In our final Apocalypse Faction Focus,* we’re going out with a bang – a big, earth-shaking bang – as we’re taking a look at Titans! Not just the god-machines of the Adeptus Mechanicus, mind, but everything that’s a towering, Titan-grade war machine (or bio-titan war machine) of death.
Imperium – Warbringer Nemesis Titan
It would be easy to choose the Warlord Battle Titan as our top pick for the Imperium, but it’s probably the combination of ‘Warbringer’ and ‘Nemesis’ in the title that pips it for this monstrous god-machine. Bridging the gap between the Reaver- and Warlord-class Battle Titans, the Warbringer Nemesis Titan strikes an impressive silhouette – especially with the enormous Nemesis quake cannon mounted atop its back! Unsurprisingly, this weapon hits like a ton of (highly explosive) bricks, making it an excellent choice for bombarding targets your opponent may think are sheltered safely behind their lines.

Chaos Warlord Battle Titan

We couldn’t skip it twice. Not with its 36 Wounds and 4+ Save characteristic, which is unrivalled by any other unit in the game. The Warlord Titan is further protected by its Warlord Void Shields ability and has a huge choice of mouth-wateringly destructive weapon options, the top pick of which has to be the Belicosa volcano cannon. We mentioned earlier that the best way to protect your shiny Titan is to pick on enemy units that can threaten it – if the unit in question is a vehicle, it’s as good as dead with this weapon at your disposal.

Asuryani – Phantom Titan

The majestic Phantom Titan gets its name, in part at least, from the shimmering distortion fields that blur its form to thwart enemy fire. In battle, this means that it always counts as obscured despite its enormous size, inflicting a -1 penalty to your opponent’s hit rolls when they target your prized Titan. The Phantom is also blessed with some formidable weapon options, but one of the most effective combinations is the D-bombard and wraithglaive, as both of these deadly weapons have the Apocalyptic Destroyer ability.
What’s more, as a Super-heavy unit, your Phantom Titan will be able to fight with both weapons while in close combat for a potential damage output of 16 large blast markers!

T’au Empire – Manta Super-heavy Dropship

Despite being a dropship first and foremost, the Manta is nonetheless a serious force to be reckoned with. In fact, its Power Rating of 154 matches that of the Chaos Warlord Battle Titan! Not only is it coated in guns – seriously, it’s armed with a pair of utterly devastating heavy rail cannons, six long-barrelled ion cannons and no fewer than 16 long-barrelled burst cannons… and that’s not even all! – but it can safely transport an entire Detachment within its cavernous interior.

Hierophant Bio-titan

The Hierophant Bio-titan towers over even the largest Tyranid models – in fact, its legs can comfortably fit any of them beneath their span. This enormous alpha-beast, like many Tyranid bio-forms, is best suited to getting into combat with the enemy as soon as possible – especially as its Super-heavy status means that the Hierophant can make Shoot and Fight actions in the same turn. Its lashwhip pods enable it to make a whopping total of 18 Attacks in melee. Against vehicle targets, you may prefer to forgo sheer weight of attacks for the combination of 4+ wound rolls and the Destroyer ability from its gargantuan scything talons.
Another reason to send this terrifying beast into combat as soon as possible is that each time it picks up a blast marker from an incoming attack, it stands a good chance of returning the favour to one of the enemy units it’s fighting!

Apocalypse is available to pre-order now – and hits stores worldwide tomorrow
