Necron Rumor Summary Debunked Part 1

As far as the summary goes, they have been posted here before. However, I decided I needed to post them all together before they get addressed individually. Rumors are what they are, rumors. None of them are true or should be considered to be so, until the actual codex is in hand.

Each of these rumor compilations come from various places, and will be addressed in a follow up post here in a little while. With them posted here, it will be easier for people to see what the current form of Necron rumors are, before I post the response to them.

Ard Boyz 2011 (link provided)

I really had thought I had checked through these pages about 3-4 weeks ago and found no updates for this year. Apparently they had updated it on Feb. 21st. Regardless, the dates are in, and really most people already know of several places to play at this year. Last year I took my Guard, with this years goal of taking my Dark Eldar.

I hear so much internet talk of how non-competitive they are, so I am really looking forward to wrapping up my army lists. I will work on several, and see what comes out on top. I am glad to see this announcment, as it also pushes me to get my army done. Yea I know I do not need painted models, but I like to get them done, and painted before something like this.

Counter Rumor to the switch from Metal to Resin

I really do not worry about what my models are going to made of. Games Workshop will make their models, and only if the quality of the model goes away, will I switch to buying other models for my armies. So until the official announcement is made, there is really nothing to be concerned about in my book.

We can always bitch later about how bad of a choice a company makes. My only comment now is, Keep up the Quality and find ways to improve it without ridiculous price increases.

I will however keep readers updated on what I find on the subject. Today's rumor batch is a long one, but gives a decent counter rumor and some good ole logic about what may or may not be happening to our GW metal models. It is long, so I apologize. Only the first part by Denzark is the rumor.

Voidraven at the Chicago Bunker Display

I was wondering if any of you had a couple more pics of this thing. All I have is this one shot, and while it is definitely a scratch built, I would like to see a couple more images of it.

I have a file I have been building on customized and scratch built Dark Eldar models. Mostly to help spawn more ideas for my own work. Although I am currently simply working on warriors.

The Winner is..... Inspiration

Games Workshop recently ran the "Conquering Elites" Competition. I am if anything, always in need of inspiration in order to model work done. While my stuff pales in comparision to the skill this hobby produces, I still love to field a painted army, and the amount of work that I have to put into that painted army to field it.

Tonight will once again be one of my working on models night, so it was good timing that GW posted the winner of the competition and some of the runner ups. I only wish there were some Dark Eldar models in the runner ups. Regardless, here they are.

Pics of the Week

This week was kind of a last minute thing for the "Pics of the Week". To be honest I am not exactly sure what went into them, as I was grabbing the pics as I was heading out the door this morning. To much time spent reading this morning. I do know that the top picture is one of my personal favorites from way back. So much that I even customized a model of the Night Haunter above with scythe.

Metal Models Returning to Stock

In an email from Games Workshop, many models were set to be returned to back in stock. While I don't know exactly how this effects the rumored metal to resin, or orders, I figured I would post this and let other people make all the assumptions and projections.

Here is the list, please take it as a rumor since I have not seen the actual email. Add salt.

Feait 212 BlogExchange Additions X3

This last week three new additions were added to the BlogExchange. You may have already seen them, since they were added almost a full week ago now. If you have not, it's worth your while to head on over to check them out. There is some excellent model work to see, as well as a very very early eldar artwork drawing by Jes Goodwin (you will have to find it).

If you have a blog you would like to add to the BlogExchange, please send an email to natfka@live.com

Necrons Will Be Back. Soon

This morning I only have a few minutes to chime in. This rumor is pretty light, but pegs those Necrons not at Halloween but before. We have been seeing rumors of the Necrons coming in August/ September for quite some time, so this is really more of a verification and yet another rumor source.

I will be back before Noon my time to wrap up my next post. Yes the "I will be back" is a pun. I promise I will get some coffee between now and then, so no more bad humor.

Please take the following short rumor with salt.

Presence of Faeit- Dark Eldar Releases, The Truth About Rumors, War Torn Skies

Another rather slow week on the 40k front. Warhammer 40k is an amazing thing, It is a global game, and in a single week there is often enough news, rumors, battle reports etc to keep a blog like this going, even when its slow. I have this fear that I won't have anything for the next few days, and yet to my surprise something always comes up.

