Skitarii Model Instructions Come With an of the Onager Dunecrawler

Inside the boxes, I am assuming that come with the model instructions, is a pic that is the latest discussion for the Skitarii. While I have not seen this leaked to the internet yet.... its interesting because it reveals only the Onager Dunecrawler, along with every other release we have seen thus far..., but no HQ.

Going Back to the Basics: Scourge Tactics

Lately I have been playing Dropzone Commander with the latest Hawk Wargames releases (famous commanders etc, and to check out the new rule updates. So when I started thinking of what I will play in the upcoming Nova Dropzone Tourney I went straight for the basics.

A quick note though, is that I am not sure what faction I will playing yet.

So I got out my Scourge Hunters and Reapers, and tacked on the standard Desolator. What concerned me, is my opponent brought what I would deem an extremely strong list, and as he was unpacking his Resistance, my thoughts were whoa, Im out gunned in every arena (tank and AA). Here is what he was fielding... or close enough to it.

NT-4 Leviathan filled to the rim with 2 full 12 vehicle squads of Rocket Technicals. The Leviathan was outfitted with full AA protection.
4 M9 Hannibals with Lifthawks upgraded with the AA mount.
2 M20 Zhukovs with a Lifthawk and AA
M3 Alexander Commander with Lifthawk and AA
NT-1 Kraken with two battle buses with AA batteries.
the first was full of 4 Resistance Fighters
the second with 4 Occupational Veterans

The last part I think he had some 3 gun wagons in a Kraken, but I may have been mistaken on this last part, as he had a level 2 commander in there.

So he was strong in every arena although a little weak in infantry mobility. Everything had AA though, and it was a little nuts.

My list was back to the basics.
Desolator with level 4 command
Despoiler loaded with 6 hunters and 3 reapers
3 hunters and 3 reapers in their own maurders
2 squads of 3 warriors in a marauder in invader apcs
1 warrior squad of 2 in an Intruder Alpha
2 Tormentors with razor worms loaded into a marauder.

The Ground Battle.......
Now the first rounds had me dividing my forces to the left and right, as we started off in a 5 focal point mission (bunker assault) and him running his leviathan and hannibals right up towards the center of the board. Being Scourge I wanted to jump out at him fast, and put him on the defensive (and hence limit his mobility)- get him to castle up. This worked, but also put me in a bind. Really... what can you do against 24 rocket technicals, 4 hannibals, and his Alexander.

I was able to hit first, and struck at this Hannibals, getting the first kills with my hunters as they struck from two different sides. His return fire though with all the rocket technicals did some serious damage. Skimmers bonus's + decent positioning though saved a good number of them.

While I was trying hard to reach his Zhukovs..... those are dangerous things to have around a Desolator, he moved everything ahead of them to keep them out of site, and dropped a command card on them to protect them with a 5+ passive.

To counter this, and to hopefully take out some of that massed technicals, I dropped all my warriors into buildings to get some 12" plasma shots at them. Which caused him to back up a little out of the center of the board to avoid their shots.

I continued to press on with my ground attack, and by round 5 it was spent. On the plus side I had reduced his technical push to about 25%, and had taken out all but one of the Hannibals.

The Air Attack.......
Following up on the ground push, I sent my reapers out behind the hunters. Their job was simple, remove the lifthawks. With Armor 6 and 4 damage points, lifthawks can be quite the burden to take down. The two squads of reapers were devastating to them. Everytime the reapers shot, a lifthawk was downed. Of course 6 energy 8 shots from a squad of three.... and an accuracy of 2+ is deadly. Even missing one, two reapers never missed downing their targets. Of course being the fast AA assassins they are, I was trying to crash the lifthawks onto targets beneath them.

The last lifthawk tried retreating from the center in round 5 but was chased down from the side and removed from the game.

The Desolator.
I had tried to manuever my Desolator around (even going to the deck) around small buildings to get to the bulk of his army. This included being shot at by reaction fire from the Zhukovs early on. Averages struck, and one Zhukov hit and did two damage.

