Mumblings Within the Warp: Chaos Daemons

As always there is often a small snippet of a rumor that slips in once in a while, and although it seems far away, is worth mentioning. Once 6th edition is fully underway, it would not surprise me at all if Chaos Daemons would somehow arrive next year, and this rumor says just that.

Two Versions of 2012

Here are the two versions of what the rest of 2012 could look like. Personally I think that we will see two codices this year,
I am just not quite sure how they will fit themselves in. It would surprise me to see only one.

Pics of the Week

I have been sitting on most of these pictures for some time while I have been digging through another batch of files containing 40ks that were sent to me. So here is a slight mix of the two today.

Pics of the Week happen every Tuesday where I share from my Warhammer pic library. I collect these all the time from all over, and sharing them is just fun.

Whats Next: A Follow Up To Chaos Legion Rumors

A follow up post from this morning via a different source. This rumor is expecting a codex release in May or June with 6th edition coming in July.

Chaos Legions: Rumors of Whats Next

Chaos Legions are rumored to be next, and other people have already said that they are at the printers. While there is some discussion that the next 40k slot will come in May, its not written in stone. This is what the rumor mongers are saying.....

April: Empire/ Minor 40k releases
May: 40k Codex? / Necron Wave?
June/July: 6th Edition
Sept: Starter Set- Chaos vs Dark Angels
Oct: 40k Codex

Tastytaste over on BoK is saying that Dark Angels will be filling the May slot, while other rumor mongers are saying that Chaos Legions are next.

Faeit 212 BlogExchange: New Additions

Today we have a couple more new additions to the Faeit 212 BlogExchange. As normal, I am always behind when it comes to casual reading and getting to read other blogs, but it is something I enjoy tremendously. Our community is truly world wide, which brings in a tremendous number of ideas and thoughts regarding our hobby. This week there are two new additions to get to know.

So what is the Blog Exchange? It is basically an exchange of blogs on each others blog rolls. Its that simple. The search engine beneath the blog roll is also set so that readers may do a search on all the blogs on the exchange for whatever it is that they are interested in. So if your blog is being added, Mondays is when I spotlight each new blog to the exchange. The purpose of the Faeit 212 BlogExchange is to generate traffic and ideas to the wider community of Warhammer related blogs around the world.

Chaos Rumors: Obliterators and Special Characters

Some more Chaos Legions rumors to begin our week with. Obliterators getting new weapons, and varying levels of eternal warrior coming. While not a lot to dig into, for a Monday morning its a great way to start off.

Copyright Litigation Settlement Announced

Games Workshop has announced that the lawsuit against Paulson Games has been settled. For those that do not know, Paulson games made tyranid bits, like lash whips and boneswords. What else they made, I am not quite sure of, but a settlement announcement is always nice to hear.

Fun Alternative Terrain Tutorial: Video

Since I have been working hard on getting a boards worth of terrain ready, I thought it only right to show an alternative to the methods that I use. Please do not try this at home.

Presence of Faeit: Tervigons and Thunderwolves, Terrain, My Grey Knights

This week we are celebrating the 25th anniversary of 40k with a huge announcement of missing models the community has wanted for the past 2 years. There is a ton of excitement over this release and GW has done an amazing job with this. It really is the biggest news piece we have for 2012 thus far.

Presence of Faeit is my weekly editorial. I generally report during the week what is going on, and today is my day to comment on what exactly it is that I am thinking of.

Dark Angel Jetbikes

With the image on the spine of the White Dwarf starting to shape up there is a lot of speculation that this is the artwork for the cover of a upcoming codex. ( I have not yet seen a good image of the latest additional magazine image). However with the thought that there might really be a codex on the way, I started wondering what might be in it.

