Tyranids are coming, and the leaks are appearing. There are a couple new models in the pics, from a flying beast to others that look like artillery. Not only that, but there are some rules leaks as well. Check this out.

Please remember that even though these are leaks, they are still considered to be rumors until we see something official.

Stay tuned, as more is coming.

  5. Second flyer is called crone according to image source.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Also, source says you need to take a full brood of 30 gaunts to make tervigons troops.

    1. The rumor has it you buy ONE brood of 30 Termagants, and ALL Tervigons can be purchased as Troops.

      Delete
    2. What I didn't quite get is why you couldn't take a tervigon as a sort of 'upgrade' in the same slot as 'gants. OK, it might be bonkers to have 6 tervigons on the table but they had no ranged weapons, 6 wounds and T6 but were slow so basically tanks.

Then at 200 odd points for the unit to include 6 would mean a good chunk has gone on not a lot of models.

  7. "Warriors - no stat and base cost change. Flesh hooks option
Little bugs 1pt cheaper. Cheaper options. Need 30 to make Tervigon troop.
    Stealers - same.
Rippers - 13pts/base. Can buy Deep Strike"

Unbelievable. I mean, wow, there's now an 80 point extra tax for Tervigons, stealers are still unusable and so are warriors. I really, really hope the psychic powers are made substantially better, or all the MCs are buffed along with Shadow in the Warp because otherwise outlook is bleak indeed.

    2. Give it a chance, the close we get to it, the more the 'Nid release is starting to remind me of Daemons. All these grim and bleak rumors then the 'dex turned out fine. Wait and see =)

    3. Ofc some units are still like before or got worse. GW wants you to buy the new stuff after all.
Its Not like nids will be Bad. They will be balanced.

      Delete
    4. You know a release is bad when that "they will be balanced" crap is floating around, balanced like CSM, and 5th ed nids right?

      Delete
    5. sorry if that sounds rough, that expression is a pet hate

      Delete
    6. the Tervigon tax is/was needed. stealers and warriors never have been "unusable" they are just out-shined by the vastly cheaper gaunt morphs and the stupidly cheep mc troops.

Quit crying that the sky is falling before you have seen a single codex entry, what are you a CSM player?

      Delete
    7. Genestealers and Warriors are indeed currently crap in competitive play, not just outshone but outright crap. But these rumours lack too much meat to judge any power level yet.

      Delete
    8. People said the Eldar Codex was the worst they had seen when the rumors hit. Heck, even the first week after the book was in our hands saw the internet raging about how "nerfed" it was.

Then it produced about half a dozen different competitive builds and started cleaning up tournaments.

      Why?

Because people don't have a clue. Until someone has played about 30 games with different lists and points values against a wide variety of opponents, no accurate assessment can be made.

Why... Its always been like that: old stuff becomes Bad & new stuff good. Simplefied speaking!
And the Trend has been Non op dexes for the most.

    11. I remember that reviews of the Tau Codex boiled down to, "this sucks, they ruined Broadsides! Worst Codex ever."

Hoo boy, what a short-sighted bunch those people were...

Your existing tactics will probably suck, yes, but new ones will hopefully appear that are better.

      Delete
    12. I prefer the style of the old XV88s but, Kroot aside, I certainly have no complaints about my Tau :]

    13. The Daemons codex is not 'fine'. It is horribly balanced with everything in HQ and heavy. It has no anti air and it has weapons that do more for your opponent than you.

Name another unit that requires 11 dice rolls to shoot a weapon likely to damage one model (which will make a save).

No can openers, for an assault army no grenades or transports.

Then there are the tables. The fecking tables. Roll a dice to see if you get something that isn't worth paying for, or that another army list gets better (artificer armour) for fewer points without a dice roll.

There are so many holes it's painful.

    14. From an opponent's perspective, I disagree. When it comes to Nurgle daemons anyway. My Eldar & my mate's Marines had an excellent game against a Nurgle force where a wound-regenerating Great Unclean One rolled up a flank by himself, my Spiritseer got randomly turned into a Chaos Herald, the last surviving marine on the board escaped a 12-on-5 melee vs Plaguebearers only to be felled the next turn by Slaanesh him/her/themself...it was an excellent and amusing game to be involved in, easily one of the best I've played over the last ten years.

