Pics of the Week: Dark Angels

Why Dark Angels? Well because I have all these pics of course that I have not had a reason to put up on the blog. So this week's theme is Dark Angels....

Pics of the Week happen every Tuesday where I share from my Warhammer pic library. I collect these all the time from all over, and sharing them is just fun.

Making Sense of it All: The Rumors Are Numerous.

Its time to sit down and make some sense of all these rumors flying around. There has been so many conflicts in rumors through the month of January, that this year is starting to look a little crazy. Making sense of it all is part of the problem, and finding out what is next, is an even bigger issue.

There is a rumor posted towards the end.

Faeit 212 BlogExchange; New Addition

The Blog Exchange has now been going for nearly a year. Its a place to find new blogs, new ideas, and search out ideas found within our global internet community. This week we only have one entry to add to the BlogExchange, so check it out, and several of the others that are listed along the right hand side of the page.

So what is the Blog Exchange? It is basically an exchange of blogs on each others blog rolls. Its that simple. The search engine beneath the blog roll is also set so that readers may do a search on all the blogs on the exchange for whatever it is that they are interested in. So if your blog is being added, Mondays is when I spotlight each new blog to the exchange. The purpose of the Faeit 212 BlogExchange is to generate traffic and ideas to the wider community of Warhammer related blogs around the world.

6th Edition Starter Set Contents: Dark Angels vs Chaos Marines

Lending weight to the Dark Angel Rumor that has been in full swing this weekend, I wanted to post up a confirmation from another source that indeed Dark Angels are to be part of the 6th Edition Starter Set.

Troop & Transport Box Sets Being Released This Week

Along side the Necron Battleforce, it looks like we will be seeing Space Marines & Drop Pod and some other troop + transport box sets. The source of this is someones inbox, but I have not yet recieved this information, but for some reason, GW likes me a lot less, and updates from GW are often late to me.

Presence of Faeit: White Dwarf Secret Pic, 2012 Release Schedule, 6th Edition Leak

What a change up. Last nights discovery of the picture on the spine of the last two White Dwarf's has turned the rumor mill on its head. With that lets jump right into the latest.

Presence of Faeit is my weekly editorial. I generally report during the week what is going on, and today is my day to comment on what exactly it is that I am thinking of.

A Secret Picture of Cypher On White Dwarf? Dark Angels are Coming

Something has appeared along the spine of January and February White Dwarf Magazines. The Picture appears to be of a Dark Angel. So the guesses are all over.... Is this related to the 25th anniversary or the next codex? The rumor this morning says to throw out all we know... Because Dark Angels are right around the corner. No Black Templar, No Tau, No Eldar.

Know No Fear Trailer

Dan Abnett's latest Black Library release has had such a postive response and large number of pre-orders that they are shipping the book early, starting this coming Tuesday.

The Story via The Black Library
Unaware of the wider Heresy and following the Warmaster’s increasingly cryptic orders, Roboute Guilliman returns to Ultramar to muster his Legion for war against the orks massing in the Veridian system. Without warning, their supposed allies in the Word Bearers Legion launch a devastating invasion of Calth, scattering the Ultramarines fleet and slaughtering all who stand in their way. This confirms the worst scenario Guilliman can imagine – Lorgar means to settle their bitter rivalry once and for all. As the traitors summon foul daemonic hosts and all the forces of Chaos, the Ultramarines are drawn into a grim and deadly struggle in which neither side can prevail.

About the book
When war comes to Calth and set the planet aflame, the Ultramarines face annihilation against a foe who will use any means to settle their bitter grudge.

The Words of Faeit: Mordrak and His Ghost Knights

Since last tournament I have been contemplating how I felt about fielding such an expensive and what looks like wasted points in the list. So I decided to get another game in, to see really if Mordrak and his ghost knights are tactically a smart option.

I have not done this for too long and am resurrecting this weekly post.

