What's On Your Table: Freebootaz!‏

First up tonight is a good selection of Ork conversions for Matt's Freebootaz!‏

Hi Natfka/Gary,
Long time reader, first time contributor. I just wanted to share a few Orky projects I have been working on recently since the codex dropped and rekindled my love for our green brethren.

Although I enjoy the odd game I find the real pull for me is the creative aspects of our hobby and Orks are the perfect canvas for this - bold, comical and no two inventions look the same so whatever goes!

First is my current project - the Green Baron, a biplane dakkajet with a grot co-pilot. For a bit of narrative the grot is the real Baron, his burly Ork master doesn't realise the only thing he controls are the gun's triggers (which he holds down continuously)!
It's a simple dakkajet with plasticard wings (a couple of layers stacked, draw on a panel design and scrape these lines out using a craft knife add some 3D texture to the wing, liquid greenstuff for the rivets), supported with wooden dowels. The wheels are from a fantasy cannon set.

Next up are the Freeboota Warbosses on foot (regular and mega armoured) and on a custom-built bike:

The 'eavy armour variant is a simple conversion from a regular boss, with a deffcopta blade for a sword and greenstuffed hilt, hat, beard and cape. One of the legs was replaced with a cut-down screw for that 'eaten-by-a-squig-shark' pirate look. His less than faithful squig-parrot, Brian, has greenstuffed wings around a paperclip skeleton to give them strength

The mega armoured warboss was an old killa kan body with deff dread legs (padded out with greenstuff) and the obligatory greenstuff hat. Claw was from again a deff dread and the twin-linked shoota was made from two big shootas out of the AOBR set. Chains added to bind the boss' arms into his contraption.

The warboss on bike was the most work - the main part of the bike is a cut-down deffkopta, the front of the bike is made from a battlewagon ram's side sections, an empire greatcannon and a old chaos dwarf deff rolla. There is a plasticard back section with trukk wheels, supporting a battlewagon cannon mast and a green-stuff flag. Final detail is a greenstuff anchor on a chain (supported by an unfolded paperclip) with a grot hanging on for dear life!

The last conversion is a painboy on bike with his grot orderly. The side car is made from the grot's battlewagon turret turned sideways, a plasticard prow and a space marine bike wheel. The keg on the back is from an ogre kit and the scrubs he wears are greenstuffed. By magnetising the barrel connecting the bike and sidecar, its actually detachable.

Phew! That's quite a wall of text so if you use this at all please feel free to cut-down and edit it where you see fit :)
Matt
