Leaked Sisters of Battle Codex Pages (Here are the Pics 4 Pages!) and Repressor Pics

OK, it seems that the pic from a playtest codex is flowing freely through forums now, so here it is. Take it as you will, an April fools joke or not?. Seeing more troop choices and a new transport vehicle is pretty exciting. (Scroll down for the pics from a playtest codex)

For those of you that do not know what a Repressor is, here is a pic of one from Forgeworld. It is basically a rhino chasis with AV11 front and side, AV10 in the rear. It has a transport capacity of 10, with 6 of its passengers able to fire their basic weapon from the fire points on the sides, with 1 std fire point on the top. The tank has a BS4 and is equiped with a Heavy Flamer and storm bolter and comes with some basic Sisters of Battle Upgrades (no gun swaps listed). Repressor information is from forgeworld.

Leaked Sisters of Battle Troop Choices (Battle Sister Squad and Adeptus Arbites Patrol)

I was not going to post on this, but is seems that a leaked copy is floating around now out of a playtest Sisters of Battle codex (at least part of one page). While it could be an April fools joke, it does look authentic. The page posted shows two troops selections, Battle Sister Squad, and Adeptus Arbites Patrol.

Necrons, Tau, and Sisters of Battle- Rapid Release Schedule

Today we have a flurry of rumors regarding three codex and their possible rapid release schedule. Is it really possible that we will see two more codex before the end of 2011, and one early 2012? Well, these rumors say so. These are more than just confirmations, check them out.

Sisters of Battle Confirmed?

The Regional School League Finals at Warhammer World was the source of todays rumors. Apparently one, Wayde Price was speaking (he is from the design studios). Now each source has the time different. Did he say next year, or later this year? Who knows. While this rumor may be out a little out there, something was definetly said. Which leads us to the credibility of other rumors saying that after a Xenos release in the fall (probably Necrons), that Sisters of Battle are next.

Big Bases and The Beasts

OMG. Ok I missed this one somewhere. Perhaps a little closer reading on my part would clarify my thoughts on such an oversight. This is simple, and I discovered it yesterday. All Beasts in your beastmasters unit are on 40mm bases. I was like "What!?"

What difference does this make? Well, that wasn't my initial problem, the problem was I was modeling them together with the intentions of being on small bases. It could also be an issue if I roll horribly on my reserves and too much comes in round two. Beastmaster units take up a ton of space on the tabletop with those big bases (unless you enjoy sitting in nice flamer/template patterns.... live fast live dangerously?). My old warpbeasts are on such tiny bases, I guess I was just blind.

There are advantages as well, but for now it be will be a trip to the store soon to get more bases.

Harlequins in the Dark Eldar Codex

Harlequins are one of those rough subjects for me. They are a unit that I pretty much dismissed from the get go. However I have recently found that they really do give Dark Eldar a unique position in the elite slot. I think to figure out where they stand, and their role, you really have to get on the tabletop. Not just with the harlequins, but with the other units that are also in the elite slots of your list.

Pics of the Week - Sisters of Battle (Costumes)

This week I wanted to do something a little different. There apparently are a lot of women that enjoy, don't mind, or are easily convinced to dress up as Sisters of Battle. So this weeks Pics of the Week is about them. Enjoy.

Release the Monsters. Refinement.

List refinement is something that in reality takes quite awhile. Yes, you can do some quick refinements, but in reality, you should be trying many minor adjustments for an extended time period in order to get a list where you want it.

This is just the beginning of my list refinement. So I am barely scratching the surface of the process I go through with my lists. In fact, this is the part of list building that I enjoy the most. Having a decent base, and throwing in tweaks, new units, and new ideas into it.

Useful Tools for Your Use- Combat Calculator

Its often funny to hear someone complain that their lascannon in their tactical squads are having an off day because they haven't blown up a single vehicle. While that lascannon can blow up a chimera every time it fires, people often think they should be doing more than the statistics say. While I am not a die hard mathhammer fan, I believe mathhammer is a powerful tool. It tells what we should be seeing, so you do not have unrealistic visions on what is happening on the table.

