It’s time for a rules preview! The two Kill Team Starter Sets that are up for pre-order tomorrow – Theta-7 Acquisitus and Starn’s Disciples – each include a brand-new character for their respective Faction. Not only that but in their assembly guide booklets, a hidden treasure can be found – their Warhammer 40,000 datasheets and matched play points, meaning that you’ll be able to field these awesome new characters in larger games as well as in Kill Team!
As promised in our preview articles earlier in the week, we’ve got a sneak preview of their Warhammer 40,000 rules for you right now…
Tech-Priest Manipulus
As a senior member of the Cult Mechanicus, a Tech-Priest Manipulus is an HQ choice for the Adeptus Mechanicus. As in Kill Team, a Manipulus has a solid profile, including a 2+ Save and even a 5+ invulnerable save that will help to keep them alive if engaged directly:
Even should that be the case, a Manipulus is no slouch in combat, and can hit back hard with their Omnissian staff (not to mention an additional D6 attacks from their mechadendrites).
A Tech-Priest Manipulus acts as a nexus of motive force, able to bolster the agents of the Machine God through their mastery of galvanic fields. This handy ability can be used either to increase their speed or enhance the range of their munitions.
A Manipulus is skilled in all manner of machine repair, not only healing D3 wounds per turn but capable of repairing nearby allies as needed.
If you’re after a multipurpose character to join the ranks of your Adeptus Mechanicus, you’ll want to make sure you pre-order Theta-7 Acquisitus tomorrow to get a Tech-Priest Manipulus of your own.
Kelermorph
A Kelermorph is not a leader within the Genestealer Cults so much as an inspirational figure who naturally draws others of their kind to their side through heroic deeds in battle. As such, a Kelermorph is an Elites choice within the army and boasts an impressive profile.
A Kelemorph is armed with a cultist knife for melee, but that’s the last place they should be – they’re natural born gunfighters, equipped with no fewer than three liberator autostubs with which to shoot up those who would stand against their kin.
The quicksilver reflexes that make a Kelermorph such a deadly marksman also help to keep them alive, granting a 5+ invulnerable save, and enable them to pick out enemy leaders even amid the carnage of battle.
As if a Kelemorph’s ability to blaze away with anything up to 12 shots wasn’t already awesome enough, in the highly likely event that they gun down an enemy in the process, they’ll inspire nearby cultists with their dashing display of skill and derring-do.
If you’re looking to bolster your Genestealer Cults uprising with one of these gunslinging heroes, be sure to grab yourself a set of Starn’s Disciples when they’re up for pre-order tomorrow.
