Avast me hearties and shiver me timbers, Dreadfleet, the game of naval warfare on the turbulent seas of the Warhammer world, has just sailed into view and is now available to advance order from the website. Before I crack on with today's blog and go overboard with all the nautical puns, it's worth mentioning that this kit is available ONLY WHILE STOCKS LAST. Do you remember when we released Space Hulk a couple of years ago and how quickly that sold out? Well expect the same of Dreadfleet - once it's gone, it's gone, and you won't want to be sitting there when the ship has sailed without one in your hands. I've included a couple of handy links for you to follow, so that you can place your order today. There's even a novella written by Games Developer Phil Kelly to run alongside the game to give you a greater insight into the ripping yarn of Captain Roth's epic quest for revenge. Oh, and don't forget your Plastic Glue, too. These warships do fit together without it, but a dab of Plastic Glue will make your Warships even more robust should you become over-excited and wreak some battle damage of your own. So click on the links below, order your stuff now and come back to find out more about this wondrous seafaring game.
Now that you've filled your treasure chests (né: shopping cart) with all of this jaw-dropping ship-shaped loot, I'll tell you more about it.
Dreadfleet is a standalone boxed game for two (or more) players that includes everything you need to make war on the high seas of the Warhammer world. At your command are two fleets of ships - the Dreadfleet led by the Vampire Count Noctilus, aboard his gargantuan sea-hulk the Bloody Reaver; and the Grand Alliance commanded by the Pirate Captain Jaego Roth, who recently stole the Heldenhammer - the pride of the Imperial Fleet, and one of the largest galleons to ever sail the high seas. After his family's death at the hands of Count Noctilus, Captain Jaego Roth is after revenge and no one will get in his way.
Like everything that comes from the Warhammer world, this game is completely fantastical, with flying Undead galleons, warships crewed by mystical creatures, flying skeletal piranhas, pirate Captains that'd make Errol Flynn blush with inadequacy, and more Cannons, Bolt Throwers and Organ Guns than a Dwarf artillery convention. The scene for this epic confrontation between good (well, alive at any rate) and evil (definitely evil) is the Galleon's Graveyard, an otherworldly place from which Count Noctilus draws his power, and the final destination of Captain Jaego Roth and his mission of retribution.
Within the game there are ten unique warships, each with their own Captain. Each of these warships has their own special rules and abilities, which means you'll have plenty of opportunity to try out new tactics and ways to play. While most of our games are traditionally for two players, the inclusion of ten different ships means that you could potentially have ten people playing in one battle - one as each warship. Essentially there's never been a better excuse to invite over all your friends and family to play a new game. I can just see my nan playing this - I'll give her the Dwarf Ironclad, Grimnir's Thunder, because, just like its Captain, she's old, grumpy and hard as nails. While the basic rules themselves are easy to get to grips with, mastering the tactics and abilities of your fleet will keep you playing for years to come.
Now would probably be a good time to stop waffling and let you have a look at the pictures that we've got of the stunning new models, but first, we caught up with Cap'n Phil Kelly, our resident pirate overlord, to find out more about this stunning game. The video is in English (with a hint of pirate), but even if you're not a native of our stormy island, you can still watch it and look at the stunning warships contained within. We've even added in a couple of 360˚ shots below of the two main protagonists - the Heldenhammer and the Bloody Reaver so that you can have a proper look over them and make sure they're seaworthy. And, if you're like me, count all the guns out of curiosity (there are 180 in case you were wondering, including the mortar batteries).

Captain Jaego Roth, master of the Heldenhammer, is out for revenge! This grizzled old pirate has sailed the seas of the Old World for decades, and has finally tracked his sworn foe to the mythical Galleon's Graveyard. But this enemy is no mere rival privateer - it is none other than the self-styled admiral of the Dreadfleet and lord of the Maelstrom, the legendary Vampire Count Noctilus himself! Roth must unite his fellow pirate lords and lead his own rag-tag fleet into Noctilus's domain, if they are to stand against the Count's legion of the Undead and avoid a watery grave of their own.
