Dark Eldar Dangerous Tactics "Ramming Raiders"

Model by Lordscythican
This is probably something most people will not want to do. I will be the first to tell you, it is a ton of fun, and the suprise on your opponents face is priceless.

First off, there are several advantages to doing this. Lets knock those out quickly. Popping smoke, or being mostly behind another vehicle will not give you a cover save. Second its possible to fly over units or vehicles to do this and deliver a priceless S10 hit where it hurts. While doing this is situational, I have been doing this now for awhile, and can tell you it is effective. Here is the load-out I use.

Faeit 212 Blog Exchange - Just Added

The Blog Exchange is simply put, an exchange of warhammer 40k related blogs links. The idea is to get them all into one place so that blogs out there are a little easier to find. With FTW being put on hold, other means to search the thousands of related blogs is going away.

Placing a listing of 40k blogs onto a blog roll gives people somewhere to go and do a quick search for blogs or their topics they are interested in. There is currently a search at the bottom of the blog roll that will search all the blogs in it for your topic.

Excuse the Mess

I am redoing the layout of the blog, and am seeing what currently will work the best. It will probably be this way for a little bit tonight and possibly into the morning.

Presence of Faeit - Psycannons and Necrons

There have been a ton of rumors this week, including the dreaded Psycannon's stats and the rebirth of the rumor that Necrons are indeed on their way. I beleive those two things are on the highlight reel of the week, although not the most important by any means.

Presence of Faeit is a weekly editorial by myself. I generally report during the week what is going on, and today is my day to comment on what exactly it is that I am thinking of. The cover artwork of Clint Langley for the Black Library "Age of Legend" book coming out in January 2012. Pretty cool.

Necron Rumor Compilation

On the Necron front, the recent rumor mill has put Necrons back on the map. At the turn of the year we had produced a 2011 schedule based on the current information that was available. This put necrons on the map for August/September. You can read that post here. 2011 Release Schedule. Thus far the schedule has held true, but the farther out we go, the less likely it will hold.

Dark Eldar Tactica - Raiders

Dark Eldar are overall the most fragile army out there. You have options to make yourself tougher, but you really cannot deny having your transports armor 10 and open topped that you are going to lose them. Probably all of them. When that happens you are going to lose your warriors and wyches on board, maybe not all of them, but a good number of them. worthy of a break test ( I have even lost 8 out of 10).

The Black Crusade - New RPG from Fantasy Flight Games

Fantasy Flight Games has just announced the Black Crusade RPG game. Here you get to play a servant of Chaos, either Chaos Space Marine or Heretic. It is too bad this did not coincide with a new 5th edition Chaos codex, but since that is a ways off, I am glad to see GW exploring the dark side. Even though I am imagining being able to play as a Thousand Son, Noise Marine or others we will have to wait and see.

Necrons Are Back

There is just something about Necrons that I am looking forward to. I feel they their codex is the most rule broken 4th edition codex out there. We'll be back really has a hard time working, and often necron players play it wrong. (I am being nice because some are making things up and often need to be corrected). I really like We'll be back, but the rule really needs some work. It's clumsy and awkward on the tabletop.

Do I want them to get feel no pain? No. At least not as it stands. I want them to have something a little more unique than that. I would even be OK with feel no pain and a new streamlined we'll be back. Make them tough, really tough. Point them accordingly.

Regardless, there were some rumors being floated yesterday.

Psycannons, Psilencers and Incinerators of My! Grey Knights

Now that we have an idea of what a Psycannon is alongside some of the other weaponry of the Grey Knights we can make a couple comments on them. First off, GW has hit the ball on the head when it comes to my favorite type of weapons, High rates of fire on medium strength weapons. Lets look.

Great Hints at What is to Come from the Black Library (awesome artwork as well)

The Black Library is teasing us today with a hint of what is to come with some great artwork. Here is what they said today.

