I have been saving things for terrain building for years, and last night I started the project. The goal...... One nicely set up table with enough terrain to mix it up for the occasional at home game.
Their are a few great blogs on the exchange, and I will be tending to them for more ideas as I need to get more terrain built. I will start with what I know, so I am setting up a more natural setting with some rock formations, some woods for area terrain, and whatever else comes comes to mind as I get going.
I will reveal my process on the way, since toughening up Styrofoam for game use is something I am pretty good at.
I have my 4x8 table (1' sections on either side for army set up) and my Styrofoam alongside a ton of misc things ready to go.

Could you share some of your favorite blogs that deal with crafting terrain?
ReplyDeleteMe and my buddies pent over a month making terrain for a mini campaign. In the end it had a space port, a small city and a mini beach head for planet strike games featuring bunkers and wire. But goo luck man!
ReplyDeleteGood luck on that, looking forward to seeing some nice stuff.

Good luck on building the terrain. I did find that pink or blue faom works best to do builds tho.
ReplyDeleteLook forward to seeing your progress. Always looking for new terrain ideas! We have some stuff on our Blog if you want to check it out, from my own personal terrain building to massive projects for our 70 player tournament coming up!

What greater joy is there in this hobby than to see your own created terrain set up on a board?
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, crushing the enemy!
But seriously, have fun as I know how great it is to make your own scenery. My first ever DIY piece of scenery was a columned building made from two big pieces of cardboard and kitchen roll holders. Then I added a polystyrene 'thing' on top which came in useful for a command bunker or observation room.
Think I intended it to be a power station but hey, I was only anout 7 or 8. I really should get back to modelling terrain, I've gotten lazy.
I've some ideas for a Nurgle Daemonworld which, if anything like my imaginings, will make people sick just to look at it!