Space Wolf Release Video

Here is the second video from Games Workshop today, focusing on the large number of Space Wolves released. I am really liking these video releases and I hope Games Workshop continues doing them. I can imagine them doing this for a number of years, with the videos just getting better and better.

via Games Workshop
The title pretty much says it all. Check out the videos to see all the new Space Wolf and Tyranid units, including the mighty Thunderwolf Cavalry, the Wolf Lord on Thunderwolf, the critter-spawning Tervigon and the formidable new Hive Tyrant. If, like me, you're one of those people that needs to see every detail of every miniature, then this is the best way to do it; from the platted beards of the Space Wolves to the ichor dripping from the underside of the Tervigon there's plenty to look at.

Tyranid Release Video

Here is the video release for the new Tyranids today. The video gives you close up views that are otherwords hard to get. These are excellent models, and I am considering restarting a tyranid army from this release.

via Games Workshop
Many of the new models are also plastic kits, which means there are loads of different options included in the box, from guns and claws to heads and tails. You get to see a lot of the parts in these videos, a useful resource if you want to find out how to equip your new units. Put it this way, the Hive Tyrant can now be geared up for total war with wings, a Heavy Venom Cannon, Bone Sword, Lash Whip... well, everything really. You can even build the Swarmlord from the kit. Check out the videos and see for yourself.

Its Now Official

Here it is finally. It doesn't matter that we already knew they were coming, it is still nice to get the official announcement of this long awaited release. Please take into account and support your local game shop when deciding what to buy. There are a lot of models in this release. They are now available for advance orders.

via Games Workshop
From the huge Tyrannofex and Hive Tyrant, to the legendary Thunderwolf Cavalry and Fenrisian Wolves, there are some fantastic multi-part plastic kits available to advance order today. Not only this, but there many models are coming in resplendent Citadel Finecast. Gather your Hive Fleet for planetary assault, line up your Space Wolves for the charge and head over to games-workshop.com to prepare for the carnage...

New Artwork from the Black Library

Another stunning piece by Neil Roberts for the upcoming (December if I recall correctly) audio book by James Swallow, Garro, Sword of Truth.

via the Black Library
When we showed James Swallow (author of the Garro series) the cover he had this to say:

Nice! Varren looks just like Gerard Butler, which is exactly what I was going for.

I’m really happy to be working with Neil Roberts on the Heresy series, as he absolutely gets what it’s all about. I like the way that Neil is able to produce the covers ahead of time, so that while I’m writing the story, I can have the cover art up on my wall and can draw on those images for inspiration.

One of the best things about writing for Black Library is that there is such a wealth of imagery to refer to, from John Blanche’s early concept drawings and the fantastic cover art, to the models and rules themselves. Whenever I go to the recording of an audio-drama, I take along my copy of the ‘Art of Warhammer 40,000’ (a now out of print art book compiled by Marc Gascoigne and Matt Ralphs) and show the voice actors who they are portraying. This really helps them develop the character, as they often don’t have much prior experience of the Warhammer 40,000 universe.

Forgeworld 40k Expansion: Zone Mortalis

There is a new Forgeworld expansion for Warhammer 40k hitting today. Zone Mortalis. Here is an excerpt from the rules, and the link to them. They look at first glance to be a lot of fun.
http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Downloads/Product/PDF/Z/zonemortalis.pdf
http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuff

via Forgeworld
The following rules expansion for Warhammer 40,000 deals with some of the most savage arenas of combat conceivable, the battlefields the Codex Tactica Imperialis refers to as ‘Zone Mortalis’ — the fatal ground. Such zones be they the contested decks of a void warship, tangled mine works, lightless underhives, the prison-vaults of sundered fortress citadels, labyrinthine industrial sewer systems and sacred catacombs, all have a confluence of factors in common such as close-confinement, limited access for attack or escape routes, as well as treacherous environments, which make them murderous venues for warfare.

Empire Rumor Compilation

Between all both Warhammer Fantasy and 40k, it seems like Empire might just be the next big release. With a possible army book on its way, it is time to take a look at a compilation of rumors out there and see just what might be next.