Presence of Faeit is a weekly editorial by myself. I generally report during the week what is going on, and today is my day to comment on what exactly it is that I am thinking of.

Murderous Skies Artwork- Dark Eldar Flyer

Thanks to Dr Love for giving us a link to the new artwork for Murderous Skies. Check it out. It is definetly one of the fyers, most likely the Voidraven even though it is on the Razorwing side of the codex (same pic). The release dates is on May 28th.

The Dark Eldar descend from the Skies in a raid on Realspace!

Artwork showing the next Dark Eldar release has been seen, and it was possibly a Voidraven. This has me all fired up. In reality I want the Razorwing Jetfighter, but I want to see both. No more teasing, here is the rumor. Please take with the usual salt. (please note the above pic is the void dragon phoenix from forgeworld, not a leak)

Necron Stat Lines

The stat lines for Necron troops appeared out of nowhere. While they seem like very reliable stat lines, other apparent information that came with them from the same poster seemed a little bit out of tune. Here is the latest on necrons.

Fridays Tau Rumor Compilation

Today is Friday, incase you havent heard. While everyone is taking a close look at their elites in their armies, I saw a decent Tau rumor compilation that might have some new information on it for some people. I beleive I have heard everything on this before, however, not all of it in one place.

Crassus Armoured Transport- New From Forgeworld

Due for release on the week of April 26th is the Crassus Armoured Transport from Forgeworld. Also being released are two new decal sheets for the Minotaurs and Red Scorptions Space Marine Chapters. A transport big enough to move an entire platoon is definetly something special.

Metal to Resin. Toxicity

First off, its my Bad. Somewhere in the mess that is my rumor section on the computer, I lost who the author of this rumor was, and it's location. Regardless, I thought it was valuable enough to share, since it is about the toxicity of the rumored resin switch.

Later when I get the time I will hunt it down again and apply the originator of the rumor to the post. For now though, here is something I found a couple days ago, apply salt like always.

Inquisition Chimera Rear Doors

Its not very often that the a possible rumor gets sent straight to me. Most of the time its a link or a "Have you seen this yet?" A day or so ago however I was sent an email that may or may not be a news. Since I have not seen anything else on it, and cannot find the Inquisition Read Chimera Doors on the Forgeworld site, I figured I might as well post it.

Tournament Review and Video

The tournament last weekend at Knightfall Games went on without a hitch. I was glad I went, despite being dissapointed about not bringing Dark Eldar. Instead I took my Imperial Guard. They are the painted ones in the video (last army shown).  Chris (the owner at Knightfall) took the video.

Jake ran the tournament, and ran it smoothly. The players for the most part knew the rules well enough, that play went along quickly, and only in the very last game did I have problems getting the game completed on time. If you are planning on playing in a tournament, practicing playing within the timeline allowed should be something you are doing.

I think the only thing that would of been nice to see, is the missions released on the stores website the day or two before the tournament. The missions were custom, and with some minor imbalances. Example.. bonus points at +1 per unit engaged in close combat (at games end) within 6" of the single objective in the center of the board. Now playing guard, especially against a good Ork opponent, there was no chance if I wanted to win the game, that I was going to battle those orks in close combat.

Regardless, if the missions were posted a little earlier, even the night before, people would of had time to adjust their thinking slightly. I would not of changed  my lists, but instead would of been like "oh crap" this is going to be hard.

I want to put in a plus for Travis and his Orks. No matter when I play him, we always have an excellent and tough game. We had a brutal first game, and it came down to a draw at the end of 5 rounds. His warboss with nob bikers did fail their leadership with a boss pull and flee off the table, however........ That is nothing to a couple years ago in Seattle Ard Boyz semi's when his one salamander marine making two 6+ cover saves as he went to ground vs two earthshaker rounds and a 4+vs a demolisher shell. That one cost me some points in that tournament.

Very fun tournament, the players there did an excellent job. Travis with his Orks took "Overall Champion", I with my Guard took "Best General", with Dan getting  with his Ravenwing Bike Army "Best Sportsmanship", and "Last Man Standing" going to John with his Imperial Guard

Necron's Mysterious Rumors (possibly the worst rumors)

I am going to be the first to shed some serious doubt on these rumors and normally I would pass on this one. However, there are a couple interesting things listed in here, so I thought I would throw down this morning.