Blog Exchange Getting Your Word Out

It is coming up a year since I started this blog and I was going to take a hard look at the format here and see if anything needs to be done. It seems in the last week what the community is really craving for is a more permanent blog place to help get the word out with their blogs.

Grey Knight Questions and Answers

A little forum conversation with some questions and answers for the up and coming Grey Knights Codex. They are rumors until we get our hands on it. So Please take with a large amount of salt.

Blog Exchange and BlogDex

There are a ton of good blogs out there. I am always adding to my blog roll (mid to lower right column), and it is part of my early morning reading. The problem for most bloggers is getting on enough blog rolls or getting links up. So today I am going to do a blog exchange.

If you have a blog, link it up in the comments. Get a blog roll going, I will add you to mine and vise versa. All blogs start with no one checking on them. I remember single digit page views for months. So if you want a plug, do it here.

Another great project currently going on is GDMNW's new BlogDex. It is a great new index of blogs that needs your views to be successful. With FTW being put on hold, it will be much harder for people to find the blogs they are looking for. Definetly check this one out and use it as a resource to find blogs. BlogDex

Weapons of the Grey Knights

Rumors are abound, as is the leaked playtest version of a codex. Sticking to the rumor side of things, new rumors emerged today regarding the weapons employed by the Grey Knights. Rumors are rumors, and take all with a grain of salt.

Pics of the Week (Double Header)

Earlier today I had posted the Pics of the Week, and it wasnt until much later that I noticed I had posted the wrong batch of pics. Oh well, that just means I will do another round. Here is another round of Pics of the Week. The picture above is not a self portrait.

Pics of the Week

Sometimes it seems like I have an unlimited number of pics to choose from, and this weeks Pics of the Week is no exception. Here are some of the best of this week.

Pics of the Week is a weekly post on 40k artwork from mostly from my archives that I have been building for the last 13 years. Check back every Tuesday for the Pics of the Week. Other weekly posts are Presence of Faeit a weekly commentary, and I am working on one other, which will not feature artwork, but model work.

New Blood Angels Mission, Liber Apocalyptica, and Some Models.

Today from Games Workshop we have a couple new missions apocalypse formations and some very well done models for Blood Angels. The models are beyond exceptional, and as always new missions are always fun to read through. Here is what is new today.

Release the Monsters - Battle Brief

Most of you have read Woes of Dark Eldar that was posted a couple weeks ago. If not here it is. Link. Basically I lost 900 points round 1 with my Dark Eldar MSU list. It was rematch time, and I can safely say that the battle started horribly.

Grey Knights - Unbreakable Venerable Dreadnaughts

While I generally do not get into specifics or rumors or project what is coming, this one had me thinking. It looks like from rumors that venerable dreadnaughts are going to get fortitude. This is all a little ahead of what we know for sure, since we do not have the codex in hand.

Now we all know that venerable dreadnaughts can get a re-roll on the damage charts when they are glanced and penetrated. This can make them very hard to kill long range fire support. Especially when sitting behind a wall or a rhino getting a cover save.

We'll be Back. Maybe.

The Necron rumor mill have been very quiet of late. So when something pops up, even if it is very very faint, its time to post it. Necron players I am sure at the moment are hanging on every thread just hoping to get a glimpse of when their codex is getting the 5th edition treatment. While necrons do seem to be coming soon, there has also been previous rumors it is getting sidelined and pushed back. Then there are the rumors that the Tau are taking their place in the 4th quarter of this year.

Presence of Faeit "Leaked Grey Knight Codex"

This week was dominated by the leaked copy of the Grey Knight Codex and the release of the reinforcements for Dark Eldar. For myself it also includes a rematch of one of my worst games in history which is happening later today.

Presence of Faeit is a weekly editorial piece, with no set day, but will often be at the end of each week. Last week was the first of such, and if it works, will keep it up.

Eldar Wasp Assault Walker Release (24" move + assault)

Today or rather yesterday, but I didnt get to it til today, we have a new Forgeworld release, The Eldar Wasp Assault Walker. Alongside the eldar release, there are new Ultramarine decals, and reservation orders are now being taken for the Forge World Open Day at Warhammer World. The event is April 3rd.