The Words of Faeit is a weekly post, dedicated to my thoughts on the strategy and tactical side of the game. They are not to be written in stone as "No plan of operations extends with certainty beyond the first encounter with the enemy's main strength" (or "no plan survives contact with the enemy"). Quoted from Helmuth von Moltke.

6th Edition Leak is Real and Not

Just when we thought the issue of the 6th edition leak was starting to be behind us, it resurfaces once again. This time not claiming to be fake, real, but something in between. Logically it makes sense that this would occur. I am hoping this is it for awhile, until we get some solid information.

Scarab Swarms/ Ork Vehicle Weapons from Forgeworld

Forgeworld is releasing Necron Scarabs and Ork Vehicle Weapons available now for pre-order to be released Feb 10th. With the huge demand for more scarab swarms, Im sure this one will be winner.

Rules of Our Game: The Within 1" rule

Last weekend, I had played a Chaos Daemon player roll three ones to assault through cover. He was able in the movement phase to be one inch away, so I assumed it did not matter what he rolled. However, he claimed he did not make it. I told him, you were one inch away, but he said the rules claim you must be outside one inch. I did not look it up and took his word that he failed to assault. The exact opposite occured in a later game. Either way, I really did not know, and always assumed you can be at one inch. Lets take a look at this rule.

Rules of Our Game was a weekly post regarding rules problems that I have not done for about two months. I am getting back to it. I run across tons of rules questions each week, and I think almost every person in our hobby should keep an eye out for things like these. It helps us when we finally come across such problems or weak spots in the rules of the game. Comments and "Your Wrong!" are very appreciated with this series, as navigating the rules of our game can be quite treacherous.

Warhammer 40k Event: This is It

It looks like this is our Warhammer 40k event, Ultramarines vs Word Bearers in celebration of Dan Abnett's novel release, Know No Fear. Not quite what I was expecting, but still nice to see something for 40k...... The event is set for February 18th. It's starting to feel like our hobby (40k) is being treated like a  GW specialist game. No other details yet.

Deathknell: February Release

We had been wondering exactly a Deathknell is, and well, this is it. It is a piece of fantasy terrain called the Deathknell Tower. It looks like the release date is set for February 18th.

Paying the Crowe Tax

This last weekend I was able to play several games with Castellan Crowe in a row. Of course it was a tournament, but I finally started feeling comfortable with fielding him, not to mention..... started liking him and how he plays on the tabletop.

First off, he is considered to be the Crowe tax, because he is how you get your Purifier squads to become troop choices. Generally people consider him horrible on the tabletop, myself was included until this last weekend.

Necron Battleforce and LotR February Releases

With all the disappointment of LOTR releases this month, yesterdays mornings rumors were forgotten, but apparently accurate. Here is the link if you are interested, although I have posted most of it below.

It does look like a Necron Battleforce is coming. I have posted up some more pictures. Although none of the battleforce. Can't seem to find them if they exist.

LotR re-launch has a February 4th release date.

40k Anniversary Model/ White Dwarf Cover

Here is the latest White Dwarf cover and pics of what looks like the Anniversary model. No Nids or Necrons in sight

Translation:
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Rogue Trader, which forever changed the face of miniature wargaming, we're immortalising in Citadel Finecast the very first star of Warhammer 40k.

The evocative illustration from the cover of Rogue Trader leaves no doubt; in the far future there is only war. In the center of the immage a Crimson Fist captain holds an Ork's head. Juan Diaz has sculpted a miniature based on this Space Marine captain, brandishing his grisly trophy in his power fist, a plasma pistol in his other hand. The kit includes a display base with the proud Crimson Fist standardin in the background. Alternatively you can use a regular base so that the captain can lead a squad of Crimson Fists into the heart of battle.

GW Response to Platoon Deployments

For many this debate has been a mind-numbing one. Is a chimera part of the unit it is bought for? Do chimeras deploy with the platoon during limited deployment missions like Dawn of War? We all know they act as separate units for pretty much everything, just like any other dedicated transport. So this new FAQ has brought out a few of the most ridiculous arguments, but lets get down to it, Games Workshop should clear this one up, or change what they ruled in the FAQ.

