Presence of Faeit- A Grain of Salt, Dark Eldar Pics and Leaks

Wednessday we had finally gotten the big bang, Dark Eldar pre-releases. This pretty much dominated my Warhammer 40k week, however other rumors came and went. The highly unpopular Sisters of Battle rumors pushing them into a White Dwarf pdf army, and we had Games Workshop AU deliver some answers to the Grey Knights codex.

Presence of Faeit is a weekly editorial by myself. I generally report during the week what is going on, and today is my day to comment on what exactly it is that I am thinking of.

Dark Eldar Release:
About mid week my morning woke up with a Bang. This should be all caps, BANG! New Dark Eldar pre-orders. This really was the biggest thing that happened all week. We had both the pre-orders and the Razorwing pic leaks to contend with, all in a couple days of each other.

The new Razorwing Jetfighter is an amazing model, even if it is a little smaller than I had thought. Regardless the design is nice. The same goes for the Talos/ Cronos. It was much more of a model than I was expecting. Down the road I may even get them. Tons of parts. They would make great conversions. Even the scourges, which were a little more basic than I had thought, are nice when you get down close to them to check out the details. I do wish the bat/ feathered wings came in extra sets so you could choose which ones you wanted to go with. Find another Dark Eldar player and so some swaps perhaps.

We still have the last part of June to see what is coming in. Is something else on the horizon? Hopefully we will find this week. Yea, I am talking about the Haemonculus and Grotesques. These would be nice to see, but I am not holding my breath. If they come out in metal though, it will sure shine the light/ or black out depending on viewpoint,  our metal to resin rumors. PS. I know wracks should also be mentioned, but I am a little disappointed in wracks lately, so they were ignored on purpose.

A grain of salt.
I have been sitting on this one for a bit, and with every rumor pause at the keyboard since receiving this email. The sender's name is not included, he can Identify himself if he chooses in the comments (my policy unless someone previously told me they don't mind their name attached).

I love your blog, but I wanted to provide one small bit of feedback. You use the phrase "take with a grain of salt" frequently when talking about rumors regarding upcoming codices or model lines. When you start talking about rumors that are particularly hard to substantiate or believe, you mention using lots of salt, in an attempt to suggest that the rumor is hard to take. I don't think you're saying what you think you're saying!

The phrase "take with a grain of salt" means that the statement or idea has such little substance, that all you need to season it is a grain of salt. I.e., if you had a whole pot of mashed potatoes, you'd use more salt than you would if it were just a single serving.

my response
Hey, thanks for the feedback. I think at first, quite a few months back, I was trying to be humorous and keeping it light. However, I would prefer to keep the grammar and concepts clear to avoid confusion. With language I tend to be on the very liberal side, with the slight tendency to become very habitual with grammatical errors.

As for "take with a grain of salt", a more descriptive phrase would help tremendously. Off the top of my head I cannot think of one, but that doesn't mean it is outside the realm of possibility. If you have any suggestions, I would be more than open to them.

I posted this, namely because I would like some feedback.  Keep it the way I have been doing it, or find something else more descriptive?

Dark Eldar Models
My own Dark Eldar army took some good advances this week. I think I moved through about 30 warriors, and have another 10 part way through. I also got Vect going well, and I am currently looking for a better end to his Scepter before finishing the model. I consider that a good week in the way of painting and working on models. My plans are pretty much to get the other 10 warriors done, and then move up to something a little bigger, like a Raider.

I will definitely post up some pics. I need to run to art media and see what is available though. I would like to do some detail graphics, but am kind of at a loss on how to do them. I need something to distinquish each unit apart. I figured some symbols on the shoulder pads might work, but I am horrible at freehand stuff. Paint pens or something that would help in those regards is what I am looking for. Anything that will allow me to do some details. If you have suggestions or ideas on how to distinguish dark eldar units apart via symbols etc, please leave a comment or two.

That's all I have time for. Stay out of the Rain, and enjoy the rest of your weekend.
