I had thought that on the Games Workshop site, there was very little model selections for troops a few weeks back. It appears today that the section is loaded with quite a bit of metal. Which I find a little odd. Either way its a good sign that these models are not going anywhere.
Also note that Stormtroopers are under troops there now. Quite possibly we will see rules returning for Gaunts Ghosts and Colonel Schaeffer's Last Chancers.