February/ March Rumors: 40k Event and Releases

Many people are waiting on pins and needles for a February release. Is one going to happen? This rumor sounds rather logical, so check it out.

Faeit 212 BlogExchange: New Additions

There are two new additions this week to the BlogExchange for this weeks spotlights. The exchange is a great way to read and discover new blogs. I enjoy reading new blogs and ideas into our hobby. Our community is a global one these days, to the point that blogs relating to our hobby are just a point and click away.

Battle Reports: Tournament

With the list I posted up earlier, I figured I would do a quick battle report (brief) on the games played. First and foremost, the three players I played were fun to play with. The list of course is what I posted earlier.

Grey Knights: My Tournament List

This is the list I fielded over the weekend, during the 2500pts tournament down at Knightfall games. Normally I do not like to post the current list that I am fielding. This list is different, simply because I do not care for it. It was the Mordrak and ghost knights that I felt would not hold their weight, or make their points. I was hoping that tactically it would make up for it.

Presence of Faeit: Tyranids + Necrons, 6th Edition Ruleset, FAQ's.

This week has been very tiring. Between new FAQ's, coming up with a list for the tournament, and family commitments. I think most of all the tournament finally kicked me.

Presence of Faeit is my weekly editorial. I generally report during the week what is going on, and today is my day to comment on what exactly it is that I am thinking of.

Tournament Day: 2500pts

Well, the day has arrived and its time for the tourny. I am all packed up and probably as most of you read this, Im heading out the door. Later I will post up the days events, as well as the army I am taking. Its not a very efficient one today, but really I could not decide what type of list to take, so I settled on this one. I will probably regret it.

Knightfall Games: Supporting Your Local Shop

We all know we should be supporting your local game stores, so it was time post up on the best store for warhammer 40k in the Portland area. I have been to them all, and by far Knightfall Games supports its player base better than any store in the area.

I've also included a video for one of the most amazing customized daemon armies I have seen.

Is the 6th Edition Leak Ruleset Real? New Poll

I have now spent some time with this ruleset, and let me tell you something, it is a good set of rules.... at least as far as a playset goes. There are people on both sides of the issue now, and I am curious what the readers here think. So its time to start another poll, now up along the left hand side of the page.

Personally I was sitting at 50/50 for a long time, until I spent a couple hours reading them. I am now going to up my game, and put them at a 75% being real. Of course GW will deny them, but I think now that there is a good chance these were real and current as of May 2011. Just correlating the new FAQ's, the latest codices, and other rumors and information we have, it looks like this thing could be real.

FAQ: Imperial Guard Platoon Deployments

This has to be one of the most heated parts of the faq. Hence while waiting for Friday to discuss it was a key. It let the idea of a Dawn of War deployment sink into my thoughts and let me analyze my thoughts on it.

New Chaos Dwarves: Daemonsmiths + FAQ

Today from Warhammer Forge we have new models, Daemonsmiths. There are three models in this set, representing a Sorcerer-Prophet, Daemonsmith and an Infernal Castellan. Also up on the Warhammer Forge site is a new FAQ for
Tamurkhan: The Throne of Chaos.

6th Edition Leak Source Found

I want to set everything straight about rumors before we get into this. Rumors are just that, rumors. They are news worthy only in the context that they may or may not be true. Not to mention they are fun to read.

Anrakyr vs FAQ

This is the best post I can find defining this issue with the new faq's. It seems to give the current line of thinking on the issue.

Leaked 6th Edition Rules Declared Legit: with a New GW Gameplan.

All I can say is wow. What started off as a fake, is now being hailed as definetly legit. This is big news. A new way of looking at our hobby is presented here by the guys at frontline gaming. Too excited to discuss it, but it comes down to this.....

Pics of the Week

Almost forgot it was Tuesday. Just so no one thinks I forgot, here are the pics of the week, even if I am a little late with it. The pic above is by far my favorite, done by Simon Robert.