As the later half of the ground was unwinding, and the reapers had downed most of the lifthawks, it was time to move in with the Desolator. It was a huge risk, as I was not going to be close enough for get much within 6" (mostly the leviathan and nothing else the first round). I blasted along with a card to re-roll... hoping to take things down, but alas, even with a re-roll, minimal damage was done.

Round 5 it was time to take a chance. I moved into the middle of the fray..... and the Zhukovs fired again in reaction fire and missed. (if both had hit, I would of been easily destroyed.)  This time a number of technicals, a Hannibal, and some other damage was mitigated to the enemy.

Round 6 came around, and the Zhukovs got their chance to finally take down my Desolator as they had the jump on me. I knew she was done, but when rolled out...... only one of them hit (the other rolled a 1). Again he did only two points of damage! (lucky). This allowed my Desolator to drop a third blast and damage quite a bit. The command Alexander had taken 3 damage from the blasts.

Wrapping it up!
With 5 focal points on the board, I had managed to dump razor worms into bunkers, drop my surviving reapers back, and get infantry into several of the bunkers. With the Desolator surviving.... which was hard considering the leviathan did another point of damage to it... leaving it with 1 left!. However, that gave me someone at each of the 5 focal points. he was able to get models to the center bunker, and obviously with 1 surviving zhukov and his alexander, veterans, etc he had his corners focal point.

Final score came down to 9-3. Kill points had me @230pts or so ahead . There was a lot of dead in this battle. Even at the very end, I had figured he would be able to reach a few more victory points.

Conclusions
The standard hunter/reaper list worked well, even being out gunned. The skimmer bonus's really came into play as the rocket technicals needed 4's to hit them, really reducing their Focus-2 bonus's. Positioning as well helped, as any model that was behind another made it hard for the opponent to push deep into the skimmer ranks, as those required 6's to hit (cover).

Obviously hunters hit hard. I forget just how hard sometimes. E11 shots are powerful, even against A10. Don't forget the Reapers.... taking down lifthawks really limited last round mobility, and two squads of them, really put the hurt on any lifthawks that were not in the backfield.

ps. I had not planned on doing a write up, so I was not taking pictures or videos. However, looking back at the game, I thought it was worthy to post up, as it puts the more traditional Scourge units against all the new stuff of the Resistance.

9th Edition Fantasy Playtesting?

I dont have a lot to say regarding if these are real playtesters or not. I find it odd that they would post this up on Facebook, and say "We are playtesting 9th Edition!", and then go further and post pics of it. So I while I doubt know this is real, and I will let you decide yourself.

This Week's Leaked Images in English

We have been deciphering these from German all morning, and thankfully we are not looking at some in English. These units are looking particularly good for the Skitarii, and rather dangerous for anyone else.

The Latest on Skitarii Rules, Weapons, and Abilities

The leaks are out, and I have compiled what I believe is everything that we have seen, and more. Its hard to tell exactly, since I dont speak German, and the leaked images have been only in German up to this point. However, there are a lot of people that do speak the language, so there are quotes below that talk about the information that has leaked so far.

Updated Leaked Images+ Information: Sicurian Ruststalkers and Infiltrators

This morning the leaked images show the latest Admech Skitarii model releases, along with their rules. The only issues being that they are in German. I will be finding some in English asap, so that we can get a better look without having to translate. For now, non-German speakers can check out the models.

Kickstarters to Take a Look At: Raging Heroes and More

There are some cool kickstarters out there right now, and some of them are getting ready to wrap up their push. Raging Heroes Toughest Girls in the Galaxy are one, and they have an amazing showcase of models in this kickstarter. Other kickstarters to check out include Wasteman, and Tabletop Adapters.

Are Eldar Next?

There are a lot of rumors floating around right now, and one of them in particular points to Eldar being after the admech release. I believe the original rumor was not referring to Skitarii, but to a full admech codex that was a part of rumors before. Sadly though, a lot of rumors were deleted by the source himself regarding what was coming.