Grey Knights Codex Rumor Compilation

The old compilation I was using is definetly out of date, so I found a better one. It seems more precise and has more information than the others I have dug up with point costs and stat lines. The last compilation was on Feb. 6th. Apparently people have been digging through the codex and we have a ton more information. I didnt put this together, so credits are at the bottom.

I am hopefully not going to have to put together another compilation of this codex, as this one seems like it will last til we get the codex. Remember that nothing is final, nothing is for sure, that these are rumors of people that supposedly have access to the codex. I have seen these over and over, so it at least seems that everyone seems to be on the same page. I spent some time comparing other information, and this seems to be the best compilation I could dig out.

Release the Monsters - Dark Eldar Haemonculi Army

It's time to once again unleash the Haemonculi, full of webway portals teeming with monstrous minions waiting to unleash straight into the enemies lines. Thought I would share my list for my upcoming Saturday match up. The purpose of this list, field control. Webways holding back some of the biggest and baddest. Here is the list.

Grey Knights Reality Check - The Latest in Rumors

Just in Case you thought the Grey Knights were going to be broken, it seems the latest in the rumormill is a reality check on a few reported rumors that have been going on for quite some time. Even things that did not make the codex. Also included is a small snippet on what is supposed to be done in plastic sets.

Unleash the Beasts - New Pics

Dark Eldar today recieved some unexpected reinforcements, Beastmasters and their beasts. We also got a new succubi model. Even though we knew these were coming, their sudden release announcement today came as a shock. Games Workshop also released some new pics of the new models, and I am quite impressed with the new models. Here are some new pics of them just incase you can't get enough.

A couple of minor things. I was really hoping for a couple different heads or looks from the beastmaster that more corresponded to the type of beasts they were controlling. I imagine some customizing is possible. While the poses do not matter for most of the beasts, I am not a fan of the clawed fiend pose. I am hoping I can get more poses out of the model.

The Dark Eldar reinforcements are available now for pre-order, and due to be released on March 19th

Beasts Masters and Beasts Now Available for Advance Order! (link provided)

They are here, Beastmasters and their Beasts! Release the Hounds!. They are due to be released March 19th but are up for order now on the GW website. The Clawed fiend I think is the most suprising model. Really did not expect the look of it, and I am drooling to get a hold of them.

I was hoping for more Beastmaster types. In fact I was hoping for one of each type of beasts. Oh well, I can't have everything. NO need to bitch about metal, we all knew it was coming.

Tactica of Commorragh - Wracks

The biggest problem I have had with wracks is their inability to shoot. While they are good at standing still, and absorbing small arms fire, they really did not shine on me until they hit the table a few times.

There are a few problems when trying to get special characters into wrack units. It really is one of the biggest efficiency problems the wracks have.

Pics of the Week

Every Tuesday I do a Pics of the Week. These are pics that have been collecting lately or have dug out of my library. Often I try for a these, but hey, I don't always have it. Here they are, my Pics of the Week.

Summer of Fliers "Stormraven Coming To All Chapters, Tyranid Harpy"

Two things coming at us this morning on the Summer of Fliers. We have all been waiting for to find out exactly what Jes meant was coming out this summer, and we are running out of breath. (dying for info).

Being a player with a large Imperial Guard force, an equally big Kabal of Dark Eldar, and a decent Blood Angels army, I am definetly concerned when we are talking about delays, or models being pushed back. The Stormraven drama continues, its almost as bad as a daytime Soap Opera. Enough talk, here are the rumors. Take as you will with a bunch of salt.

Secrets of the Dark Eldar - Shattershard Revealed

Earlier this morning I started up a post here on getting around wound allocation with the use of shattershard. The results really defined on how this piece of arcane wargear really work. Not only did I start the thread here, I also hit up some rules forums as well, to get other insights. Learning how something works and figuring out the ins and outs really can be time consuming. Here is what it is.