Pics of the Week happen every Tuesday where I share from my Warhammer pic library. I collect these all the time from all over, and sharing them is just fun.

Chaos Space Marines: Legion Specific Sprues

Chaos Legions is one of the most anticipated releases for 40k this year. Getting sprues that are Legion specific would be a dream come true, and of course prompt me to start a new army. Todays rumor is just that, Legion Specific Sprues.

Imperial Officer's Orders and Psyker Battle Squads in the New FAQ

We have had a day now to look over the rules and get a handle on some of the new FAQ's. The ones I am going to reference here are the ones that directly effect the Imperial Guard.

Psyker Battle Squads and the New FAQ

This post is out of date, please refer to this link for corrected and up to date information regarding pskyer battle squads..
http://www.natfka.blogspot.com/2012/01/officers-orders-and-psyker-battle.html

OMG!!!!, Nerf Bat swinging swinging gone.......

OK, thats my dramatic line for the year. In truth the new FAQ hit me in the groin, but I'm still standing. Enough whinning and complaining, its time to adapt. Lets look at the two rules that effect my loved and most coddled favorite Imperial Guard unit.

New FAQ's Are UP: Necrons, Tyranids and Many More

It looks pretty extensive, and I am just now starting to go through them. Almost every FAQ was updated, and many things were handled across those codices.

My favorite of course is for Necrons..... Let the slaughter begin.
Q: If I have 2 Royal Courts, can one model from each be attached to the same unit? (p90)
A: Yes.

It looks like the list includes.....

40k Video: Gods of War

Spending a quiet Sunday evening watching 40k videos online. Probably should be doing a little modelling, but hey, these are fun to watch. Here is one I just finished watching.

Presence of Faeit: 6th Edition Leaks, Tyranids and Necrons Releases

We have had an unusually high amount of rumors come out this week. Starting of course with a Tau rumor that went south. However a very detailed 6th edition leak shortly followed alongside rumors or Tyranids, Tau, and more. Also on the agenda  which I have not really yet mentioned, is tournament prep for a upcoming tournament on this coming Saturday.

Presence of Faeit is my weekly editorial. I generally report during the week what is going on, and today is my day to comment on what exactly it is that I am thinking of.

Twilight Imperium: Review of Last Week's Game

Twilight Imperium is a beyond fantastic board game, with all the depth, tactics, and strategy you could want. Even with all this said, there are some downsides, and the time to play it is not one of them.

Last Saturday was game night at the house, and while I meant to take a picture of the game board set up, it was an excellent game night with several twists and turns. Overall we had 8 scheduled to show which is a full table, with two cancelling at the last minute. This took us down to 6 players, and the one mistake we, I should say I made, was setting up the game board with an extra row, using the same number of tiles a 7-8 player games uses.

Lord Inquisitor the Movie, Recieves a GW Response

The fan based cgi movie project seems to have recieved a Games Workshop response, and a very positive one at that. Now that has me all excited, because this is an excellent project, and already from the looks of it, is going to be better than the Ultramarines movie we already endured. (now dont get me wrong, Ultramarines was better than a fork in the eye, and I have seen it several times.... while modelling or working on other hobby stuff).

Lord Inquisitor is a fan-based cgi project with no intentions what-so-ever of making a cent off of it. He should however get a job from GW though from it. If you have not seen the trailer, I re-posted it above. Lets take a look at what was said........

A Fake Tau Pdf Leak

Another pdf hit the online community, and this time its a pretty obvious one for Tau. There are just tons of vehicles and even a stolen valkyrie with Tau weaponry on it. I am not going to post a link directly to it. Here is where you can find this one if you are interested. Don't spend much time on it though, its obviously not real, but a fun read.

Tyranids and Necron Waves Imminent for February

As if carrying on yesterday's post, we have more rumors that I have put together pointing towards what we will see in February and March of this year for Warhammer 40k.

