Forgeworld Price Increases for North America... With Faster Shipping

Ive gotten quite a few emails this morning now that the new pricing over on Forgeworld for North American customers is live. Of course with their new Warehouses, being able to pay in your own currency, faster shipping, things were possibly looking up. There was a lot of excitement when this was first announced.... and a lot of people telling us we were screwed in the comments.

So with that.... lets check out the actual pricing of a few of Forgeworld's miniatures and compare them.

Shipping Costs are the only thing I have not considered here, which are now flat rates instead of a percentage of your order. Normally if you save up and buy enough, shipping costs are free, or wait for Forgeworld to have a special shipping rate.

Lets start with what Forgeworld has as their most popular minatures

1. Astraeus Super-heavy Tank
UK Site £220     Conversion to USD $283.98
US Site $340     $56 Difference

2. Mars Pattern Warlord Titan Body

UK Site £930     Conversion USD $1200.46
US Site $1,440   Holy Cow...... $240 Difference

3. Leviathan Dreadnought with Cyclonic Melta Lance and Siege Claw
UK Site £72     Conversion to USD $92.94
US Site $112    Nearly $20 Difference!

4. Slate Merdena & Macula, Orlock Hired Gun
UK Site £20    Conversion to USD $25.82
US Site $31     $5 Difference

5. Space Wolves Legion Contemptor Dreadnought with Power Claw and Heavy Bolter
UK Site £54     Conversion to USD 69.70
US Site $84     $14 Difference

OK, lets look at one of them that is on my current list to purchase
5. Lorgar Primarch of the Word Bearers
UK Site £60     Conversion to USD $77.45
US Site  $93     $15 Difference

So what does this mean? I know that this is nothing to complain about as our Australian Cousins have been paying out of control prices for some time over there for GW product.

What this means for me personally is that Forgeworld products just took a nose dive on my to buy list, not completely gone... but there are some other companies making models I will be looking at again.

A lot of readers are saying that we are now paying convention prices, and even thought I was hopeful that was not going to be the case for what is most likely GW's largest market, a lot of readers on this site were very much correct when these changes were first introduced.

Lets take a look at what the Warhammer Community site is saying about the recent changes.

A couple weeks ago, we gave you a heads-up about some incoming changes to shipping from Forge World. With faster shipping, better service, new options for payment and prices in your local currency, we’re sure you’ve been counting the days – which is why we’re very happy to announce that today, these changes are live!
If you’ve been waiting to grab some models from Forge World (like that Contemptor Dreadnought you’ve been eyeing up), well now’s your chance – check out the changes for yourself.

To celebrate, we’re offering free shipping at a much lower threshold than usual – any order over $120 USD, or local equivalent, will have be eligible for free shipping!
So if you pick up anything bigger than a Land Raider, you’ll get it sent to you at no cost. If you’ve been looking for an excuse to get a Forge World order in, this is it – but hurry, this offer is only available for a limited time!

Even after this offer is over, all shipping will be charged at a flat rate rather than a percentage cost of your order – meaning whatever size your purchase, you’ll find shipping much simpler
And that’s not all – if you’re based in the US or Canada, you can now take advantage of our fully operational US warehouse. This means that you can expect your orders to arrive faster than ever before – in a matter of days, rather than weeks.
Pricing in local currency, meanwhile, means you can easily work out how much anything costs without mucking about with a currency converter – as well as not having to worry about conversion fees for banks abroad.
We’ve also taken the opportunity to improve our service worldwide, so even if you’re not based in the US or Canada, you can still expect faster shipping times.
