Myrmidons are the second type of Ogroid we’ve seen – where Thaumaturges are magic-zappy, the Myrmidons are spear-stabby. They’re huge and vicious, sporting a bristling nest of hackles and an impressive set of no fewer than six horns!
Let’s see how they play in your games.

Fighting Against – or Alongside – Myrmidons in Warcry

Ogroid Myrmidons are equipped with a massive shield and heavy Gladiator Spear – wielding them with surprising speed and deftness despite their size. In game, this is represented by a high Strength – you’ll be hitting most targets on a 3 or better – and meting out solid damage even without factoring in critical hits.
35 wounds is pretty solid as it is, but the Mrymidon’s Toughness of 6 means they won’t be taking too many hits from anything less than dedicated bruisers, allowing them to swat aside lesser resistance with their stonking great shields. If your opponents DO manage to get some hits in, a mere Double unlocks the Berserk ability, unleashing a flurry of blows to cut down all but the toughest opponents.
The Myrmidon is a fantastic monster hunter and assassin, and a versatile fighter in any situation. You can easily add one to your Chaos warband roster as an ally* for Open and Matched Play, and you can even recruit them during a Narrative campaign quest!
You can read the full rules for allies in the Monsters & Mercenaries expansion, as well as rules to test your mettle against an Ogroid Myrmidon in the Into the Jaws of Death Challenge Battle.

Ogroid Myrmidons in Warhammer Age of Sigmar

Myrmidons are formidable Heroes on the battlefields of the Mortal Realms. Add them to your Slaves to Darkness army as a Leader choice to intimidate nearby Cultists into ignoring battleshock tests.
Their gladiator spear can deliver a barrage of attacks in melee, each with a chance to add extra hits! Myrmidons are fantastic for churning through medium to heavy infantry, and even better when they can supplement their attack by leading a mass of the heavier-hitting Cultists like Untamed Beasts or Spire Tyrants.

Woe betide an opponent who actually tries to kill them in melee, as they only become more effective for the rest of the phase.
Whether you plan on painting this stunning model up for a special project, or running it in your games of Warcry and Warhammer Age of Sigmar, you’ll be able to pre-order the Ogroid Myrmidon from this Saturday.