Yes, it looks like a long awaited Tyranid wave may be here, along side a second Necron wave. Imperial Guard for this rumor are not on the February list, however, I would not be surprised with all the talk of a few IG releases, that we might just see those in March, and finally a new codex release (BT or Tau) in April.

Black Templar Next. Q1 and Q2 releases

This has already been a wild week in rumors, so when one of my sources chimed in with a little what's next, I thought I would share.

6th Edition Pdf Rumors

Well, a 6th edition pdf is now floating about is making all the news. I am not going to go into it all, simply because I don't find it interesting enough atm to read the whole thing and the chances of it being real are almost none. It is not hard to find and includes two files, the rulebook file and a codex update file.

The rulebook does look like it goes into many of details that we have heard earlier but there are some oddities in there as well. Such as not including Black Templar in the codex updates, nor Sister's of Battle.  If you are interested in locating this you can go here and search for it, or simply google it. http://www.3plusplus.net/

Pics of the Week: Natfka's 2011 Favorites

Last year there was one week to me that really set apart all the other Pics of the Week that I post up here on Faeit 212. It was the eruption of  Puyehue-Cordon Caulle. I know it is not necessarily warhammer 40k material, but these pics are by far the best pics of the year in any category. They are breath taking and apocalyptic in nature.

These pics were taken near the beginning of June 2011. These are real pictures of the eruption, and if you missed them, you are in for a real treat.

Pics of the Week happen every Tuesday where I share from my Warhammer pic library. I collect these all the time from all over, and sharing them is just fun.

Tau Recieve Another Rumor Batch

This mornings rumor set once again features Tau, with a very decent summary of what is expected. Some of this seems to correlate to what we already have heard, and some of it seems to push the envelope a little. It is getting closer and closer to a 40k release, so I am expecting rumor batches like this to start hitting.

Faeit 212 BlogExchange: New Additions

This week we have several additions to the BlogExchange to check out. It is always a ton of fun to find new blogs, and see new ideas, and people's work related to our hobby, and these are some great examples of that. So check them out.

Eldar Dark Reaper Options in Next Codex

Dark Reapers used to be a much more flexible unit back in 2nd edition, and this rumor pushes them in that direction with the addition of Eldar Missile Launchers. The rumor actually states that they will get these missiles instead of, but personally the rumor below is highly suspect  because of its source.

What I really might expect out of Dark Reapers is not necessarily due to this rumor, but that Games Workshop has repeatedly looked backwards for options and new ideas, and included them into current codices. With that in mind, Eldar missile launchers and Dark Reaper Launchers might both be on the table for the new codex.

Twilight Imperium: Game Night is Here

Game night is once again upon me. It is a once a month board game night for a bunch of guys that come to my house and battle it out on a wide selection of board games. Tonight is Twilight Imperium, and it is the first night of this game that we will be using most of the optional rules for the game.

For those that do not know it is a massive (rather complex and in-depth) board game of space colonization and conquest. The one drawback to the game is that it takes a considerable amount of time to get in, anywhere from 4-8 hours depending on if you have to keep explaining the rules.

Another amazing thing is that we are supposed to be having a full house for the game. 8 players. With political intrique, alliances and all the backstabing this group has normally in games, it will be an amazing game tonight.

Game does not start until 8:00pm so I expect us going until about 3 in the morning. So someone will be crowned Emperor about that time....

Here is a link to Fantasy Flight Games and Twilight Imperium for anyone that is interested in looking at the game.

Warhammer 40k: 25th Anniversary Model

It is being said that Games Workshop is going to release a 25th anniversary model. What I wish, is that we had a picture of it, but then again the way things are now it would be quite the scandel to have that pic already.

The speculation is in on just what the model could be. A large number of people are assuming it will be a marine, but really only time will tell.

The pic above is a golden daemon silver award by Greg Smalling back in 2007.

Vampire Counts Are Here: Links to Release Information

Up already for advance orders, the new Vampire Counts Army Book is finally here. Well, technically we need to wait another 7 days before we get it in our grubby little hands, but at least the official announcement is here. It is a beautiful looking army.