Site Changes: Pages Added

Underneath the site banner, I have added pages to link readers to resources that have been posted on the blog before. Even though this is a small addition, it will make it very easy to locate access some information on the blog. I did this several days ago, so if there is a subject listed there you are interested in, please go check it out.

Right now only my original Dark Eldar Tactica series and Terrain Tutorials are listed, but more is to come.  Feedback or suggestions and comments for the site are always welcome.

New Chaos Vehicle Rumors and Daemonic Riders.

There are New Chaos Vehicle rumors, stating an expansion on the Chaos Predator weapon upgrades. These are being said to be similar to Razorbacks guns with side sponsons included. A twin-linked plasma turrent with plasma side sponsons? That could sell some tanks.

Chapterhouse Lawsuit and the Tervigon/ Thunderwolf Release

Many people are wondering, if the Chapterhouse lawsuit is not yet even at trial, and the lawsuit was the issue, how did GW release these models? I have seen that many people were thinking the lawsuit did not hamper the release, but instead was a way for GW to sell more models. Well, hopefully that answers the question.

Pics of the Week

A day late, but here nonetheless. Pics of the week is my weekly series of artwork from the archives (an external hard drive). Its amazing that for the last year or so, that I still have artwork that I have not posted up on this series. Until then, it will continue.

Pics of the Week happen every Tuesday where I share from my Warhammer pic library. I collect these all the time from all over, and sharing them is just fun.

More Pictures: Tyranids and Space Wolves

We have more pictures of the March releases that are now circulating. Here are the ones we did not have earlier, for both Space Wolves and Tyranids.

Tervigons: Out with the Old, In with the New.

For two years now we have had no models for Tervigons and Tyrannofexes. As with any model we have no comparable size, and no model, people have custom built their own these last couple years, only to have the size of the official model end up much larger than many expected. Are these old models going to be legal in tournaments now?

Check out the size of that Tervigon.

Building Terrain: Part 3 of 3

This is the last section of my terrain building tutorial. I have already added it on its own seperate page, and will be updating this final post to it, as soon as I get the chance.

First Sighting of March Releases! Tervigon, Thunderwolves, and More

The first sightings of releases that will be released March 3rd are here. It looks like a release we have all wanted to see, check it out......

I will post more as I get it! No pics yet, sorry, just a list.

Faeit 212 BlogExchange: Loads of Great Blogs

This weeks we have another wave of additions for your reading. I am going to say that while reading through many of these this week, I spent much more time that I had available, there is that much incredible work on these sites. I definetly suggest checking them out and reading through them.

Warriors of Chaos Rumors

Just when you thought I had forgotten about Warhammer Fantasy, Warriors of Chaos rumors are up, putting them as a possible release for this coming December. New models, and a few details follow.

Dark Angel Rumors

Really the first rumors of what a Dark Angels codex might really start to look like. These couple bits talk of increased of chaplains and plasma cannon sponsons on tanks.

Building Terrain Tutorial: Part 2

This is part two of my terrain building tutorial. This is where the building gets fun, as it really starts to take shape, and start looking like what it supposed to. While the drying times from the paste can really take forever..... (i have no patience), the following steps really start to move quickly.

GW Increases Staffing for LotR

Just recently Games Workshop was hiring an assistant designer (I forget the exact title), and it appears they are or have increased their design staff significantly. The thoughts in general have been that this would be bad for the core games that we all love, primarily Warhammer Fantasy, and Warhammer 40k.

This rumor lets us know that perhaps the core games will not be left in the dust, and that instead, LotR will simply be additional releases on top of what is already going to be coming out. Not to mention that the movie and game has funded additional technology for the GW.

Sick Day

Im calling in sick today. I had to cancel a scheduled 40k game last night as well.

Terrain Building: How it was Made.

I am going to attempt to show how I made these terrain pieces. I will do my best at explaining and showing how each step was completed, as well as any problems that came up while making them. I will start from the beginning, even though I have went over this briefly before.