Warhammer Visions is Getting an Upgrade

It looks like Warhammer Visions is getting revamped, and is going to be a much bigger magazine from now on. Inside the magazine as in insert was this letter (in the pic above). It seems there is no additional cost to the magazine, just more content, pictures and features. This appears to be happening immediately.

New Forgeworld Model Preview

New from Forgeworld today is a peak at a new model about to enter production. It was shown this morning with the latest Forgeworld Bulletin. With the exception of the position of his wrist holding the sword, I like it a lot.

Skitarii: They Will be a 3 Week Release

According to the latest information bits, Adeptus Mechanicus Skitarii is a 3 week release. With this week's contents already known, it would seem appropriate that we might see two more model releases next week to wrap it up. Especially the missing Onager Dunecrawler, and possibly an HQ unit.

This Week's Admech Skitarii Releases and Pricing!

This week is all Skitarii, and proves that we will be seeing three weeks of Skitarii releases. The Onager Dunecrawler is not on this list, and instead this week we will see the codex and Adeptus Mecahnicum Sicarians. Are these the guys that we saw in the concept art?

Conflicting Answers Regarding the Lucius Pattern Warhound

It appears that the Lucius Pattern Warhound Titan from Forgeworld may be discontinued. Its hard to tell, as I have been given two different responses from Forgeworld, that say two different things. One was very specific though, that the titan is being discontinued.

40k Release Schedule by the Week

This is one massive release schedule and list. I have added the sources additional comments at the end of the list. When it comes to something like this, I dont really know which way to comment, as there is a lot here. This summer acccording to the list, we should see a campaign book that includes Eldar, Admech, and Dark Angels vs Khorne for volume 1. Volume 2 would include Tzeentch added to it with new units. So most of this is wrapped around a very large two volume campaign book.

A Look Ahead at More Skitarii Units

I did not talk about this yesterday when the video hit, but in the image above you can clearly see what looks like additional units that are as of yet unreleased. Of course these could just be concept sketches, but its most likely that the image above shows not only another heavier armed skitarii soldier, but an HQ as well in the center beneath the icon.

Showcasing: The Basement Collective

I always enjoy watching battle reports, and I tend to watch quite a few of them between articles and rumor research. This week I have watched a large number of videos from one site in particular, The Basement Collective, who does a lot more than just battle reports. Tutorials, tournament news, and giveaways, there is a lot to see on their site. They also frequent the Faeit 212 Community Site, and have quite a few of their videos up there.

A Focus on Smaller Factions and Splash Releases

We have heard 2015 to be the year of supplement and campaigns before. Now on the horizon of a new faction, the Skitarii, everyone is wondering what size of codex it will be, and there is no short list of answers that the rumor mill has provided. What we do know though is that we are getting Codex: Skitarii, and at least the Onager. Everything else at this point is rumor, and hope.

The Future Will Revolve Around Decurion Style Detachements

It does seem that the primary codices are very much done, (with possible updates), and that the future will rely upon smaller books, and with that..... a reliance upon formations. Games Workshop has pushed the Decurion style detachments, in many ways differentiating the way different factions are fielded. Its a model that we have seen recently, as the detachment or formations often require certain types of units to be in them, often referred to as taxes by players. So will these new detachments be the future of Warhammer 40k? Lets see what one source is saying.

Kharn, Where Is He?

With the now released Codex: Khorne Daemonkin, its now old news that Kharn is not in it. The question remains though..... What happened? There are a several answers, and a lot of it has to do quick emotional responses, but I believe there is only on answer that makes sense.

Eldar and Space Marines

According to the very latest, Space Marines will get an updated codex this summer. The rest of the timeline that Lord of War Gaming is predicting has mention of Raven Guard, Eldar, Tau and Admech.

Skitarii Release Videos

These videos are always the best way to see the new models, and I am really liking the aesthetics of this release so far. While the Ironstriders will be a very expensive addition to this kind of army, I dont doubt that we will see many people running around with at least three of them. Fragile, yes, effective, maybe?. Most likely I personally will start off with just one to test it out (i do like the model though). Those infantry though, are what I am looking at for pre-orders this week.