For Nurglites at least it seems to work: they're damn hard to put down with a 5+ invuln, a mobile +2 cover save & a FNP roll so they can get into combat where their main guy can challenge or muller the opponents with an AP2 "LOL No saev 4 yuo" ether blade. GUOs are tough, tough m0f0s, everything that's green and rotten works as I expect it to.

I can appreciate that the other three Chaos force smay not quite be awesome though, I'm all ears in that regard, but to call it a weak codex based on what I've seen is to do the book a disservice.

  9. so no Sky Slashers, no Shrikes, Mycetic Spores are gone, as are the Parasite and Doom... thanks GW nice to know you care...

that being said i do like the models, just wish there were more.

    1. I think they will fall back on the fact that Sky Slashers and Shrikes have Forgeworld support. Not that that is an excuse.

      Delete
    2. At the insane price of the new warriors they better include wings!!! And skyslashers!

      Delete
    3. Luckily I have about 30 Warriors and do not require any of their repackage price hikes.

      Delete
    4. Also, Warriors probably still suck anyway.

      Delete
    5. Again: you will not see GW produce anything that FW already make.

You already have access to Slashers & Shrike wings, GW don't need to waste money integrating those into new kits.

Also I suspect that we'll see new character versions to replace the old ones if the removal of the Para & Doom are true; most other books still have a character version of significant units...

  10. I don't like the new wide-mouthed one, reminds me of the chaos warriors warp beast with all the tentacles. Hopefully the rules don't make it a must-take :)

Other than that, love the warrior redo (very subtle chest plate change) and love the new hive guard and flyers. I think the exocrine guy is cool looking but I'm wondering what it can offer that a tyrannofex cannot in terms of fire power.

The secondary flyer looks like it has a torrent weapon, which could be interesting to say the least. Looking forward to seeing what the stats on our weapons and beasts will be. BS4 tyrannofex? Assault 3 rupture cannon?

I wonder how tervigons will be balanced with the new full squad requirements. Is there any chance that they will lose their "doubles stops them spawning"?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Late reply indicated Tervigons can take a 20pt upgrade to roll 4d6 to spawning, and a 15 pt upgrade to avoid crapping out on doubles, and both could be taken together. So start painting more Gants!

    2. I guess the new flyer shoots little broodling units?!!
Looks like it should at least.

    3. What's the Warrior change, Nick? I'm painting some Warriors at the moment and the chests look pretty much the same with the flat sternum.

The big-gobbed thing looks to me like a transport. If anything can vom up units that massive maw can! So I think that would make it a Cerebore...

      Delete
    4. The current warriors have a flat sternum, but the new warriors appear to have segmented plates over the sternum, much like the current raveners.

      Delete
    5. Ahh, I think that's just the Prime.

If you take another gander at the link in the main post you'll see a pic of four Warriors underneath the pic of the Prime and they look pretty much the same as they do now. FLAT CHESTED :'(

    1. It says not on table anymore, so no model ( which is odd granted )

    2. So you can probably deep-strike but lose the spore in the process.

On the plus side, without a model on the table it should be less points to spend...

    3. If the make it so it can land on/around enemies and assault out of it I think people will be happy/terrified :)

  20. Damn. New Tyranid models look like crap :*( The MCs all look bloated and the Prime and Guard look like *very* mediocre conversions. If you want a badass lookin Prime check out the one by Hydracast. I hope the codex isn't half the letdown the models are.

    Replies
    1. I think you're in a minority, mate. Shouldn't really ever judge a model until you seen it properly; every new release has had pics of at least one model where I've thought it was craption but in the plastic it's actually been alright or even nice.

I've no idea how Hydracast got away with blatantly copying a Tyranid so closely lol

    2. I agree with you 100% on the Prime and Guard models Rattlesnake.
-Whoever did the design for Prime model must have been pretty lazy/unimaginative. I was expecting way more spikiness.
-The Hive Guard look way less intimidating and I'm disgusted by how silly the Tyrant Guard looks.

