The May Valhalla is done and gone now. It was an amazing event though, up in the Utah Mountains. In fact we had a rather hard time with internet connections, and it was partially due to the amount of snow fall that hit us Tuesday and Wednesday.
Its time to share some photos, a video tour of the lodge, and let you in on some of the secrets of Valhalla.
No beating around the bush....... First the secrets. The guests up there this time were awesome, thanks to Shawn Gately who's vision of a full on Gamers Retreat is in the making. At the event, were Reece and Frankie of Frontline Gaming, David Lewis and his lovely Fiance Becks from Hawk Wargames (Dropzone Commander), Myself of course, Miranda who is Gamer Girl, reps from Corvus Belli for Infiinity, and a selected set of artists from Blue Table Painting.
Following that...... there were some events that should probably remain unsaid...... but well.... here are some things that should of been left.
-Someone and another someone was doing face down snow angels late one evening while hot tubing. I cant imagine how cold that was after being in the hot tub. (Reece and Shawn). Oops did I mention names.
-A full on Commissar Execution was performed for shooting friendly targets. The criminal was shot at least 7 times (which was 6 too many) and has the welts and bruises to prove it. The event was during a game of Paintball where friendly a friendly target was shot on accident. There is a video or pics of the execution out there somewhere that I would like to get a hold of.
-Bat rep of my game with Shawn will be coming. Dropzone Commander. Yes, I got to play a mission not yet released with the Aegis Defense Laser. Shooting with that monstrous gun is just too much fun........The best part is... we actually were part of some of the final testing of the mission that will be in the expansion book Reconquest.
-An all day 13-16 hour game of Fantasy took place between two teams of two fielding 3000 pts each. Whatever happened in that game was so devastating that 1 of the 4 on the losing side was not seen for the next 12 hours or so. Speculation abound, but I am sure he was not feeling to well.
Literally the event was awesome. There were games going non stop all weekend. Warhammer 40k, Fantasy, Zombicide, Dungeon Lords, Infinity, Dropzone Commander, and much more were at the tables. The food was good, and there was plenty of it, along with non stop gaming discussions for the entire week. I think any time I sat down to talk to anyone... 2-3 hours passed.
I do apologize for the video a little here. It got broken up into two separate days of filming, the second of which was so early that no one was awake yet. This will though give you a good idea of what the place was like.
Here are some pics as well. More to come.