Codex Skitarii is Coming

The release of the Skitarii Vanguard boxset is here, and in the description of the Vanguard it specifically mentions Codex Skitarii. There has been a lot of emails coming into my inbox saying that there wont be a Skitarii Codex, due to the models being under an Adeptus Mechanicus tab. So I just wanted to be clear that we have seen mention from Games Workshop that there is a Codex: Skitarii coming.

Raven Guard Rumors

Among all the Admech rumors and information we have had lately, there is a small bit of info out there saying that Ravenguard will be coming. Questions on rumors of a Space Marine vs Tau box, is where this came from...

New Commanders and Their Rules Are UP!

The new generic commanders just got their rules, and their models  are released tomorrow. Thats a new command vehicle for each faction in Dropzone! I am sure they will be big for all the DzC players out there. Here is what is coming...... and of course links and pics of their new rules.

New Xpace Marine Flyer and Armillus Dynat, of the Alpha Legion

The next model in the Horus Heresy Character Series is now up for Pre-Orders. The character is Armillus Dynat, the Harrowmaster of the Alpha Legion. Not only is there a new character, but we also have a new flyer, the Xiphon Pattern Interceptor. There are experimental rules available for both Horus Heresy and standard 40k.

Skitarii Pre-Orders are Up!!!!

This is a release I have been waiting for years to see. Its here now, and like myself, pre-orders will be made. Check out the latest Skitarii pre-orders today!

Adeptus Mechanicus Rumours- Rumors of the Next Book

This rumor is moving ahead of the the Skitarii codex, equating it to a Militarum Tempestus release with a full Adeptus Mechanicus book coming next. That would be interesting, and would give us many weeks of admech releases ahead.

How often does First Blood determine game outcome?

igt.logo_.01.1
We have a debate going on over at FLG as to how important First Blood is in the ITC format. Tin Bane breaks it down statistically! For those of you who are curious or play in the ITC format, this will be fun information for you.

Rumors on the Mechanicum Limited Edition and Forgeworld

The rumors continue to come little bits at a time, and as of right now, we do not know if the codex will hit next week, or if it will come the week after. From the hints in this White Dwarf, it looks like we wont see any book until week 3.

Lucius Pattern Warhound Titan

The usual Forgeworld openness was met with vagueness on the availability of the Lucius Patter Warhound Titan Chassis. Its not really like them, unless of course something is close to being announced or a new model is coming. However, the weapons for it are still available. Here is going on.

Mysterious Behavior at a GW Store

Today, someone saw a local store packing a lot of things to be sent back to Nottingham. In the box going back were quite a few items. Here is what one reader saw.

Khrone Daemonkin Formations

Formations from the new Khornen Daemonkin codex are here, and there are some good ones that look like a lot of fun.

40k Box Sets Coming- DA vs CSM, SM vs Tau

These have been rumored before, and this gives a timeline to them. Nightfury has been talking about a new Dark Angels vs Chaos Space Marine box set for awhile, and seeing it not too far off in the future gives some hope for a revisit to each of the codices.

Skitari: Transfer Sheet and a Closer Look at the Models

More images from this week's White Dwarf are hitting the web, and you can get a good look at the new transfer sheets now, as well as a closer look at the new Skitarii models. These models are full of details, and I think the more I see them the more I am liking how much is on each of these models.

Leaked Images and Rules from Khorne Daemonkin,

There are some leaked images showing off the Army Special rules, Artefacts, and the Blood Tithe Table. Its definitely a cool axe that allows you to gain a Bloodthirster when your character dies..... even if it is taking wounds every round. There are just some very cool things that are shown in these leaks.

What's In the Khorne Daemonkin Codex, Units, Allies and More.