The intention is that this series on how to make this terrain is to go onto it's own permanent page as I start implementing some of the site updates.

Necron Battleforce is Now Available for Pre-Order

The Necron Battleforce is now up for Pre-order. While we knew it was coming, it is always nice to see a battleforce hit the shelves, since they are decent money savers. This one in particular is nice. Two battleforces and a leader, and you have a decent start to this army.

Cost: $105
The set contains 20 Necron Warriors; 5 Immortals (which can alternatively be built as 5 Deathmarks); 5 Canoptek Scarab Swarms, and a Ghost Ark (which can alternatively be built as a Doomsday Ark if you want a little extra firepower).

Warhammer Forge: Basilisk Up for Pre-Order

New from Warhammer Forge is the Basilisks. It has one hell of an ugly mug, but that is what this creature is suppoed to have. Definetly a nice model. The model is set for a February 24th Release Date, but is available now for pre-order.

Found in the most treacherous regions of the Warhammer world, from the Bloodspine Mountains of the unknown Southlands to the Grey Peaks that shoulder the Empire, Basilisks are a reclusive menace. They are a living blight so inimical to life that they poison the very ground they walk upon, the venom that suffuses their body and spirit capable of swiftly reducing verdant land to ruined waste.

Their huge bodies are covered with brightly coloured scales from the membranous fins upon their head to the tip of their muscled tail; a warning of their noxious nature. They prowl stealthily on eight legs, and are capable of moving swiftly enough to run down even the quickest prey. The most potent weapon in the Basilisk’s arsenal, however, is its gaze. Renowned in folklore across the Old World for its lethal potency, the sickly pale eyes of the Basilisk can focus the essence of their poisonous soul, withering their prey until its skin and flesh slough away.

40k 25th Anniversary Memorabilia

On the 40k Anniversary if you happen to head down to your local hobby center, meaning GW store, you will be able to get your hands on a few things announced yesterday by Games Workshop. Here is the post.

Terrain Building Almost Done (Updated with More Pics)

Here is a pic of where I am at. I am down to the final details, that I just don't have enough lung capacity to finish tonight. No more fumes until at least tomorrow when I will get a chance to a little more work.

Once again, I will get into some of the details on how all this went together, as well as some of the terrains features.

Is it the List or the Player?

One thing that our Internet community does is push how important the list is. It does it to the extent that many people believe that the list makes the player, and  "if I can get my list down, I will be unstoppable".  I am here to tell you, its not the list. ( I see a lot of sad faces with that statement).

Releases for March. Thunderwolves and Tervigon.

Looks like March will be exciting with a Tyranid and a Space Wolf release. We have been waiting for these for some time. Please note that this is not an official announcement yet, it is still a rumor until we get some insider pics and more information.

Former GW Employee Q&A

So a former Games Workshop employee conducted a long question and answer session. I am not going to go into any of the details, because its rather long. Here is a link.

I worked for Games Workshop for several years before returning to college, as a trade sales representative. Working within the industry gave me a lot of insight into both how these kinds of companies work, as well as the culture internal to the gaming industry. Ask me anything!

GW's New Policy Revealed in Detail

Here are the details of Games Workshops new policies with independent stores. We have the details, and I think its a positive step forward.

Mystery Book Sighted. 6th Edition/ 25th Anniversary?

This morning there is a picture floating around showing a book with a label beneath it... 6th edition - 2012. There is a big question mark on the cover where a graphic should be. Take a look at the pic, which is no longer on facebook.

Terrain Update: WIP

Just when you thought I had forgotten about my terrain building project going on. Here are the updated pics and some nearly completed pieces. I will go into more detail in the next couple days. I have a lot more pieces done than when these photos were taken, but I still have quite a bit of work to do.

For anyone interested I will be doing a step by step. These pieces of terrain cost me 0 additional funds, since I had been saving misc things (foam, dried branches, etc) for some time.