The poster of the rumor was posting for the first time (credibility sinking), and was posting in English when it obviously was not his first language (credibility sinking faster).

Just a side note though, several rumor mongers are jumping on the bandwagon of a August/ September release for this codex, including saying they have seen the playtest codex. from posts by Harry, ghost21 and Bramgaunt.

Please take tons of salt here, and if you are able to decipher some of the vague parts of these rumors, please comment on.

Warhammer 40k Dark Millennium Online First Playable Race (Video)

This is a pretty cool video to watch. I for one am excited about this games release. It doesnt by any means say that I will be die hard about it, since I have plenty on my plate already, but I am excited to see the 40k universe come to life. Enjoy the video.

Pics of the Week

In general Dark Eldar pics are rather difficult to come by. There is just not a wealth of artwork for them. I have done dark eldar in the past several times, so finding new stuff is just a tremendous challenge.

However, for the pics of the week today, I have a few. Here is what I could find that I have not posted somewhere in the past.

Dark Eldar Battle Force, Grotesques, Wracks, and the Court

It looks like we are going to see a decent sized June release for Dark Eldar.  Rumors are all over the map on what is going to be released and what is not. Here are a few more rumors taken from various online conversations.

On top of what they are discussing below, we are expected to see Venoms, Talos/ Cronos, Razorwing Jetfighters, and scourges in June. The voidraven model apparently was having some issues, and is expected later this summer.

Faeit 212 BlogExchange Additions

A new site was added to the blog exchange this morning. I want to keep people apprised of new additions so that they can head on over and check them out. Eldar related sites are always a plus to the gaming community. The Storm of Blades is a new blog where the authors current project is the building of his Eldar army.

If you have a blog you would like to add to the BlogExchange, please send an email to natfka@live.com

A Cool DreadKnight Alternative

The mounted Dreadknight turns your monstrous creatures into Calvary, allowing fleet and 12" assaults. What is there not to like. I am of course joking, but the pic above is pretty cool.

On Saturday people were talking about other Dreadknight options for modelling, and I had just happened to have seen these wonderful models put out by Hitech Miniatures. Now the golden Jesus paint job might be a little bit over the top, but the model itself is amazing.

Presence of Faeit- Tyranids, Necrons, and Tournament Fun

This week seemed like it was a little light for me in the warhammer 40k side of things. I mostly worked on models tryingto get things ready for the tournament this weekend. I was very dissapointed that I was not able to get my dark eldar ready in time. There were also the normal rumors floating around, mostly of Tyranids and Necrons.

Presence of Faeit is a weekly editorial by myself. I generally report during the week what is going on, and today is my day to comment on what exactly it is that I am thinking of.

Necron Summary Compilation and Rumors

Today I had found a brief summary of necron units, and although it was brief it had some information in it that was new to me. So here I figured I would combine that with what we heard on Monday, and compile them into one single summary, with the new information typed in italics.

Of note there are two named new heavy support options, some possible names for Necrons Lords, along with some of the lords that will make other units troops. There is also some confusion on where scarab swarms will go, as the new information puts them into troops. I would not hold my breath on this one yet.

The Promethean Sun- Artwork

The book is now available if you are one of the lucky ones to get the only 3000 hardback copies. If not, you will be waiting like myself.

Vulcan hits home for many space marine players, as he is probably the most common HQ character out of the codex. Below is the rest of the artwork for the latest book from the Black Library.

Eldar Wraithseer and Corsairs Now Available for Pre-Order

Shown at Forgworld Day, the Eldar Wraithseer and Corsairs are now available to be ordered via Forgeworld. They are to be shipped the week of April 26th. Personally I love the look of the Wraithseer, but I am a little biased since I have always liked Wraithlords in general.

Black Templar- Whispers in the Wind

This morning, while packing up for the tournament, I happened across a discussion going on about the Black Templar. They are a little vague, and some of it conflicts with the order of things to come, but its a rumor nonetheless. If anything, I still think the order of things will be Necron, Sisters, Tau.... 6th edition.