Dark Eldar Nuances

A couple comments, one here on the blog and several lately at the gaming tables has made me pause and reflect back on how I build and create my armies. Now, when it comes to armies I do not intend to be primary armies, I find a build and just buy it. Otherwise I am spending quite a bit of time figuring out how I want to play.

Presence of Faeit- New Codexs Grey Knights, Necrons, Sisters of Battle

For me the week the has been a slow one. I had to miss my Thursday game due to work, but was able to get a pick up game in on Friday. What a game it as too, my first encounter with the new Grey Knights codex. I have to say I am still impressed with three things, their rate of fire (psycannons), venerable dreadnaughts, and nemesis force weapons. It was quite the showing bringing my dark eldar up against them. I believe that with their heavy rate of fire and extra strength ammo, they really do pull an advantage of the expensive fragile units of the Dark Eldar.

Presence of Faeit is a weekly editorial by myself. I generally report during the week what is going on, and today is my day to comment on what exactly it is that I am thinking of.

Necron Rumors. Other Options besides Green?

Today we are getting a new dose of Necron rumors, which is nice, since we have not heard any real ones for a bit. I still think we will be seeing a september/October release for this codex. It is one of the codex's I am extremly looking forward to, not as a player of necrons, but as a new type of army to face on the tabletop. Here are the rumors, please take with salt. Quite a few of these are quite vague, enjoy.

Grey Knights vs Dark Eldar Battle Report

I was able to get a pick up game yesterday, and to my suprise it was against the new Grey Knights. It was a great game, and those Grey Knights are tough. I was fielding a slightly modified version of the list I posted a couple days ago, while my opponent was fielding a list he had already played several times with good success.

Pick Up Games

The ability to walk into a game store to see if there is anyone there to get a game in, and finding it is an incredible tool for the serious and not so serious 40k player. It is a rare thing to have a local store that you can walk into almost at any time and get a game in. Knightfall Games here in Portland is one of those places.

The First Heretic- book review

Amidst the galaxy-wide war of the Great Crusade, the Emperor castigates the Word Bearers for their worship. Distraught at this judgement, Lorgar and his Legion seek another path while devastating world after world, venting their fury and fervour on the battlefield. Their search for a new purpose leads them to the edge of the material universe, where they meet ancient forces far more powerful than they could have imagined. Having set out to illuminate the Imperium, the corruption of Chaos takes hold and their path to damnation begins. Unbeknownst to the Word Bearers, their quest for truth contains the very roots of heresy…

Eldar Phantom Titan on sale at the Forge World Open Day

From Forgeworld today is the announcement of the Eldar Phantom Titan. The first pre-release kit that will be on sale at the Forgeworld Open Day at Warhammer World is the Eldar Phantom Titan. It looks nice, and definetly love the detail going on in the cockpit of the titan.

The Game Before the Game

Before the player going first moves his first model, there is often an entire couple of rounds of action that few people really pay that much attention to. I am not going to be discussing list building. What I am talking about are three main things, Deployment, Infiltration, and Scout Moves, although some codex's have a pregame tricks up their sleeves that also slip into these categories.

This article is a re-post from last year, it is relevant because I keep seeing people pay little attention to pre-game tactics. I didn't want to re-invent the wheel on my subject this morning, so here it is. This is my favorite part of the game, I only wish Dark Eldar had units with Scout and non-mandrake infiltrators.

Dark Eldar Portal List - 2500

This is a 3 Portal list utilizing several tactics that I have talked about here in the past. I have to work very close to game time today, so it will be quite the pressure to even get there.

Dark Eldar Relevancy

Very often when I see Dark Eldar lists there is one re-occurring theme, the troop choices are irrelevant. What I am getting down to is that the small MSU troop units are cut down to the point where they are completely inefficient on the table top. I have played most of my games with these styles of units, bare bones, minimized, with a single blaster carried by a Raider.

Codex Release Schedule- The Future is Nigh

Ever wonder where your outdated codex falls in line for an update? Yea, we all do. Well here is a preliminary that seems to fit into the what we have been hearing (at least with the most recent and soon to come codexs). A list like this takes us out a couple years. Remember to always take things like this with a grain of salt.