Pics of the Week: Reload

This week I am going to be starting a "Reload" version of Pics of the week. I have been doing a Pics of the Week post now for well over a year, every week. The series was started Dec 7th 2010, and has been done every week (one or two missed and one or two double features for a total of 60 posts). There are tons of pics that have been shown here, and far too many new readers to count that may have not seen some of the excellent artwork shown.

Just incase you were not here, Reload has you covered. I will feature on occasion old Pics of the Week that were shown here over a year a go. Don't worry long time readers, I still have plenty of pics.

Dead Post

Removed for incorrect and old information: I missed this one. Sorry.

Noisy Little Birds. Necron Wave Delayed

Today's little rumor snippet is telling us that the next Necron Wave is being delayed. I wish there were more details to go into, but a delay is a delay. Is it because of shipping, packaging, timing? No idea.

Regardless, we were discussing this a little bit yesterday. This rumor doesnt change anything. We are still looking at Tyranids and Space Wolves next month+, and Necrons shortly there after. Next codex still appears to be Chaos Legions Q2.

Faeit 212 BlogExchange: Five New Additions

There are a lot of blogs that have been added to the BlogExchange this week. There are enough blogs, to really spend sit down and enjoy your evening reading. The additions cover a wide spectrum of our hobby and its armies, so its worth the read.

Hive Tyrant No Longer Available

There have been musings that the Hive Tyrant is no longer available on the Games Workshop site. According to what is being said, it is not on the US site, listed as Unavailable on the UK site. Apparently it is still sitting on the AU site.

Regardless of whether it is or not on the sites, the lack of a model being available should not on its own be taken as a reason to believe that there is a release imminent.

I believe that from our rumor sources, March will see Tyranids, April or May will see a Necron wave, and that there is some Space Wolves in the mix.

Where are the Tau? Recent Rumors

Tau have been the biggest disappointment for most people, since there were a lot of rumors flowing that they were getting a codex sometime Q1 this year. Now they appear to be at the very earliest 6 months or even further out into next year. So what has the rumor mill been saying lately of the sad state in the Tau Empire?

These rumors get to the bottom of it.

Presence of Faeit: Dark Angels, Upcoming Releases,Terrain Building

We are just wrapping up the first week in February and moving to mid month. How fast time flies when we only have rumored releases to look forward to, since 2012 has seen nothing  for 40k..... With the exception of Dark Angel rumors, it has even been a slow week for the rumor mill. Top that off, I have not had a chance to get a game in this last week. This coming week looks a little promising, as I am hoping to break in some new terrain here at the house.

Presence of Faeit is my weekly editorial. I generally report during the week what is going on, and today is my day to comment on what exactly it is that I am thinking of.

One Author, Many Contributors

Time for a little site talk. On this site, there is one author, and that is myself. I have not really even considered additional writers here, or guest authors, but all that can be talk down the road.

Even though there is only one author here, there are many people that contribute to this site. I read every comment and email I recieve, even if my I do not answer every one of them. (short term memory issue...I know I am forgetting something almost always).

Forge World Masterclass Vol.2 to be Released

When I saw this today, my first thought was that I didn't even know there was a Masterclass Vol. 1. Apparently somewhere during 4th edition or the first part of 5th, I missed it. I like the idea of this so much that I might just have to order volume 1 when I get the chance.

Today's rumor says that we are only a few short months away from a Masterclass Vol. 2 release.

Terrain Building: Step Two Complete.... with mistakes.

OK, technically I cannot count, cutting out the pieces is step one (just edited the title). Step two is now complete. Lets get into how I handle this Styrofoam.

No longer a Rumor, it's a Fact. Dark Angels.

The Dark Angels being part of the 6th edition starter set, against Chaos.... Still a rumor or now a fact? For one known rumor monger Dark Angels are part of the 6th edition set, with no leaway for error, it is written in stone.