I am going to assume that Black Templar might somewhere fit into the mix, but make sure your intake of salt on this one is quite unhealthy. Here is the discussion at hand with some of the earliest Black Templar rumors.

Release the Monsters Deadline Missed= Failure

The timeline for me to field my Release the Monsters Dark Eldar Portal list is past. There is just no way of fielding it properly in the tournament tomorrow. The primary reason it has to be completed, is because battlepoint wise, a fully painted army is worth a full massacre in points. Not to mention, that I whole-heartily dislike fielding an incomplete and non-painted army for a tournament (its like showing up to work naked).

Salvage Operation- Missing Land Raiders

Apparently someone from Forgeworld at Adepticon mentioned something about a Barge going down with GW stock on board. Apparently insured, no official recovery effort was involved. So my question is, where are all you psychotic gamers and your scuba gear?

This one is fun, please remember that this is probably not factual, but is hilarious. Here is what was said over on Bols forums. They may however be some truth to the story.

via Lerra
I heard a rather interesting tale from one of the Forgeworld employees while I was at Adepticon.

Apparently some time ago, a barge sunk while carrying 40,000 Land Raiders. It was insured, so it meant no real loss to GW, but it makes for a funny story.

Dark Eldar Release in June

The phsyical dates really do not matter to me as much, I want certain models released, and it looks like I may be waiting a while since they were supposed to be metal. Either way, any information on what is coming and when is still decent information.

The rumor below gives two dates, basically mid-month and end of month for June Releases. I do not know how they will be splitting this up, but with only three items to release (scourges, talos/cronos, and razorwing) Why would they would split the release up into two seperate dates. Perhaps more models than what we know of?

US Navy successfully tests a Laser Prototype- Video

Today the Office of Naval Research and their industry partner Northrop Grumman successfully disabled a small target vessel using a solid-state, high-energy laser (HEL), mounted onto the deck of the Navy's self-defense test ship, the former USS Paul Foster (DD 964).

Previously lasers have been tested in the air and on land. Its application at sea could be to quickly disable pirate boats off the coast of Africa, or to keep terrorist boats away from navy vessels.

I however think its just as viable to fire every weapon you got and blow them to high hell. Disabling is cool, but nothing beats the overwhelming use of firepower.

The video has no real sound, but its worth taking a look at.

Tyranid Second Wave and Summer of Flyers

OK, seriously, it is about time we hear something about tyranids. Granted I do not play them, but information has been 0 of late and rumors had it that a second wave was coming this fall. Well, the rumors are back, as well as the rumored Wartorn Skies (summer of flyers) White Dwarf release for this summer. Here is something I dug up this morning since I have been starving for rumors the last few days.

The Xenos Must Be Purged- Promethean Sun is Here

Tomorrow at this time, the latest from the Black Library will be released, The Promethean Sun in a limited run. Vulkan will lead the Salamanders into the fires of war. http://www.blacklibrary.com/

Portal Block- Preventable?

The infamous portal block is a bane for quite a few Dark Eldar players. I am going to say apparently, because I haven't yet had someone successfully stop mine yet. There are some very good ways to block a portal, and I figured doing a post might just get some of these methods people are using out on the table. I will do a quick one on how I tend to deploy my portals, and then by all means if you have had someone block your portal, speak up and tell us how.

What I don't want to hear is theorised counters, or "I would do this to your tactic". I want to hear from Dark Eldar players how their portals have actually been blocked in a game. This means that they must block it in the first two rounds of the game. Later blocks mean nothing really.

Tau Faq. Sorry

I know this is not new. I first saw it posted on Yes The Truth Hurts.com two days ago. The Date on the faq was March 10th, a month ago? Really this is more about internet failure that no one noticed, than about the actual faq. Perhaps they dated the faq when they started it, and it just came out? Regardless, it seems we are all a month late on this one, so all the bloggers and sites should be doing is damage control, and saying "sorry".

So really what is in this faq? It is mostly about Drones being destroyed not giving kill points. The most interesting one though for me is that marker lights can modify a roll to no existant. So the cover save can be completely eliminated and the Ld can be lowered to the point when the unit fails the Pinning test automatically. This to me is significant, not in game play but in terms of ability and what we might be seeing in the new codex.