Secrets of the Dark Eldar - Denial of Wound Allocation

The Dark Eldar are insidious. In warhammer we are often trying to throw down enough wounds on a unit to take out either those special/ heavy weapons, or the leader/ independent character attached to the unit. As players to of this great game, we all know the basics of wound allocation, and how to use it to our advantages.

Once again I am normally rather slow at finding all the ins and outs of a codex, and how things work, so most of you probably already know how this weapon works. It took me probably 100 readings to read it correctly,

Grey Knight Questions Answered Part 2

As I had promised this morning, here is the second part of answered questions about Grey Knights. The following is a ton of information not really broken down. It is a copy paste from various forums, mostly "Bolter and Chainsword" and "Heresy Online"of Ciaphas Cain answering questions from the codex.

Grey Knights Questions Answered Part 1

This is a lot of information being put into forums, it seems almost enough to put together the codex in many instances. That is if everything pans out, and the people answering questions on different forums have the correct information. Rumors are rumors though, until I have a codex in my hand.

Tactics of Commorragh - Unique Opportunities Ravager/Razorwing

We all know that the Dark Eldar can blow up tanks, and do it well with most of us take a ravager with three dark lances in our heavy support choice for that part of the role. While I have fielded this vehicle many times and enjoy it, I truly believe the three disintegrator is superior. Now before you get your panties in an uproar, lets look at it.

Forgeworld Cadian Hostile Enviroment Kits (Pics!)

Forgeworld has just set us up with some excellent conversion kits for our Cadians These kits look phenominal. These are available for pre-order now to be dispatched February 28th. Also being released are two sets of Imperial Guard Tank Transfer sheets either in black or in white, and the Malcador Infernus Heavy Tank.

Presence of Faeit "Leaked Grey Knight Pics"

Really, with all the hype of yesterday's post on the leaked Grey Knight pics, especially the Dreadknight, Im wiped. They have really defined the week in the blogosphere. If you have not seen them, they are here, or simply scroll down.

In truth I have been wanting to do an editorial piece once a week. Simply, just a brief rambling about what is being discussed both here and at the local shops. Or possibly what is on my mind, or am working on, but is not worth a full article. This is its first test run, and if it works out, I will find a slot for it once a week, probably towards the end or on the weekend. The Pics of the Week is already on Tuesday's.

Leaked Pics from the Grey Knight Codex (Dreadknight Pic)

Here is the latest leak. They are blurry, and already are making their ways around the internet. It seems that Katie Drake over at heresy online was able to get some pics taken on a webcam. Here you can see the Dreadknight, codex cover, and a nice pic of a Grey Knight Army. Here they are.

The Inquisition Reigns Supreme - Grey Knights

There are lots of rumor compilations running around for the new upcoming Grey Knights codex. Apparently a lot of the rumors are very very similar, and going through them to find the differences and similarities is maddening. The latest talk pretty much just says that the rumors we have been reading are pretty much spot on.

Today we simply have Blood of Kittens confirming the rumors we all saw yesterday on BOLS. Any confirmation really tells us that we are starting to get a good idea of what can be seen in the upcoming codex.

The idea that the Grey Knights are subservient? Well, I have also read other say that they are equals in the upcoming codex. A little war with words, since I am sure Grey Knight  players don't really want to be the right hand of the Inquisition.

Pure Kabalite Dark Eldar 1500 Review

I have always avoided posting reviews for any lists sent to me, but I decided that I would start. First off a couple guidelines.

1. I will not post the senders name. If you want to be known, please post it in the comments.
2. Any rude comments to the poster will be removed. Be constructive.
3. If you have to be a little drama queen do it somewhere else, and take your petty ego with you.
4. All my comments in the response are my opinion and "may be wrong". Please add yours, perhaps we can all learn something

$50 Dollar Hardback Codexes? How about $37.25

The rumor over the last few days was that codexes were all going to go hardcover starting with Orcs and Goblins for Fantasy, and that GW was going to raise the prices for them to $50 similair to other tabletop gamebook prices. Games Workshop now has posted on site the new Orcs and Goblins codex, so here it is.