Sisters of Battle Hint in the April White Dwarf

The rumors regarding Sisters of Battle just keep popping up. Everywhere in fact. Since it is only natural that Sisters of Battle be in the near future after a Grey Knights codex, it doesn't surprise me much. What I am hoping is that we soon get another solid unit rumor, something of substance that gives us that feeling they are really on the horizon.

Pics of the Week

Trying to keep up, with Pics of the Week. This weeks theme is black and white artwork. There are quite a few here, and many more that I just did not get in. These are from places deep in my library of 40k artwork, and I was hoping that these were not pics in codex's. I really do not remember though, but have fun with them. Black and White artwork can really bring out a different feel which fits the 40k universe really well.

New Grotesque Model (pics) - Dark Eldar (just updated with new pics)

There is an image floating around, it is a must see. It is an awesome picture of a Grotesque model (not a GW mini). I was amazed to see it, and it looks very good, perhaps a little skinny, but hey what would I know of a giant lobotomized growth drug enhanced body.

Sisters of Battle Rumored Release - within 18 months?

Today we get more information, and much more reliable information about a Sisters of Battle Codex release. After yesterdays (not very reliable rumor) it is nice to get something a little bit closer to what we have heard in the past regarding the Sisters of Battle returning to the tabletop.

Dark Eldar Sneak Peek for June Releases

I almost forgot to post this. This arrived in my email early Monday morning, so here is the sneak peek at Dark Eldar June releases. There are a couple images released today from Games Workshop for the Dark Eldar.

Here is what they released today.
More Dark Eldar models are being released in June and, once again, we're able to offer you an exclusive sneak preview of what's to come... Check out today's Astronomican article for another exclusive image as well as more details on Dark Eldar.

Sisters of Battle/ Daemon Hunters. Bad Rumor. But what the Heck.

This one was passed around. First off it is a horrible rumor, and doesnt pass any muster.

Why am I posting it? I dont really know, since I normally just ignore rumors like this one. I suppose I am posting simply because I found it kind of funny. (yes, my humor is dry).

This is the most vague and obviously not a real rumor since most of  it could apply to a ton of different armies out there. The rest is common sense and the pdf thing seems just kind of thrown in there.

Presence of Faeit - Demuirg (Squats), Dark Eldar Wave #2, and Signing up for the Grey Knights

What a week it was. Last week was a huge week. Just the news of the Demiurg itself was a shock to hear. Not only did we get that, but we heard rumors of a possible schedule of Dark Eldar releases as well. It made for a good week in the 40k side of things. We also had releases from Forgeworld and for the Grey Knights. Jokaero (space monkeys) also made their waves, and at Game Night this week (which is the reason I am a day behind) there was a lot of talk about space monkey lists.

Presence of Faeit is a weekly editorial by myself. I generally report during the week what is going on, and today is my day to comment on what exactly it is that I am thinking of. It normally runs on Sunday's, however I am a day behind.

The Black Library Discusses the White Scars

There is just something about videos that really gets to the meat of our hobby. The videos we had with the release of the Dark Eldar were fantastic. I wish they would do a set for the Grey Knights. Regardless, today we get a video with Andy Hoare talking about White Scars. Check it out.

Andy Hoare talks about White Scars

The chaps at BLTV caught up with Andy Hoare to discuss his recent novel Savage Scars, which features the fearsome White Scars, and ask him how he approached writing these feral natured Space Marines.

This is the second time that Andy has donned white power armour and channelled the spirit of Jaghatai Khan. His previous book The Hunt for Voldorius, (a Space Marine Battles novel) sees the White Scars battle the Tau.

Grey Knight Grand Masters- Grand Strategy (Cool Pic)

There really are two things that have made me really want to jump on a Grey Knight army. One is the Inquisitorial Henchmen as troops (which is disgustingly fun), the other is a power of the Grey Knight Grand Masters, Grand Strategy.

Found this pic from the codex browsing around in google Grey Knight images. It is the Grey Knight Grand Master from the codex. Nice Image.