Pics of the Week

These are relatively new pics for me, since I was having trouble with my back drives this morning. Pics of the Week is a weekly set of pics showing off the 40k universe.

RTT 2500 Tournament- My List (Release the Monsters)

I had those Haemonculi locked up since their last bloodthirsty battle, but once again it is time to release them. Tournament on Saturday. I plan on taking my Dark Eldar for their first tournament showing, assuming a couple things.

First that I can wrap up the models that I am working on to do so. They will need to be painted, as there is a comp set of scores (sportsmanship /painting). Oh well, this just means you also need to not table your opponent or they wont give you the best score.

That's me just bitching about comp, of course I will try and smash the opponent into the ground, I will just do it with a smile : ). Normally I just rate the opponents on movement fudging, or dice hiding, and give the best score I can give them otherwise.

Release Schedule through 2012? Wartorn Skies Summer Expansion (summer of fliers)

Here is an updated release schedule for what may be coming out. Most of it is very similar to what we have been seeing since the beginning of the year, so it seems likely that 3 codexs are due on the very near horizon. At the beginning of the year we had predicted the following- Necrons (Sept), Sisters of Battle (End of the Year), and Tau were then discovered to be early 2012.

The following rumors are similar with more alternative options, and the mentioning of a possible name for our summer of fliers, Wartorn Skies. Personally I like the name, and cannot wait to see it. Will I play it, who knows. I will at least look at it, and read through the rules as I normally do with 40k expansions. Its also possible it will be a White Dwarf release, and in that case, I will pick up that White Dwarf.

Onto the rumored Release Schedule (and note it leaves out a possible tyranid 2nd wave this fall)

Necrons Are Back- Trying To Save We'll Be Back (New Necron Rumors)

Way to start off our Monday morning with some Necron Rumors. It will be a good rumor day, as I already to go is the next set of rumors for the day, followed up with some Dark Eldar tournament lists as I prepare for this coming weekends tournament.

Necron rumors are turning into high gear and should be continueing if they are indeed the next codex.

Faeit 212 BlogExchange - New Additions.

These couple were added to the blog exchange about a week ago. I wanted to keep people apprised of new additions so that they can head on over and check them out. These were meant to be posted a week ago, but somehow with games, and modelling they somehow didnt get their post.

If you have a blog you would like to add to the BlogExchange, please send an email to natfka@live.com

Presence of Faeit - Fast Attack Dilemma, Repressor, and Demuirg

This week started with a Bang. Had games scheduled, new exciting rumors or Tau and Sisters models, then it died. It didn't really die, we had tons of new Fantasy releases and information out there. The Tomb Kings new release was all over, and showed off some very cool models. Wait a minute, this is a 40k blog. So yes, everything died towards the end of the week, as did my motivation.

Presence of Faeit is a weekly editorial by myself. I generally report during the week what is going on, and today is my day to comment on what exactly it is that I am thinking of.

These Dark Eldar Are Not Coming In June

There are now some things we might not be seeing for awhile, however we are still supposed to be seeing models released in June.

It seems that the Voidraven is pushed back. I have heard vagues about them not being ready, and needing to be pushed back. Others we will not be seeing were originally going to be metal models. Since GW is apparently not going to be producing metal models, it seems that our Wracks,  Haemonculi, and Grotesques are pushed back some.

Remember that these and the following are rumors, and are subject to being changed, misinformed, and otherwise wrong. Please take with salt.

Forgeworld Day 2011. Pics and Winner of the Painting Comp.

OK, this model won the painting competition, and wow, it is amazing. Major kudos to Conrad Mynett with his renegade rough rider. I am just in awe of this model. If I had say, 10 or more of these, I would field simply on the coolness factor.

Forge world Open Day 2011 Coverage via Forgeworld.

Warhammer World in Nottingham was the venue for the 5th annual Forge World Open Day on 3rd April, and it was a great success as you can see in this gallery below. Our Charity Titan Raffle raised more than £1,500 to help the tsunami relief efforts of WorldVision UK in Japan, so we’d think to thank everyone who bought a ticket for their generosity.