People are now getting the Khorne Daemonkin codex, and to be honest, the community has been calling for exactly this for a long time. Of course there are those that wanted more new units, new abilities, but everyone can't be happy. The fact that we got a Chaos God codex is simply amazing.

WAAC- Wargamers All Against Cancer

Last year we did a promotional article on Faeit 212 for WAAC- Wargamers All Against Cancer. Together, (not just us), the Wargaming Community raised over £8000 for the Charity. This is a great cause, but if the budgets tight, well the budgets tight. If you can donate though, here is your chance to show once again how strong the Wargaming Community with it's Charitable Organizations.

Soldiers of the Machine God

Here is a quick information load on what is coming this week, with a leaked image of the cover in German, and some information that has been sent in. One in particular is another hint, "sneaking around". check out the latest Skitarii info.

Leaked Images- This Week's Releases and Hints for Next Week

A Tide of Daemons?... thats a surprising hint. Of course the other two we had just heard about, but its great to see leaked images of this week's releases with the pricing and next week's hints. Check them out!

Skitarii Hints for Next Week: and More from White Dwarf

More is coming next week, and one of the hints obviously points towards the Onager Dunecrawler, which is a very likely candidate for pre-orders next Friday. What else it means?, I'm not quite sure, but hopefully we will see two more kit releases for the Skitarii.

Adepticon: The Largest Collection of Pics

Like last year, Greg is sharing this massive collection of photos from Adepticon with us. Its a massive collection.... and yes is over 1200 individual pics.

Skitarii: What's Next, and Will the Skitarri Borrow Units from 30k?

The Skitarii have hit us hard yesterday and today, with 2 new dual box sets, rules, and pics to give us some insight into just what codex: Skitarii will bring. Hastings himself has said that this will be a "full release". So what exactly how big will this codex be?

Skitarii- Additional Leaks are Out There. Skitarii Weapons and Rules!

There is a lot of information flowing now about the new Admech. It seems that everyone is beyond excited about this new release, and if your not... thats ok too. Just be excited for the rest of us.

Leaked Pics!!!!! Here are images of the New Models

This shows the new models from the White Dwarf, also revealing that the boxy walker that we saw earlier is not being released this week (assuming the release list on Warseer was correct). Very cool! Check out the latest leaked information on Codex Skitarii!

Details on the Skitarii Models- Ironstrider is as Big as an Imperial Knight!

Now we have some details on this week's Skitarii releases. There are some surprises in this, including that the ironstrider is the size of a Riptide! Is this really the walker we have seen in the pics, or is there another model that has not yet been leaked.

Skitarii- Leaked Images, This Week's Releases, and Teaser Video

Finally we have some images to look at now for the Skitarii, one of which reveals what the Onager Dunewalker looks like!. Also Games Workshop throws us a quick teaser video. There is a lot here, so check out what is coming!!!!

Onager Dunecrawler Weapon Options

The Onager Dunecrawler is coming very soon according to rumors, and someone has sent us in its weapon options and configurations to check out, along with special rules.

Admech: The Sightings Start Now.

This will be an exciting week as we look ahead towards the rumored monumental codex release, Codex: Skitarii. We have had early rumors back in January, GW Webstore re-directs, and hints from the White Dwarf team both in this last weekend's White Dwarf and on What's New Today. I fully expect that what we will see will start to come in heavy.

Redirects: The Latest Rounds of Forgeworld Re-directs

A lot of the re-directs were removed, but a new set of them, and much more specific model ones are now there on the site. Event though it looks like this is giving some insight into some changes coming, it's hard to know the time line for something like this. It will be interesting to see exactly what is revealed over the next few months to see if Forgeworld really does make it onto the GW webstore. Personally, this would go a long way to making the product line more mainstream, if only production can handle the increases in sales that would occur. (which has always been one of the reasons rumors have said GW has not gone forward with this)

Tau Release Rumors

Tau have recently been appearing in the rumor mill, mostly in response I believe to the Lords of War mentioning them coming before years end. So a lot of these are very early, almost too early to have details right now. However, they are worth noting, and checking back on later.