A New Army for 40k?

I just got home from a quick road trip, and was pouring through emails. I am a couple days behind on email now, so if I haven't responded directly to you, I will do so in the next day. (I try and respond to everything when I get a chance.)

One though caught my attention pointed me to a brief from Spectral Dragon who is always good for a good rumor or two. Possible new armies we might see in warhammer 40k? Well, take a look.

Pics of the Week (Double Feature)

Once again I am on the road today up in Olympia, from the Portland area where I reside. Today is a double feature of Pics of the Week. I believe these are all from a larger single piece of artwork, which I do not have yet. These are pretty good, enjoy.

Pics of the Week

I am not here, however I have a treat for you today. The pics are extremely good today, and above all else, check back later today around 2:00pm PST, as there will be a double feature of Pics of the Week today.

For those new here, Pics of the Week happen every Tuesday where I share from my Warhammer 40k pic library. I collect these all the time from all over, and sharing them is something just fun to do.

Dark Eldar Panic and Mayhem

This is a list I have been fielding. While it is now a couple generations old, its been playtested quite a bit, and it does pretty well. It is a dangerous list, both for you and your opponent, as it was the list that got pummelled after a bunch of failed assaults and bad shooting last weekend. (900pts lost round one, check post earlier today for more info on where it failed). Here it is.

900 Points Gone Round 1 - Dark Eldar Woes

Yea, you read that right. Yesterday I lost 900pts out of 2500 my first round, and I went first.

Grey Knight Psychic Powers and Necrons Arriving When?

Lots of things to hit this morning before I hit the road, so it is all going into one post. We have a list of Paladin upgrades and options, some Grey Knight Psychic powers, and a rumor saying Necrons are being pushed back.

The Necrons getting shoved back, possibly even way back seems a little far fetched, however its out roaming the blog-o-sphere today so here it is. The others add a grain of salt to, since as we get closer the rumors should be getting a little more accurate. Here are the rurmors, Grey Knights first, Necrons a little further down.

Latest Rumors Grey Knights. Excellent Codex Summary Included

The latest rumors on the Grey Knight front including a summary. The large rumor piles are really going nuts with a ton of wishlists, so it was nice to not only see a new rumor hitting the pavement of the blog-o-sphere, but a complete summary as well.

Blood Angel Reinforcements Arrive

They are here today officially. The long awaited Stormraven hits the shelves, along with our new Furioso, and Blood Angel Battleforce. It's been a long wait, and the Stormraven still has an ongoing drama on whether normal codex marines will get them. Drama aside, I believe that we will see a new flurry of these models on the tabletop. They are very detailed, whether you like their form or not.

Testing the Limits of Dark Eldar - Extreme Target Saturation

Early on when you are just starting a codex, preferably before you start buying models, you should be seeing what can be done with your new shiney codex. I do it a lot. By a lot, I mean I probably made and scraped 15-20 lists before I hit the tabletop with my dark eldar. That might of been a little excessive, but I wanted to know what direction I wanted to go, even before the codex hit the shelves.

This is one of those lists. It was done a long time ago with no intentions of ever being fielded. It was simply to see what can be done. Can I fill every slot? Can I do more than that? The answer is yes. Extreme Target Saturation with Dark Eldar.

Dark Eldar Whispers (April)

Not solid defined rumors, but are parts of forum conversation about Dark Eldar releases between two great rumor sources, BramGaunt and Harry. Take it for what it is, as the Dark Eldar rumor mill has been rather quiet. What we thought might be planned for March, could actually be April.

This conflicts with the Grey Knight codex release which we know is happening in April. Not sure I can see them doing both during April, but anything is possible. Of course it is already February and we should be hearing something soon. Either way I am always glad to hear from the both of them. Take all with a grain of salt.