WH40k Space Marine "Behind the Scenes of the Universe".

Here is a behind the scenes look at the new and upcoming video game Space Marine. It is alway a lot of fun to see the Warhammer 40k universe come to life, and get great visuals on just what the 41st millenium looks like. Very easy and fun to watch with your Saturday morning coffee.,

Necrons and the Fall of Damnos (new fluff and rumors for July)

It seems that we can sometimes gain some insight to new a new codex when checking out new Black Library releases. The Fall of Damnos is no exception. While I have not read the book as of yet, I just finished Soul Hunter, I do expect to get to it soon. Perhaps though some insight from the new Necron novel will quench our thirst for some Necron back story, or just some slight glimpse into what is supposed to be our next codex. ( I hope).

There is also a rumor going around, that we will see something on the Necron side in June or July, most likely July. I am not posting this rumor as credible (I pass up quite a few I find), but thought I would mention it in passing since we were discussing Necrons. So please take an unhealthy amount of salt on this one, enough to clog up those arteries.

On the Tau Front (more rumors)

Yet another set of Tau rumors. The first two come from novels, possibly indicating possibly some new units amongst the Kroot. While Novels I am sure have a certain liberty, its worthwhile to take a look. The rest is a full set of rumors without much detail. Here's to the Tau, and please take with salt.

The End of Days for Metal. The Birth of Resin (compilation of rumors)

This was supposed to go live yesterday, however, someone on staff made a mistake. Now that the staff member has been reprimanded, demoted and given a strict warning to not do it again, we can get on to the rumor.

This rumor was has been circulating awhile, and been gaining strength this last week. So I decided to post from various sources and let you get every bit of information I could find that I thought was worthwhile.

Dark Eldar June Releases

This rumor conflicts with a few others on the time line for our next Dark Eldar releases. That's OK though, because these are rumors and not announcements. The latest gives pushes the venom out of April and into June. This is the biggest change (which could just be GW altering release plans, or they weren't sure to begin with).

Pics of the Week

Finally its Tuesday. I found it quite funny that last week was the most popular Pics of the Week ever. Of course it was women in Sisters of Battle costumes, so apparently that was what it took. Regardless, this week is not Sisters of Battle costumes, but a trip down the Daemonic path. I hope you enjoy it nonetheless.

Thunderwolf Cavalry Release Scheduled

Something Spacewolf players everywhere want more than anything, Thunderwolf Cavalry. Personally I cannot wait to see them on the tabletop. Not having a model makes it difficult for a lot of people to get them, and there are a lot of people waiting to spend money on this model. I hear it all the time. So here is the rumor, please take it with a grain of salt like always.

Sisters of Battle Models- What is on the Horizon

Here is another rumor regarding the Sisters of Battle. Its a nice one that seems to mostly be about the models taken from computer images of what they are going to look like. There is a big discussion with this one about inquisitorial symbols, and the most logical conclusion is that the author just got to take a look at the images, there could of been more, more that was not done, or any other conclusion when not looking at a finished product. The biggest thing to note, is what models are going to return with the codex. This gives us insight into what will be in the codex with what options etc....

These are rumors, so again, please take with a grain of salt.

(Just Updated with more rumors) Tau Crisis Suits with Three Wounds Each?

One of the bad things already this week, is how far behind on the rumors I am. I literally had to choose between 5 different choices this morning. So I started with the most reliable of the sources and authors. So the First will be a small one on Tau crisis suits and HQ's. There is a lot to do, with little time, so here it is. These are rumors, so again do not forget the salt.

Presence of Faeit- Sisters of Battle Leaks, Grey Knights are Released

This week really was rather crazy. You have to contend with Aprils Fools Day, and the rumor mill. We had a leaked play test copy of the Sisters of Battle (4 pages long), and the rumors that Necrons, Sisters of Battle, and finally Tau will be out in short order. This weekend is also special, The Grey Knights are released and finally here. Even though I have faced them across from me at the tabletop already, they are now formally out.

Presence of Faeit is a weekly editorial by myself. I generally report during the week what is going on, and today is my day to comment on what exactly it is that I am thinking of.