    3. Also, I imagine the harpy conversation went something like this:
"hmmm... this winged carnifex looks kinda plain. Let's stick barbs and spines all over its back! Now it's dynamic!"

      Delete
    4. Personal not sure about the models but then i never am at this stage of the rumor leaks, even with my doubts i can see that some minor conversions and paint scheme changes would make these models look much better. (Sad that the models need that to look good to me though) Hopeful for the most part, though don't like the tentacle thing, might take them out and do split frog tong conversion thing:)

  21. Well now that someone has informed me that my opinion is in the minority my mind has changed. Minority opinions are obviously wrong, thanks for the wisdom!

Amd you're right, I'm sure a different *paintjob* or *angle* is going to prove to me that the *sculpt* is something entirely different.

And here I thought my opinions merely had to be truthful and my own to be valid. Whoops!

    ReplyDelete

    1. His point is that if most people like them, there's a chance that seeing them in person might change your mind, meaning there's a silver lining for those that at first impression don't like the sculpts.

      Delete
    2. No, his point was to invalidate my opinion because he disagrees.

The idea that most people liking them raises the odds of my tastes and opinions flipping is equally absurd and dismissive of me having an opinion.

I can see that minority opinions are not respected here so I'll move on.

      Delete
    3. Minority opinions are wrong, welcome to Democracy. The majority opinion is the most important opinion.

Things can be very different when you have the model in your hands and start painting it yourself.

      Delete
    4. When you've finished with your defensive hissy fit please let me know.

For when you have I'll put it in more simple terms that I hope you may not take so much offense with: you might like the model(s) if you see them on a table. THAT was my point. The model in the pictures is the subject of discussion, not you.

But if you want to make it about you: I wasn't attacking you in any way but straight up - your opinion of a model you've not seen *is invalid*. You've not seen it, you have no position of authority nor experience to judge it, neither do I, nor to many people outside of GW.

You're judging the pictures as that's all we have to go on, and that's entirely legit - and I never said otherwise - and all I said was that the model might look better than the picture of it so there's hope yet.

The fact that you've not seen the model doesn't make you wrong, it might be crap, but if you want to flounce off into the sunset it would be a shame but be my guest.

      Delete
    5. Nick has it. Coffee also gets it, but I'm not on-board with minority opinions being incorrect.

To reiterate: RS Kid, I don't expect you to change your mind simply because more people disagree with you; that is always the worst reason to do so. I like some things while the majority may not, I also dislike a lot of things that most people may like: it doesn't make me more correct than them, nor them more correct than me.

What I was hoping for was for you to see the model itself and then maybe appreciate it, just like I hope to. It isn't a great picture by any stretch and we can't even see the whole thing. It might be alright!

      Delete
  22. I can let you know when I've finished with my defensive hissy fit?
You'll use more simple terms for me?

    Gee, thanks for the condescension

"Your opinion on a model you've not seen *is invalid*."
So, Captain Logic, that would mean your opinion on the models is invalid as well.

Trying to sound polite while being overtly condescending and upping your use of punctuation (while still failing) to sound smarter only portrays you as an insecure person trying to look good while continuing to be disrespectful. Pointing out the fact that others agree with you doesn't make you more right. It just means others agree with you.

I do not think you are stupid at all and I'm sure you're a decent person, but you have a sense of superiority that you should check.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Thanks for the analysis but I'm pretty secure within myself. Honest. Yeah, I can be fairly condescending. That's my bad. I mischevously enjoy it though so you may just have to put up with it and I assure you there's no malicious intent :P

Yes, I am Captain Logic though (Engineer by profession so it's ground into me) and I'm not failing simply because I also stated that I don't have an opinion on the model because I've also not seen it. I have no opinion on it to be valid or invalid. When I see the actual model or a 3D 360 of it I'll be in a position to have a more informed opinion and then I'll share it.

I was pointing out that the other guys understood my point and you, respectfully, still seem to be missing it and making the discussion about you being wrong and me somehow more right. I'm just saying that it's premature to judge something when you've not seen it properly.

  23. army wide move thru cover? I love it! I don't even play nids.... but for some reason I always root for nids and orks to have really codicies. they are the best armies to play against, and the guys playing them usually tend to be cool guys.