So Lets take a look at the special ability of the Grey Knights Grand Master called Grand Strategy.

Eldar Lynx Heavy Grav-Tank and Shadow Spectre Exarch Release

Forgeworld today releases new Eldar units that are now available for pre-order and due to arrive March 28th. The Eldar Lynx Heavy Grav-Tank with two weapon configurations, and the Shadow Spectres Exarch.

Conceptual Design of the Beasts - Dark Eldar Sketches

Jes Goodwin is an excellent sculptor and we have all been impressed with the latest codex line, the Dark Eldar. Just the models themselves have brought tons of players into the Dark Eldar folds, and will continue to do so as the rest of the Dark Eldar miniature line comes out. We have a lot to look forward to over the next several months.

Dark Eldar 2nd Wave Release Schedule (April through June)

Here are a set of two rumors on the release schedule for the Dark Eldar 2nd wave. Games Workshop has already let us in on the fact that more models are on their way, but what they left out was any details. In fact they gave us no details at all, except that something was coming. So earlier yesterday these appeared on the ole rumor highway to answer some of the hanging questions.

What is a Jokaero Weaponsmith?

OK, what are these things. There appearance has caused a small outcry about space monkeys or  space orangutans. This is not rumor, as they are already up for pre-order.

The Next 5 Codex's are Almost Done and Demiurg (Squats) Pics

One of the obvious reasons we keep seeing so much conflicting rumors about what is next makes perfect sense with the following rumor today. While this rumor is not new this morning, it does open up the possibilities. Also check out the Demiurg sculpt above, and the sketch that is posted below of the Demiurg.

Table Etiquette - Be Brief and Polite.

Of course these circumstances happen. Over all I am pretty friendly at the gaming table with my opponent, and the people that are cycling up to talk to me. This happened last week, so I figured it was time to throw it out into the open.

Jokaero Weaponsmith and Castellan Crowe Available for Pre-Order Now

Just in, both of these models are now up for pre-order, and will arrive on April 16th. A lot of talk of Jokaero have pushed around but both are now available. It is nice to see more Grey Knight models being released so quickly. Here is the link. Games Workshop

Jokaero Weaponsmith - $12.25
Castellan Crowe - $16.50

Games Workshop Getting it Right- Powered Armoured Grey Knights

People always complain and whine about the things GW does wrong. Here is one they did right, the new Grey Knight box is an amazing versatile box set. From it you can make an amazing 4 different unit types from the new codex. It comes with a huge number of options and 118 components. While there are other box sets that can form duplicate units, being able to do 4 from one box is very cool.

Grey Knights are something that I am seriously considering as I continue to pour over the codex. The flexibility and ease of how to make this army is one of its luring appeals to me.

Pics of the Week

This week the Tau have peeked my curiousity, so most of the pics are Tau related with some standard Imperium thrown in. Pics of the Week is my weekly post dedicated to the art of Warhammer 40k. Most of it comes from the depths of my archives.

Demiurg Sightings (Can the Tau bring back Squats?) Tau Rumors

OK, first I thought it a joke. In fact it might still be. However, it was time to chime in and drop the line on the latest talk of the Demiurg (Squats or Space Dwarves).

What we have here are rumors declaring that Squats (Demiurg) will be making an appearance with the Tau. Now at first I was dismissive. I even laughed a bit. However, the more I read, the more plausable the idea really became. Then someone mentioned that the Tau do have dealings with the Demiurg, and that their ships are allies in Battlefleet Gothic.

What I have here is a couple things. The most relative posts on the subject as of when I was typing this out, of which are several people that have dropped us very accurate rumors in the past. Lastly I posted a couple paragraphs from the Battlefleet Gothic pdf on the GW website that talks about the Demiurg.

Have fun, and don't forget the salt.

Incoming Dark Eldar: 2nd Wave On It's Way

Games Workshop today announced Incoming Dark Eldar. We all knew they were coming. The rurmors put it somewhere before June, and it looks like they were correct. The Games Workshop post today put out the most vague "we are about to release something" article. Regardless, we already have a good idea of what is coming from our various rumor sources.

