major release from Games Workshop. We are still a full month and a half before we start getting solid information, as the release will be the first Saturday of January, putting advanced orders on December 28th. What a way to start the new year that will be!

Here are the latest whispers on the web about we will see come the new year. (It looks like that this was all one larger rumor set that was broken up into segments on Bols throughout the week)

Tyranid Named Characters
Unique Tyranid creatures are unique per detachment. For for example 2 Dooms, 2 Swarmlords, etc... at 2k, representing a very rare breed but something that each HiveFleet knows how to create in extremis.

Zoanthropes
-Multipart plastic kit makes 3 models.
-Flying bases.
-3 base bodies in the kit, 2 tails are coiled, one is curling slightly forward.
-Back plates and chests are identical for the three. These are wider and slightly taller than the current model. The base tail piece has 2 tiny claws that go on, but are not normal Tyranid ball sockets. The torso has 4 arm sockets. For these models the claw arms are similar to hormagaunt claws, but shorter. Kit contains a dozen arms, most are retracted, four are extended out. All are small atrophied limbs compared to other Tyranids. Two rows of back-vents.
- Multipart heads. There are separate pieces per head to make the mouths have more dimension. One has its tongue out, curling to the side. One closed mouth, one mouth is wide open. The head plate is wider and has a spiked ridge. The brains are exposed, no eyes.
-Tail loses the current model's spiked end.
-Slightly larger than the current model.
-Fundamentally an evolutionary kit from the current Zoanthrope to meet the requirements of injected plastic production.

Tyranids
-Tyranids kick off 2014
-An emphasis on making EVERY unit in the codex viable this time around
-The army rules and theme are focused on adaptability of unit abilities and inter-unit synergy
-Emphasis on model releases will be to get out all the missing models in the previous codex
-Look for a small number of highly specialized new units to shore up 6th edition deficiencies in the army
-A new unseen big bug kit is among these

Imperial Guard

Due for a release this coming March or April (March is what most sources are saying), it is good timing to see what exactly might be on the winds when it comes to a new Imperial Guard Codex.

via Noel at Wargamer ***
-‘Mission Objectives’ are potentially a new special rule for the Imperial Guard, although my channels are a little dry on this front, one can only begin to imagine what they do. I heard on the grapevine, that this special rule would allow even sergeants, to order ‘minor orders’ to their own unit.

-Formerly Forge World dominated vehicles will take a tour in the Imperial Guard codex. This means we could see such units as the Forge World Destroyer Tank Hunter as part of the upcoming codex. Although one finds it extremely unlikely they will receive a new plastic kit.

-Headquarters units have seen a massive shake up. Above the whole organisation, some units have been deleted, others modified. You start by buying a command squad, this is then changed by swapping the officer for a commissar, if one wishes too. The three present advisors have been retained, with the addition of the Primaris Psyker as a command squad advisor.

-Ministorum Priests are back in the same manner as before, this time though it has been rumoured they increase the ranged output of the unit, as well combat potential. Maybe in the form of the ‘preferred enemy’ special rule, who knows?

-The mighty (or not so mighty Enginseer) has stayed relatively the same, except for the transition from HQ to either Elite or Heavy Support. But what excites me the most, are their roles on the field of battle. Apparently they will act much like Royal Courts in the Necron army, bought with certain upgrades, then attached out to other units, to confer certain benefits to that unit.

-In terms of repacking, it is believed that special weapon squads will receive their own box set. This is also rumoured to be extended to veteran squads and heavy weapon teams. Coming in boxes of five models, with a wide variety of special equipment.

-Moving on from the veteran weapon squads re-boxing, it is believed that they will be changing their position on the battlefield. With smaller squad sizes, veterans seem to be taking a fire support role, that focuses on battlefield specialisation.

-Vendetta and Valkyrie gunship’ will more than likely be streamlined into one unit. Also it is believed that the squadron option will be lost, and an increase in points to balance out the power of Vendetta and Valkyrie gunship’ in sixth edition.

New centerpiece kit is a Horus Heresy era tank.

Warhammer Fantasy Release in December

Dwarves Coming Soon

Dwarves are rumored to be coming out soon, February at the earliest point. So when we start hearing reports of models not being restocked, we start fitting together pieces of the release puzzle to get an idea on what is coming and when. So check out the following.

Please remember that these are rumors, and could possibly be an indicator of an upcoming Dwarf Army book release.

via an anonymous source on Faeit 212 ***
The                    store has not received a restock of pretty much everything to do with dwarfs for at least 3 weeks.  These were items of which he had at least two in stock at all times: cannons, bolt throwers, grudge throwers, gyrocopters, miners, thunderers/quarrellers.  These are finecast and plastic items.

We only noticed last week that it had been a really long time since he'd gotten anything in.  I know dwarfs aren't supposed to be until early next year, but we noticed the same thing with some of the space marine items prior to their release.

No Rumors Beyond this Point
I am rating what I personally think of the rumors (not the source). This is based off of behind the scenes knowledge, what different sources are saying, and general logic and guesswork. It goes like this

5 Stars. If its got a 5 star rating, Although still rumor, its only so because nothing has been officially announced (These are on the level of Natfka either has seen this personally, or the Rumor Information is just undeniable and confirmed )

4 Stars is a very reliable rumor, and comes from someone I generally know to be in a good place, or the rumors match up well. These are not facts!, These are still rumors, and even great sources can have some information wrong on occasion. (think hastings-like, or close to that)

3 Stars, is a decent rumor. Should be looked at with some truth in it. An average rumor (most will fall here). Rumor based off of real information, discussion, or we do not know where it falls. (Like I said, most will fall here, and this is the baseline.)

2 stars. Most likely speculation, but sound OK. Every once in a while these have something (think Natfka doesn't really think this is happening, but ya never know)

1 Star. Way out in left field, and I feel that these are probably just wild speculation or made up. (think whoa, where the hell did this come from, and generally posted up because its fun, or Natfka was bored)
