Real Powered Armor by 2015

Looks like the US military might just get their first powered armor soldiers by 2015. It's called the XOS-2 exoskeleton, and its strong. It amplifies a soldiers strength by 17. That means you exert 1 pound, it exerts 17. While it doesnt seem to come with armored plating yet, dont let that fool you. I am sure they are quickly planning on arming it up.

The response time from the movements to the robot reacting is less than 10 milliseconds.

One big obstacle, however, is how to power the suit. Raytheon (company manufacturing the suit) is working on reducing the energy load. The chemically powered batteries such as lithium ions are not powerful enough to run the suit for eight to 24 hours at a time. Batteries also raise concerns over safety. "If they get breached, they aren't gentle in the way they explode".

I for one cannot wait to see a working version of this all armored up and ready to hit the battlefield.