March 14th Faeit 212

It was one year ago that this blog started. It didnt start off with a bang, or anything grand. It didnt start off with even a single reader. I had started the blog after just getting into reading others. For some time I was reading Stelek's work, reading the Bell of Lost Souls, a few others occasionally and reading forums. So really you can say that they started my inspiration and opened me up to this sort of media.

Presence of Faeit - 6th Edition, Reading through the Grey Knights Codex, and Dark Eldar Choices

This week, we have Grey Knight black boxes hitting stores, rumors of 6th edition, and the unveiling of many Grey Knight models including the already infamous space monkey. It was definitely a busy week, and through it all, getting in a couple games, work, a movie, and kids, I am a little exhausted.

Presence of Faeit is a weekly editorial by myself. I generally report during the week what is going on, and today is my day to comment on what exactly it is that I am thinking of.

The Heroics of Vulkan vs 3 Dark Eldar Talos Pain Engines

Every once in awhile, a game throws down some of the most cool visual cinematics that only the best of Hollywood could throw down. This is the reason I enjoy warhammer so much, because I am a visual person, and this is how I see the game as it is played. Yes, I probably analyze my tactics, list, and dice too much, but that is how we improve our game.

This really comes from me getting my butt kicked with my latest list, but hey, I played a good opponent with a strong list, and things fell his way. This post isn't about the list I fielded or my opponents, or the tactics used, but how cool it was that Vulkan He'stan was able to turn the tide of the battle singlehandedly. You'll read this, and say wow, how did manage that?

A special thanks to Randy, owner of Rival Fantasy Games for putting up with us, and staying open late to get in our game. I know he was tired, and ready to go home, and we lost track of the time.

Transporting Dark Eldar Models

There are very few ways to transport Dark Eldar models well. I was recently asked how I do it, and thus far I have not had to move them very far. The best method of storage and transport is by far with Battlefoam, however, if you can get a hold of some foam, you can create your own custom methods of carrying them. I have some foam for computer software that I am currently cutting up and fitting into totes that I got from Home Depot.

Dark Eldar models are just tough to tote around. Here is a few pics from battlefoam, and if you have any good suggestions on how to transport Dark Eldar models (raiders and such) please comment.

Here is a link to battlefoam. http://battlefoam.com/

6th Edition. Rumors of its Impending Arrival.

This is not the first time we have heard that 6th edition is on its way relatively soon. However, it is yet another rumor source that is saying it is coming, and sooner than most people think.

Personally, it was not a surprise to me, and was a big letdown on the hype drummed up for a major bombshell of rumor. I wanted something new. I suppose the armies chosen might be considered new, but the time frame is not.

Please remember that rumors are rumors. Take this with more salt than is healthy to consume.

Compiled Wargear, Weapons and Psychic Powers (Updated Grey Knights)

Continuation of our Grey Knight coverage is getting down to the details. Now that we are getting really close, these are supposedly from people that have the real codex at hand. Some of these are really crazy. Remember that they are rumors until we actually have it in hand. Some of the things that stand out for me, are psycannons range being reduced to 24".  Always remember that rumors are rumors, and take everything a slight grain of salt.

I want to give out a word of sympathy to the people in Japan affected by the massive earthquake and tsunami. The damage is tremendous. I am catching myself up on what is going on there this morning.

Castellan Crowe and Jokaero Weaponsmith Pics (Grey Knights)

Not quite sure how authentic atm, but check these out. Found them out floating the blogosphere and on Heresy Online. Take a look. Jokaero Weaponsmith is not at all what I was expecting.

What's in that Black Box and More Grey Knights (pics)

Ever wondered what the heck is in that box? Hopefully someone can confirm the pic is the full contents of the box. For many of you, you have a GW store in your area. Others like me, would have to drive for 3 hours (driving like a mad man) to reach one. The stores around here are usually a little late on getting their copies of codexs (not always, Knightfall Games does the best in these parts), so your left in the Portland area scrounging for information. Don't worry, we will get access soon enough.

Here are some cool pics that have been released as well. That Dreadknight is huge compared to the Daemon Prince. Take a look.
