Faeit's Tarot: Dark Eldar, The Endtimes and More.

Its been a busy week, and the releases keep coming, as well as the rumors pushing Dark Eldar to the forefront. I am very excited for Dark Eldar, and just waiting for the pre-orders to come up for the new releases this time around. Inside rumors this week include a lot of talk about the Endtimes, Dark Eldar, even the Inquisition and Chaos Marines.

Of course I am a day late on my overview of the week, but there were more rumors coming in yesterday and today that pushed this back.

The Latest Rumors and News
Dark Eldar

via an anonymous source on Faeit 212 *****
The cover of the next white dwarf reveals a new looking Haemonculi with long hair down one side, but may be a conversion. There are two wracks flanking him with more wracks in the background.

Also on the cover........
Symphony of Pain
A new Minigame Inside

New Dark Eldar!
Beware the Flesh-Shapers
Beneath the Dark City, the Haemonculi Perform their Dread Art

The Haemonculi has long hair which falls on his left and he looks more of an Archon with the body of a Haemonculous. Perhaps a new Ancient Haemonculous model. While the body and cloak look similar, there are differences, and the curved blade is in its right hand, with the splinter pistol in its left. There is a talon of sorts, that looks like a raptors talon, on a lower right appendage.

You may remember last year I was being very vague about some 'radical changes' in a thread about 9th edition.

Back at the start of the year, in one of my first posts of the new year I said this:

I don't think they are trying to destroy it.
I suspect they will be trying their hardest to breath new life into it.
We are not seeing the "End times" for Warhammer just yet.

Did you see what I did there?
The clues are always there fellas.

So I first heard about all this last autumn?
I was told 2014 would be "Year zero" for Warhammer.

Had no idea what that meant at first but if you Google your way to the wikipedia you get this:

The term Year Zero (Khmer: ឆ្នាំសូន្យ chhnam saun), applied to the takeover of Cambodia in April 1975 by the Khmer Rouge, is an analogy to the Year One of the French Revolutionary Calendar. During the French Revolution, after the abolition of the French monarchy (September 20, 1792), the National Convention instituted a new calendar and declared the beginning of the Year I. The Khmer Rouge takeover of Phnom Penh was rapidly followed by a series of drastic revolutionary de-industrialization policies resulting in a death toll that vastly exceeded that of the French Reign of Terror.

The idea behind Year Zero is that all culture and traditions within a society must be completely destroyed or discarded and a new revolutionary culture must replace it, starting from scratch. All history of a nation or people before Year Zero is deemed largely irrelevant, as it will (as an ideal) be purged and replaced from the ground up.

It was made clear to me that this was what we were talking about for warhammer.
Everything that existed being completely destroyed (or discarded) and something new replacing it from scratch ... purged and replaced from the ground up.

I hinted in various posts that they would be getting rid of the existing timeline, the existing map, etc. (In an effort to soften the blow. )

I am going to get this a bit wrong because I honestly can't remember where I heard it but to confirm the three book rumour .... I did hear the "End times" were going to be spread over three books.

Nagash was the first, followed by Malekith followed by Glotkin

- Stopping development of WHFB altogether .... I heard it was discussed clearly they decided to try something else.
- Squatting several key armies .... I heard it was discussed and what survives may not be recognisable in 9th
- Dropping ranked units for skirmishing round based individuals .... I heard it was discussed.

And other doomsday scenarios ...

Urrrm, the whole thing is, in fact, a Doomsday scenario
What I am expecting is most of the End times releases in the next six months .... I bit of a breather and 9th edition six months after that ... July/August 2015

Whatever 9th is it will be set in the grimmest, darkest post apocalyptic Warhammer fantasy world yet.

The Inquisition and Chaos Marines

via Voice of the Chaos Gods ***
The inquisition will soon get a printed codex with a small release after being dropped from the GKs;

-1 week release
-3 Blisters
-1 Box
-Codex
-No suppliment within the limited edition

If all hardcover books for 40k are published, GW wants to use the time more for "1-week special" releases like suppliments with new Models (beside fantasy armybooks and end times) until possible a new CSM codex comes at the summer.

No Rumors or News Beyond this Point
I am rating what I personally think of the rumors (not the source). This is based off of behind the scenes knowledge, what different sources are saying, and general logic and guesswork. It goes like this. Remember that a source is often just letting us know what he knows or has seen...... Nothing more, nothing less.

5 Stars. If its got a 5 star rating, Although still rumor, its only so because nothing has been officially announced (These are on the level of Natfka either has seen this personally, or the Rumor Information is just undeniable and confirmed )

4 Stars is a very reliable rumor, and comes from someone I generally know to be in a good place, or the rumors match up well. These are not facts!, and I often have information that at least lets know the information comes from something real and solid. These are still rumors, and even great sources can have some information wrong on occasion. (think hastings-like, or close to that).

3 Stars, is a decent or average rumor. Should be looked at with some truth in it. (most will fall here). Rumor based off of real information, discussion, or we do not know where it falls. (Like I said, most will fall here, and this is the baseline.) In general, unless I know a lot more information about the rumor, it will fall here.

2 stars. Most likely speculation, but sound OK. Every once in a while these have something (think Natfka doesn't really think this is happening, but ya never know)

1 Star. Way out in left field, and I feel that these are probably just wild speculation or made up. (think whoa, where the hell did this come from, and generally posted up because its fun, or Natfka was bored)
