Of course this is what we want! Lets see how the new Guardian Drones can be used in our regular Warhammer 40,000 games. Don't forget your spindle drones with the new Guardian Drones.

The new Blackstone Fortress expansion, Ascension, includes two deadly Guardian Drones. Yesterday, we took a look at the devastation they can wreak upon the explorers within the Blackstone Fortress itself. Today, we’re focusing on what they can do in games of Warhammer 40,000. They ARE big, and they ARE clever.

Guardian Drones have the Unaligned keyword, which means you can add them to any Warhammer 40,000 army. But precisely what are we adding?

With Toughness 6, and 7 Wounds, these are not going to be easy to take down. Where they really come into their own, though, is with their damage output.

As a Monster, they’ll be able to keep shooting even if they’re in combat, and they’ll also be able to fire those salvo launchers on the move. Our advice? If you see a Guardian Drone on the tabletop, try not to get too close.

They also give a bonus to any nearby Spindle Drones thanks to their Drone Commander ability.

Let’s just remind ourselves what a drone pulse can usually do.

So, that means that we have a Strength 6, AP -3, Damage 4 weapon – that’s going to really leave a mark! Make sure that you add in some Spindle Drones to your army along with their big brother.

If you need a giant, stalking robotic construct for your Warhammer 40,000 army (and frankly who doesn’t?) you’ll want to get some Guardian Drones. They are available in the final Blackstone Fortress expansion, Ascension – pre-order your copy from Saturday.
