GW's FAQ's Celebrated, Slaying the Beast
GW has really stepped up to the plate. They've done an amazing job with all the 5th edition codexs, and even better, at listening to the public, and getting the FAQ's out. GW has really helped us crush and slay quite a few of those silly forum arguements
We now have some old codex's moving up in the world, with current smoke launchers, typhoon missile launchers, Cyclone Missile launchers, and Storm Shields. Black Templar and Dark Angels rejoice and get those armies out!
One of the major changes I've seen is that they went back to how tank shocking was supposed to work. If you are broken, you no longer immediately get a chance not to keep running when tank shocked. So yes, you can now tank shock people off the board again. This is a major change from the just recent previous FAQ. I don't mind the flip flopping, as long as we get it right, and there is not years in between.
Other than that, we get a lot of clarifications throughout the codexes that were updated. Finally, I don't have to spend so much time teaching rules, and can get down to playing the game. I hate rules lawyering, I want to play Damnit! Things like yes to Stormravens going flat out + using the machine spirit to shoot and space marine 3" regroup + normal movement. Also no to people using machine spirit to fire a weapon/or guys inside firing + trying to use smoke launchers (yes people were doing this at one local store downtown on the east side, lol).
Already I hear people complaining though. I guess this is normal. However the "they nerfed beasts and harlequinns" is ridicules. This is how you should of been playing it. The same goes for the Dais of Destruction and trying to purchase upgrades for it.
What this set of FAQ's did, primarily was bring some older armies up to date, a couple small clarifications so we don't need to listen to so many silly internet forum arguements. (like what is a line?). The new FAQ also gave us our Dark Eldar FAQ. So it is nice to get that out of the way. I am very happy with the quality of this update. I know for some of you, it was too long coming. It is here now though, so lets move on.
I do have one question for everyone though. Was it ever an issue with people nominating where their independent characters were that we needed to have it clarified and pinpointed like it is now? That one was a shocker for me. Especially that they now want you to clarify it at the beginning of your deployment, and not just during it.
