Heroes are Born from Conflict on the Gaming Table. You Create their Heroics from Gameplay

Heroes and Characters are born the games you play in the Genesys Projectd from exchanging out your Primary Mission reward to create a character. Since rewards can be held for later, this allows you to really create a Hero from a model or squad that did something epic or cool on the tabletop. The best part is that you get to customize the character in some very unique ways........

In-house playtesters have really come up with some very unique characters through testing, and very creative ways to for them to operate within their faction and armies. Ive been more than pleasantly surprised to see this happen, as heroes are not just a model with better characteristics, but with unique traits altered and taken through gameplay.

During Creation you increase a single characteristic for a point value dependent upon level of the class he belongs to.
Afterwards you may take Hero Traits, (note that each Life Domain has specific Hero traits that may differ from other Domains.)

Here are some of the options your Hero can take when being created... and remember that you can take additional hero traits later on after future games to "level" him up and perhaps become something of legends.

Hero Traits (for Humanoids)
  • Exceptionally Gifted: Modify an existing ability the model already has by 1. This really pushes a model's ability X to new levels inaccessible by any other method.
  • Lucky: Re-roll a single die per game. This die roll does not need to be one directly involved with the character (note that this may be the only re-roll in the game)
  • Inspirational Effects: Grants Morale, Martial, or Range bonuses within the models Command Radius. A great way to to create a hero that can inspire your forces to new heights.
  • Visionary: Grants bonuses to Mission selection or Primary Mission Rewards. This allows you to hone and focus your mission awards.
  • Special Abilities: Allows the Character to select a new trait not counting towards the maximum number of Class Traits a model may have.
  • Artifact: Modifies a piece of equipment the character has, increasing a selected attribute by 1. This can create and make more powerful items and artifacts.
Heroes can operate on their own or join squads.

As you can tell, Heroes bring a new level of game to the tabletop, and with a few open ended traits really allows for your heroes to do some amazing things. Some of the more clever ones Ive seen recently.....
A hero Necromancer taking Forbidden Knowledge to unlock Death Magic and traits for his faction.
A low level hero becoming exceptionally gifted to Command his forces for small games.
A sniper able to disrupt enemy forces and infiltrate deep onto the battlefield.
A shapeshifter able to appear on the table within an enemy squad

Its important to know though that as Heroes gain levels they also may become limited from playing low point value games. Point levels of game play only allow up to a specific level of Heroes in total. For example.
250pt games allows 1 levels of Heroes
500pt games allows 2 levels of Heroes
1,000pt games allows 3 levels of Heroes
1,500pt games allow 4 levels of Heroes
2,000pt games allow 5 levels of Heroes
2,5000+ games allow 6 levels of Heroes

In larger games you may take multiple Heroes equaling up to your maximum level of Heroes for the game, or a much more advanced Hero.
